RV/NR UCF tallied two road wins in the team s previous two matches, both against in-state opponents. On Friday, Ashley Spivey scored the only goal of the Knights 1-0 victory against FIU. The senior midfielder notched another game-winner on Sunday, helping to lift UCF to a 4-3 win over Miami (Fla.) in double overtime. Cincinnati notched a home win as Danielle Rotheram scored the lone goal of the Bearcats 1-0 victory over Providence College. Goalkeeper Natalie Smith recorded five saves in all 90:00 minutes for the Bearcats. Cincinnati has shutout their opponents in the past three matches. No. 25/NR UConn recorded the team s third consecutive win as they beat Navy, 4-2, in Annapolis, Md. The Huskies outshot Navy 30-10, as four different players registered goals in the match. Houston dropped Friday s match against Utah, 1-4, and Sunday s game against Utah State, 0-2. Sophomore Selena Peters recorded both hers and the Cougars first goal of the season in Friday s game. Senior goalkeeper Jordan Brown finished Sunday s match with three saves, giving her 100 career saves and making her the seventh Cougar in program history to collect more than 100 saves. Memphis fell to Samford, 1-5, on Friday but bounced back to beat UAB 1-0 in Birmingham, Ala. on Sunday night. Necee Jennings scored the game-winning goal for the Tigers in the seventh minute. RV/NR USF topped LIU Brooklyn 5-0 at Corbett Stadium on Friday. Junior transfer Trudi Carter had two of the team s five goals. In the Bulls 3-0 win over Mississippi State on Sunday, Olivia Chance tallied five points with two goals and an assist. The senior midfielder accumulated eight points in two games over the weekend, and currently leads the league in points. USF remains undefeated (3-0) this season. SMU picked up the team s first win of the season as they beat Texas Southern, 5-1. Five different players scored in the match; Lauren Guerra, Hannah Fleet, Vanessa Valadez, Claire Oates, and Chinelo Odobulu. It was the most goals in a regular season game for SMU since August 23, 2013 when the Mustangs beat Louisiana-Monroe, 6-1. Temple remains undefeated after beating Loyola Maryland 4-0 on Friday, and Rider 2-1 on Tuesday. Kelly Farrell picked up her fourth goal of the season in the 40th minute of the match against Rider. Redshirt junior Gina DiTaranto scored the Owls second goal in the 77th minute, giving Temple the 2-1 advantage. Tulsa moved to 4-0 on the season with the team s 2-0 win over SIUE on Friday, and 3-0 defeat over McNeese State on Sunday. Christina Holmes scored two goals for the Hurricane between the team s two shutout victories. WEEKLY HONORS O f f e n s i v e Play e r of the Week Ashley Spivey UCF Sr. M Netted two game-winners this weekend to help extend UCF s winning streak to three straight matches. She scored on her only attempt in Friday s match against FIU, leading the Knights to their 1-0 defeat of the Panthers. On Sunday UCF beat Miami (Fla.) 4-3, as Spivey registered the game-winner in 2OT. D e f e n s i v e Play e r of the Week Saga Fredriksson UCF So. Played all 90 minutes of UCF s shutout at FIU on Friday. She also assisted the Knights first goal against Miami on Sunday, with her free kick in the 10th minute. Fredriksson helped deliver UCF s first win at Miami in more than a decade. G o a l k e e p e r of the Week Natalie Smith Cincinnati Sr. Recorded five saves in Sunday s shutout win over Providence. She had a diving save in the 49th minute, and also made a pair of diving saves in the 64th minute on back-to-back one-on-one opportunities for the Friars. Smith lifted the Bearcats to their third consecutive shutout. R o o k i e of the Week Jessica Taylor UCF Fr. F Scored her first career goal on her only shot of UCF s match against Miami on Sunday. The freshman scored the Knights third goal in the 26th minute. Taylor helped increase UCF s unbeaten streak to six straight in the series with the Hurricanes. H o n o r Roll Danielle Rotheram, Cincinnati, Sr., M Scored the game-winning goal in Sunday s 1-0 win over Providence. Olivia Chance, USF, Sr., M Led the Bulls with eight points on the weekend. Recorded one goal and one assist on Friday against LIU; scored two goals, including the game-winner, against Mississippi State on Sunday. Jackie Simpson, USF, Sr., D Anchored a defense that allowed just 10 shots all weekend and only four on goal. Led the defense to two shutout wins. Leticia Skeete, USF, Jr., F Recorded three assists and two goals over the weekend, helping to lead USF to two shutout wins. The senior scored the only goal of Friday s RV/NR UCF-FIU match, leading the Knights to a 1-0 win over the Panthers. Spivey also netted her third game-winner in double overtime on Sunday, for UCF s 4-3 (2OT) defeat of Miami (Fla.). Redshirt senior Madison Barney returned to the field as a starter on Sunday, for the first time since Barney scored her first goal after missing the last two years with an ACL injury. UCF will conclude its longest road trip of 2015 on Sept. 4 at Ole Miss. The Knights recorded a 3-2 victory over the Rebels in 2007, the teams only previous meeting. The game will mark UCF s second against an SEC opponent this season. Cincinnati notched a 1-0 home win against Providence College on Sunday, delivering the Friars their first loss of the season. Senior forward Danielle Rotheram scored the lone goal for the Bearcats. Goalkeepers Sam Pavlika and Natalie Smith combined for 12 saves over the weekend. Pavlika registered seven saves in 110:00 minutes in Cincinnati s 0-0 (2OT) draw against Lipscomb. Smith recorded five saves in 90:00 minutes against Providence. The Bearcats have shutout their opponents in the past three matches, which the team