Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. on FOX College Sports. u Freshman point guard Chrislyn Carr sits fourth in the Big 12 with 17.8 points per game. She is the top freshman nationally and the Big 12. Carr is the top ranking freshman in the NCAA in five categories including points per game (17.8), total points (517), FGs made (187), FG attempts (508) and 3-pt attempts (234). u The Lady Raiders are sitting in the Top 15 nationally in three rebounding categories. Tech is averaging rebounds per game, which ranks No. 12 in the NCAA and 2nd in the Big 12. THE MARLENE STOLLINGS EFFECT u Marlene Stollings was named the seventh head coach of Lady Raider Basketball on April 11, She spent the last four seasons at the University of Minnesota where she led the Golden Gophers to two NCAA Tournament appearances and three 20-win seasons. u After capturing the win over Oklahoma State on Feb. 9, the Lady Raiders surpassed their win total in Big 12 play from last season. u With a win over Texas Southern on Dec. 22, the Lady Raiders surpassed their win total from last season and Head Coach Marlene Stollings recorded the best start by a Lady Raider head coach in their first season since the season when Head Coach Gay Benson started the season 8-2. u It took 14 games for Coach Stollings to earn her 10th win of the season. She was the fastest first-year head coach to 10 wins since Hall of Fame Head Coach Marsha Sharp earned her 10th win after 14 games during the season. SETTING NEW STANDARDS u The Lady Raiders have reached new heights in Coach Marlene s first season at the helm. u With 12 wins on the season, the Lady Raiders surpassed their win total from last season (7-23). u The Lady Raiders have quadroupled their win total in Big 12 play from last season after finishing out the season with four wins in league play. u After the win on Sunday, the Lady Raiders earned the series sweep over the Jayhawks for the first Big 12 sweep since the season. u This is the first season the Lady Raiders have had two road wins in a single season since the season when Tech defeated West Virginia (1/14) and Kansas (2/15) during the season. u The win against OU on Tuesday was the first over the Sooners since March 5, 2011 and it also marked the first time the Lady Raiders have split the season series with the Sooners since the season. BROKEN RECORDS u The Lady Raiders set a new school record for most points in a fourth quarter after scoring 31 points in the final period against Oklahoma State (2/9). The new high broke the previous record of 29 points against Alcorn State on Dec. 18, u The Lady Raiders set a new school record for most three-pointers made in a quarter during the Texas game on Jan. 26. Tech opened the game with 7 made threes. u Tech s 27 points in the opening quarter was the most in a first quarter during a Big 12 game in program history. u The Lady Raiders broke a couple of quarter school records against ACU. Tech scored 33 points in the 2nd quarter, the most in a 2nd period. The Lady Raiders also had 10 assists in the 1st quarter, marking the most in school history. u Freshman Chrislyn Carr tied a 14 year old school record on Saturday as she made nine 3-pointers against Nevada (12/15). The previous record was set by Alesha Robertson when she hit nine threes against Miami on Dec. 6, u 21 attempts also sets a new Big 12 record. The previous record of 19 was set by Andrea Riley of Oklahoma State vs. Duke (11/14/08). u Carr also broke a 24 year old school record when she recorded 21 3-point FG attempts at Nevada.The previous record of 13 attempts was held by Noel Johnson who tied her own record three times during the season. GAME #29 RECAP: Oklahoma u The Lady Raiders sent senior Zuri Sanders out with a bang as Texas Tech defeated Oklahoma, 88-82, on Senior Night. u The first quarter was a back-and-forth battle, but the Lady Raiders charged back and extended their lead out to 14 points at the half. Texas Tech outscored OU, 23-7, in the second period alone. u The third quarter was another tight one, but the Lady Raiders held onto a 16-point lead heading into the final period. u The Sooners took advantage of a 14-0 run to cut down the Lady Raiders lead to just two with 4:38 left in the game. OU connected on a few more shots and took the lead after Madi Williams hit a layup to make it u Freshman point guard Chrislyn Carr hit floater in the paint to regain the lead. With just 26 seconds left of the clock, Oklahoma was forced to foul and the Lady Raiders knocked down seven of the last eight free throws to secure the win. TexasTech.com

