1 Upstate NY Friends of NRA Projected Grant Awards NRA Volunteers and NRA Programs Investing in the Future of the Shooting Sports! Preserving our Heritage of Freedom! At the annual grant meeting of the Upstate NY Friends of NRA State Fund Committee, dedicated FNRA volunteers were tasked with allocating charitable funds raised during the 2016 season of upstate NY FNRA banquets. 104 applications seeking assistance for grassroots local programs were reviewed. After careful evaluation, 93 of these grant requests were supported with recommendations for some level of funding. Approximately $313,000 was allocated in support of these projects. All eligible categories were supported which include safety, education, youth, and women programs along with marksmanship training, conservation, charitable, law enforcement, and community service projects as they relate to the shooting sports and the public good. Representing their hometown areas from all over NYS, this essential task was accomplished by outstanding NRA volunteers serving in the important role of Grant Meeting Delegate. This report lists the recommendation results from the state level proceedings. The next step is the review and approvals of these state endorsed grant awards by the national NRA Foundation Board of Trustees. This can be a 3 to 6 month process based on the category and any additional procedural steps an application may require. If they all pass this next level of review then we will have another 90+% success rate year for our applicants. The average grant awarded will be over $3,000 per project. It is quite a wide range of support from $200 all the way up to the $5,000 level, all in support of a vast array of important local programs that take place all over upstate NY. This is the most exciting program that the National Rifle Association has ever initiated to invigorate the expansion of the shooting sports and to support our heritage of freedom in our local communities as well as all across the rest of the country! 2017 will be an important year in many ways and will prove once again that great results always come from the mutually supportive partnerships between Friends of NRA Committee volunteers with 2nd Amendment supporting clubs and community-minded businesses and organizations; All joining together to prepare for the annual fundraising banquet which is the sole source of all of these powerful charitable dollars.
