1 December 2018 in Poznań December is a time of transfer between colourful autumn and white winter. We can not wait until we go skiing, get a Christmas gift and for spring. Despite the season being kind of dull it is still worth coming to Poznań because it is great all year long. We prepare for Christmas but also for anniversary of regaining independance. Let s get straigh to it. Below list of some of interesting events. Poznań Bethlehem 2018 Plac Wolności: November 17th - December 21st Stary Rynek: December 1st - December 21st The most magical time of the year is right ahead of us. As each year, our city turns into the winter wonderland and Poznań Bethlehem takes place. Handful of attractions will be available for locals and lucky tourists. There are two Christmas markets, both connected by christmas alley so walking beetwen them is not only quick but entertaining, too. On November 17th first part of the Bethlehem starts on the Plac Wolności (Freedom Square). There, 33 meteres Ferris wheel is going to be installed, among other carousels, stands with food and warmed wine. Market open daily 11:00 am till 9:00 pm.

2 Second part of the Bethlehem will go on on the Old Market Square, so in a very heart of Poznań. It starts on December 1st with official lightening of the main Christmas tree. Then, local producers will please you with their fish, cheese, meats, wines and beers. It is perfect for buying some gifts as well. December 8th and 9th the Groups from different parts of the world will change their blocks of ice into a real piece of art. This thing is called Ice Festival. Moreover, December 13th the carol singing takes place. We will listen to well known Silent Night, but in many languages of the world. Have you ever heard this in Japanese or Indonesian? 3 Christmas cribs are very popular in Poland. Each church tries its best to prepare something unique and monumental. Did you know that Poznań, since 50s of last century, each year builds gigantic crib considered to be the biggest in Europe? The crib comes into being in church of św. Franciszek Seraficki on the Bernardyński Square. It contains more than 250 real size figures, many of them moving. The project is possible thanks to the work of monks and volunteers. The crib officaly opens for visitors on December 24th and can be seen until February 2nd, th anniversary of regaining independence of Poland Year 2018 for Poles is a year of great significance. We celebrate full 100 years of Independence which was stolen from us for more than 120 years. Bloody uprisings did not bring a victory for many, many decades until Wielkopolskie Uprising in That is why Poznań has multiple reasons to be proud. If not us, Poland might not show up on the map again for much longer time. A lot changed during that century and not everything was perfect but finally we can look into the future with optimism we lost somewhere among the wars and opressions. Main Celebrations - December 27th 2018 If you want to know more about uprising and people participating in it, come to Plac Wolności (Freedom Square) in the evening of December 27th to see insurgents camp. Restores dressed in outfits from before 100 years will tell and show the story of that era. Additional attractions will be provided.

4 Same day on the city stadium the biggest stars of polish music scene will pay homage to all those fighting for freedom. Concert will be enhanced with projection of souvenirs and stories from those moments. Show transmitted live by polish TV station TVN. Details are not known yet. We wait impatiently for more infos. To Uprising by train! December 29th, 2018 On December 29th, 2018, to mark 100th anniversary of Wielkopolskie Uprising 1918/19 TurKol.pl with Marshal s Office of Wielkopolska, Cargo Master and Engine House Wolsztyn would like to invite You to take opporunity of a ride with the steam trains. One of two retro vehicles Powstaniec will take you on an iron route from Wolsztyn to Poznań Główny (Poznań Main Station). In a town of Luboń a stage version of recapture the train from invader s hands will take place. Second of the trains Twierdza takes You around Poznań.

Official website of TurKol >>> HERE City New Year s Eve 2018/19 on Plac Wolności City of Poznań along with Estrada Poznańska would like to invite everyone to the annual City New Year s Eve which, of course, will take place on December 31st Event will start with President of Poznań s best wishes. After that on stage you will see stars of polish music scene, vocal duet from Wielkopolska and two musical surprises. Whole thing will be enhanced with original setting and music arranged by 5 Djs. Right after President s speech you will be pleased by fireworks, which against of people s fears is going to be more quiet and safer than those of your own. Safety will be provided security will not let in anybody caring own alcohol or fireworks. Date: December 31st 2018 Start: 10 p.m. Finish: 2 a.m.
