1 VSCCS bulletin VEHICLE SAFETY COMPLIANCE CERTIFICATION SCHEME PUBLISHED 5 OCTOBER 2012 REV Supersedes Rev. 36 Licensed Certifiers If you have a significantly modified vehicle or a nonstandard vehicle, it must be inspected by a NSW Government accredited representative, known as a VSCCS Licensed Certifier. Vehicle and competency categories Licensed certifiers are only authorised to assess vehicles and modifications that are within their particular areas of expertise. An explanation of the vehicle and modification categories is set out below. Vehicle category Motorcycle (M) Passenger vehicles (including buses <= 4.5 tonnes) (P) Bus GVM > 4.5 tonnes (B) Light commercial (L) Field of competency Modified vehicles Braking systems (C1) s and Maritime Services Driving controls or aids (C2) Seating or occupant protection (C3) Engine, fuel systems or intake/ exhaust systems (C4) Body, chassis or frame, suspension, steering, transmission or driveline, wheels, tyres or axles or lighting systems (C5) Whole vehicles Personally imported vehicle (IP) All other vehicles (including individually constructed vehicle (AOV) MAOV PAOV n/a BAOV LAOV Medium and heavy vehicles and HAOV trailers (H) Please note: where a certifier has licence subcategory only eg.6 you should speak to the certifier to confirm that they are licensed to certify the type of modifications you have undertaken. This list will be updated regularly as new licences are issued. Some Licensed Certifiers may provide a mobile certification service.
