2 WOMAN COACH OF THE YEAR CONTEST organized by the Polish Olympic Committee WOMEN S SPORT COMMISSION WOMEN COACH OF THE YEAR - THE MAIN OBJECTIVE OF THAT CONTEST IS TO POPU- LARISE WOMEN AS SPORT COMPETITORS AND TO PROMOTE DISTINGUISHED WOM- EN COACHES WHO TRAIN GIRLS AND WOMEN AS WELL AS MEN COACHES WHO WORK WITH WOMEN ATHLETES. THE CONTEST HAS GOT A LONG TRADITION AND TAKEN PLACE EVERY YEAR FOR 16 YEARS. It is one of the well-known and flag events in the calendar of the Polish Olympic Committee. The organizer of the Women Coach of the year contest is the Women s Sport Commission of the Polish Olympic Committee. The Chairperson is Mrs Irena Szewińska Member of the IOC, Vice President of the NOC of POLAND, seven times Olympic medallist. THE PRIZES ARE AWARDED The competition is open to anyone who stands out by virtue of his or her achievements, position and commitment. Applications must accomplish educators and experts in their fields of activity. IN THE FOLLOWING CATEGORIES: a) Best female coach for the results achieved in a given year b) Best coach working with women for the results achieved in a given year c) Best male or female coach for his or her entire work with women (Lifetime achievement) d) Prize for women s sport promotion and development (this concerns mass media, scholarly works, promotions during events etc.) The competition is equally open to instructors who work with youth and coaches of athletes representing Poland. Journalists, campaigners, private individuals, research workers and event organizers are eligible for the Category D prize. CANDIDATES CAN BE NOMINATED BY: 1. On the other hand, the abandonment of young athletes in teenage is still very high, so it will be crucial for the ever increasing presence of the sports world within the school to create winning synergies such as the Sports Lectures, collaboration with gender-oriented healthcare staff to manage the adolescent phase and the specific training of technicians, including through targeted seminars and opening courses in those sports that are considered less feminine. To support the growth of women s presence in apical roles, we need to evaluate the possibility of introducing specific dimensions, creating a network for good practice, and building training / learning paths. WHAT WE ARE DOING In 2014, the Equal Opportunities Commission was set up, studying measures to facilitate effective working equality between women and men, ensuring equal dignity in the workplace for all categories of workers, encouraging the adoption of concrete actions aimed at achieving equal opportunity. In the elections for the four-year period , during the election of athletes and technicians, the Olympic charter (Reg.2.7 and Art 5.1) was adopted thus guaranteeing gender equity. Women involved in sport were invited to express their personal view and experiences with the purpose to increase and strengthen the leadership role of women in sport. The event was attended by Olympic medalists, champions, and members of the sports federations. Women and Sport Commission HOC was established in Facebook to highlight the achievements and inform the public about women who distinguish themselves in all facets of sport activity. SCHOOL OF WOMEN S PROPOSAL FOR LEGISLATION The Women and Sport Commission proposes that a 20% quota of female participating at the Board of Directors for each Sports Club is mandatory. EXECUTIVESIN SPORT The Hellenic Olympic Committee and the Women and Sport Commission will establish a school for female executives in sport funded by sponsorships and the Region of Attica. There will be seminar courses on leadership issues, where university teachers and distinguished experts will disseminate their knowledge on gender diverisity and leadership. Participants will be women nominated by National Federations and by the Women and Sport commission.