hasn t done since 2010 when they shutout four straight opponents. This week Cincinnati will begin its first roadtrip of the season, with a match against Colorado on Friday and Colorado College on Sunday. No. 25/NR UConn recorded the team s third consecutive win as they beat Navy 4-2 on Sunday, in Annapolis, Md. The Huskies outshot Navy 30-10, as four different players registered goals in the match; Rachel Hill in the 12th minute, Andrea Plucenik in the 58th minute, Stephanie Ribeiro in the 60th minute, and Kim Urbanek in the 76th minute. Rachel Hill currently leads UConn and ranks second in the league with nine points, including four goals and one assist on the season. Hill also ranks 10th in the NCAA national individual rankings for total goals (4), and points per game (3.00). On Thursday the Huskies will face Syracuse at home. The teams last meeting in 2014 ended in a 1-1 (2OT) draw. East Carolina endured the team s first loss of the season, 0-3, at William & Mary on Friday. The Tribe scored all three goals in the first half, despite the Pirates second half advantage in a corner kicks (5-1) and total shots (6-2). Although they outshot their opponents 9-6, the Pirates dropped their second straight match on Sunday, 0-3, at George Washington. Senior goalie Saundra Baron has played every minute of every match this season. Baron has recorded nine saves in 2015 and ranks fifth in the conference for saves. The Pirates third straight road match will take place on Friday when they travel to Harrisonburg, Va. to play James Madison. HOUSTON (0-3-0 Overall, American) MEMPHIS (2-1-0 Overall, American) USF RV/NR (3-0-0 Overall, American) SMU (1-2-1 Overall, American) Last:...Lost to Utah State, 0-2 Next:...Incarnate Word Last Five: Last:... Rice Last Five: Houston dropped both matches over the weekend, with a 1-4 loss to Utah on Friday and a 0-2 loss to Utah State on Sunday. Goalkeeper Jordan Brown combined for 12 saves in 180:00 minutes of play throughout the weekend. Brown is the league-leader in saves, with 17 in three games. The senior has also tallied 100 career saves, making her the seventh Cougar in program history to collect more than 100 saves. Sophomore forward Selena Peters recorded both hers and the Cougars first goal of the season. Peters second career goal was assisted by senior Hailey Kirkwood. On Friday Houston will host Incarnate Word, in the first meeting in program history between the teams. Memphis suffered a 1-5 loss against Samford on Friday, but rebounded on Sunday to defeat UAB 1-0. Necee Jennings scored her first career goal and the game-winner for the Tigers in the seventh minute of Sunday s match against UAB. Memphis defense held UAB to only five shots, with none in the second half. Goalkeeper Maryse Bard-Martel recorded three saves in the match. Junior Valerie Sanderson notched her first goal of the season in the 26th minute of the Tigers match against Samford. The Tigers will play Dartmouth in Tennessee on Friday. RV/NR USF topped LIU Brooklyn 5-0 at Corbett Stadium in Tampa, Fla on Friday, followed by a 3-0 win over Mississippi State on Sunday. The win lifted the Bulls to 3-0 on the season. Senior Olivia Chance tallied eight points on the weekend, recording three on Friday (one goal, one assist) and five points on Sunday (two goals, one assist). In the NCAA national individual rankings, Chance ranks sixth in game-winning goals (2), eighth in points per game (3.33) and 10th in goals per game (1.33), total goals (4), and total points (10). Defender Cristina Ferral registered her second goal of the season in Friday s match. Junior transfer Trudi Carter added two goals in the win over LIU. The Bulls travel to Mobile, Ala. to compete in the South Alabama Tournament this weekend. SMU picked up the team s first win of the season as they beat Texas Southern, 5-1. Five different players scored in the match; Lauren Guerra, Hannah Fleet, Vanessa Valadez, Claire Oates, and Chinelo Odobulu. Five goals against Texas Southern was the most goals in a regular season game for SMU since August 23, 2013 when the Mustangs beat Louisiana-Monroe, 6-1. Claire Oates now has two goals on the season, both via headers. Both goals have either tied or gave the Mustangs the lead. SMU is unbeaten this season in matches that Oates has scored a goal (1-0-1). The Mustangs will face Rice in Houston on Thursday. SMU is all-time against Rice. From 1986 to 2009, the Mustangs won 11 of 13 matches against the Owls. TEMPLE (3-0-0 Overall, American) TULSA (4-0-0 Overall, American) Last:... Beat Rider, 2-1 Next:... Lehigh Last Five: Temple won 2-1 on Tuesday night against Rider, and improved to 4-0 this season. Senior Kelly Farrell picked up her fourth goal of the season in Tuesday s match, and is now tied at first in the conference for goals (4) and tied at second for points (9). Senior goalkeeper Shauni Kerkhoff has only allowed one goal against in 309:49 minuites of play so far this season. She has recorded five saves. The Owls will play their first road contest on Friday, as they head to Rhodes Field to take on city rival Penn. Last:... Beat McNeese State, 3-0 Next:... Missouri State Last Five: Tulsa remains undefeated after recording two shutout wins over the weekend. The Hurricane beat SIUE 2-0 on Friday, and McNeese State 3-0 on Sunday. Christina Holmes scored a goal in each of Tulsa s last two games, combining for six points on the season. Sierra Krenik, a three-year starter at defender, tallied her first career goal in the 36th minute of the Hurricane s match against McNeese State. The awards are chosen by a vote of the league s 10 head coaches at the conclusion of the regular season and will be announced shortly thereafter.
