2 IOF s overview 2018 to 2022 About this document This summary is intended to give an overview of upcoming events member federations can apply for. Member federations should apply within the timeframe specified, if nothing else is stated. The document does not cover World Ranking s (WRE) applications. For Abbreviations see Glossary of Acronyms: The tables of events that are presented in this document contain both already appointed events and events to apply for. The s with a fatter red text, i.e in the End -column mark events with the closest application deadlines. How to apply The official application should come from the member federation. Host venues, event organisations, local clubs or other organisations need to apply via the member federation. 3 IOF s overview 2018 to 2022 Possible Dates and Period Calendars Please follow this general process below when deciding s. 1. The Applicant checks the periods for the discipline 2. The Applicant checks the document IOF Policy on Conflicting s and matches that with the currently appointed s of higher level. Appointed s are found in the tables below and in IOF or. 3. The applicant proposes preferred and impossible s. The s should be covering all days that are mandatory for a Team or Athlete. Normally, the s are the program from the opening to closing ceremonies of the event, one day before first race day to last race day. 4. Dates are provisionally decided when an applicant is appointed and finally approved by IOF Council. 7 IOF s overview 2018 to 2022 MTB Orienteering s MTBO - Possible Dates and Period Calendars The possible periods and the conflicting s are described below. Use this information together with the IOF Policy on Conflicting s. The IOF envisions the following structure of international events for the season 2020 and onwards, but is happy to consider alternatives proposed by strong applications: May/June July/August September/October World Cup round 1 EMTBOC World Cup round 2 WMTBOC + JWMTBOC World Cup round 3 Final WMMTBOC preferably with EJMTBOC and EYMTBOC There should be at least 6 weeks between two World Cup rounds. The EMTBOC preferably should be organised before the WMTBOC The WMMTBOC organisers are also expected to organise the EJMTBOC and the EYMTBOC if the event takes place in Europe The WMMTBOC may be organised together with World Cup round 1 or 3, but it is not a requirement. If that is the case, IOF recommends that the areas already selected for the orienteering events are considered for the trail orienteering competitions.
