18 BOARD MEETING BARCELONA TH 22 ND OF MAY Association/Institution: Irish Primary Physical Education Association Year/Month: May 2016 News: IPPEA Annual Conference Saturday 27th February 2016 at The Mardyke Arena, UCC, Cork. The day was thoroughly enjoyed by over 100 teachers from around Ireland. The conference consisted of a variety of workshops that were delivered by IPPEA committee members as well as guest presenters. Each of the varied practical workshops presented and celebrated the value of quality physical education. Participants in the workshops were actively engaged in accessible, adaptable activities and shown how to integrate new ideas throughout the curriculum. Check out some video footage from the day on the following links: IPPEA Conference Video Part 1: IPPEA Conference Video Part 2: Events: IPPEA Final Year Primary Student Teacher IPPEA Workshop Eastern Region held at St. Patrick s College Dublin Tuesday 10 th May. A workshop was delivered on Developing Fundamental Movement Skills through Junk Play and Digital Technology by Susan Marron and Maura Coulter. All the participants were given one year free membership to the IPPEA to set the student teachers on their teaching careers offering support for their PE teaching and to make them aware of the association and their work. 19 BOARD MEETING BARCELONA TH 22 ND OF MAY Association/Institution: Scottish Association for Teachers of PE (SATPE) Year/Month: May 2016 News: SATPE conference set for Saturday 5 th November 2016, where we will welcome members of EUPEA. Education Scotland have launched a Progression Framework which is to help teachers to assess pupils progress in PE Events: Actual Problems: Solutions: Good Practice: SATPE have created a mobile/tablet APP that allows pupils to evidence and assess their own progress in PE. This has been piloted this year and will be launched in August There is also a secure website linked to this where the teacher can monitor the evidence. Association/Institution: Capdi & LSM Italy Year/Month: 2016/May News: - Any special news from PE in school and university. - Some good news from our national confederation. Events: - Italian Delegation to the 11 International Seminar For Physical Education Teachers Vierumaki (Finland): 40 Italian PE teachers will attend the seminar. - National seminars organized by Capdi & Lsm: more than 1,300 PE teachers attended our national seminars around Italy. Eupea in these events is always in the first line. I had several lectures concerning PE in Europe and of course Eupea is mentioned. - We will organize an seminar in Bibione (close to Venice) in September. We will have an international section in English. Who is interested is of course welcome. Actual Problems: - PE teachers are too old: the Government is trying to pre pension PE teachers with a small salary reduction. - Not yet specialized PE teachers in primary school. Capdi & LSM is still working hard on it. Solutions: - Agreement between Ministry of Education and Paralympics Committee. Good Practices:

20 BOARD MEETING BARCELONA TH 22 ND OF MAY Association/Institution: Hungarian School Sport Federation Year/Month: 2016 spring News: - HIPE for HEPA Hungarian International Conference on Quality Physical Education to be held in Budapest, between November, 2016: a conference that this year will focus on healthenhancing physical activity (HEPA). Organised by the Hungarian School Sport Federation for the second time, this scientific event will invite stakeholders from all around Europe who have made a name for themselves in the field of physical activity and physical education. Keynote speakers including the representative of EUPEA will examine different aspects of HEPA and HEPA promotion. For more information, visit Events: European School Sport Day 30 September, all around Europe. A unique program that is organized under the umbrella of the European Week of Sport and ISCA s NowWeMove Campaign and aims no less than motivating school children from all around Europe to get involved in any kind of physical activity for at least 120 minutes. The awareness raising event will highlight the need to do more sports and have more physical activity in our children s daily routine. With the support of the Ministry Of Human Capacities, the governmental organization, that is also responsible for sports, the May the Sports Be With You! programme, elaborated in 2014 by the Hungarian School Sport Federation, was implemented in 2015 for the first time. The main objective of the programme is to promote physical activity to become part of everyday life of children and therefore broaden the youth sport talent base for sports and sport organizations. The programme is built on three pillars. The first pillar is a programme series implemented in each county of Hungary consisting of 20 events. The events are typically organised in sport halls of county towns, where not just national sport federations but local and neighbouring sport associations have the opportunity to present themselves different sports present themselves and provide minutes of leisure time for children

21 BOARD MEETING BARCELONA TH 22 ND OF MAY Good Practice: The selected sport experts, teachers, trainers playfully present games related to each sport for the students, especially the essential but spectacular technical, tactical elements of sports. Hereby, children can, upon personal experience, have an inside view of the exact sport. Beyond all this, children also have the chance to meet their role models, who are internationally successful athletes. On average we host students (per event) at the age 6 12 arriving by bus from various settlement from all over the county. The second pillar of the programme is delivered through sportexhibitory events organised in more than 200 Hungarian schools. During these events, locally available sports are presented. These programmes contribute to building immediate and effective communication channels between local sport clubs, students and parents, increasing the number of certified athletes having official organization membership. The third pillar of the programme is providing sport equipment for long term use. The participating sport federations provide sport specific equipment packages, supporting the professional education and practice of sport games. The content of the equipment packages is determined by the federations, and thus these kits could contribute to the expansion of a particular sport in school PE and school sport respectively. The equipment packages are disseminated to more than 1100 schools through this programme in each year, which is almost one third of the Hungarian schools. Faliro, Athens, Greece Year/Month: 2016/April 6th Events: Our school participated in the celebration of the International Day of Sport for Peace and Development with an event titled: PLAYING WITH THE OTHER. PHYSICAL EDUCATION FOR RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY AND RECONCILIATION.The event of Wednesday the 6th April had as participants immigrant and refugee students of 5th grade of our Intercultural School and Greek native students of the same age from a Greek public school (16th Elementary school of Nea Ionia). The main aim of the event was to facilitate interethnic contact and social cohesion by engaging native and foreigner students in common physical tasks and cooperative games. Through specially designed physical activities that incorporate sport values respect, fair play, teamwork, individual and collective responsibility, and reconciliation children from diverse ethno cultural backgrounds had the opportunity to get to know each, gain better intergroup understanding and realized that they have the potential to build relationships and friendships across social, economic, and cultural divides. Through playing together they felt a sense of belonging, of a shared identity. A short assessment at the end of the day indicated that children from both schools greatly enjoyed the action and expressed the wish for more similar events.
