4 Material Information ETHYLENE PROPYLENE DIENE MONOMER EPDM EPDM is known for its excellent resistance to ozone, mild acids, detergents, alkalis, silicone oils, alcohol and ketones. Due to its environmental resistance, this material is commonly used in the automotive, water (including hot and steam), HVAC and construction industries. FKM is often considered a universal elastomer for its ability to perform in many applications. Fluorocarbons typically display high resistance to swelling upon exposure to gasoline, and have a slow degradation rate when used in applications with UV light and ozone. Because it exhibits low gas permeability, this material is commonly used in the aerospace and automotive industries. The material has excellent resistance to silicone greases, hydraulic fluids, alcohols, water, and has a favorable balance of low compression set, high abrasion resistance along with high tensile strength. NBR is commonly used in military applications requiring good performance in low temperatures.