3 u This was the 57th meeting between Texas Tech and Oklahoma. The Lady Raiders improved to all-time vs. the Sooners. u This is the first time the Lady Raiders have split the season series with Oklahoma since the season. u Texas Tech had two players score 20+ points for the second time this season. Chrislyn Carr led the team with 26 points while Sydney Goodson followed with 20 points of her own. u The Lady Raiders scored 20+ points in the three of the four quarters tonight, marking the first time since Tech scored in the first three quarters against Abilene Christian. u Tech s 26 points in the third quarter was the most scored in a quarter since the Lady Raiders scored 27 in the second quarter at Kansas. u The Lady Raiders forced a season high 29 turnovers by the Sooners. u Senior forward Zuri Sanders tallied 15 points and 14 rebounds to mark her 7th double double of the season and 10th of her career. The 15 points marked Sanders 8th double digit point game of the season and 15th of her career. The 14 rebounds marked her 17th double digit rebound game of the season and 22nd of her career. u Freshman point guard Chrislyn Carr led the team with 26 points, marking her 7th 20-point game of the season. u Sophomore guard Sydney Goodson scored a career high 20 points in the contest. She also had four assists and three steals against the Sooners. u Junior forward Kiara Shoals recorded a career high eight points and a career high six rebounds against the Sooners. OFFENSIVELY SOUND u Texas Tech went 9-for-10 (.900) from the charity stripe against Texas on Saturday. The last time the Lady Raiders shot 90 percent or better from the FT line was on Jan. 4, 2017 when Tech went 25-for-26 (.962) from the FT line. u The Lady Raiders had four players in double figures on Sunday against KU. It was the 10th time this season that Tech has had 4+ players in double figures. Tech is 8-2 when four or more score 10+ points. u The Lady Raiders had their best performance from the three-point line during Big 12 play against Texas. Tech shot 42.9 percent, making a season best 12 three-pointers. This is the third time this season that the Lady Raiders have made 10+ three pointers. Nine of Tech s 10 came from Carr against Nevada (12/15). Prior to the season, the Lady Raiders last made 10 3-PT FGs against Incarnate Word (12/21/17). u The Lady Raiders had their best offensive showing under Coach Marlene Stollings in the win over ACU. Tech shot 58.7 percent from the field and 52.4 percent from the 3-pt line. u The 105 total points scored against ACU was the most points scored since season. It was also the first time the Lady Raiders have hit the 100-point mark since season. Texas Tech scored 113 points against Southeastern Louisiana (Nov. 21, 2015). u The Lady Raiders scored 63 points in the first half, the most since Tech scored 56 in the second half against Oral Roberts on Dec. 15, ON THE GLASS u Texas Tech recorded 52 total rebounds in the win over Oklahoma State (2/9) for the seventh 50+rebound game of the season. The last time Tech had 50+ rebounds prior to this season was when the Lady Raiders recorded 71 against New Mexico on Nov. 20, u The Lady Raiders outrebounded the Cyclones, 46-39, marking the 20th time this season that Tech has led the rebounding margin. Texas Tech is 12-8 when leading the rebounding margin. CHRISLYN CARR u Freshman Chrislyn Carr was named Big 12 Freshman of the Year after an impressive rookie season. She is the third Lady Raider in program history to win the award and the first since Erin Grant won the award in u Carr was also named to the Big 12 All-Freshman team, becoming just the fourth rookie in school history to earn the honor. Carr was also the only freshman in the league to be selected to the All-Big 12 Honorable Mention team. u Carr recorded her 25th double-digit point game of the season with 26 points against Oklahoma to close out the season. She has scored 20+ points in seven games this season. u She has scored 19+ points in 16 of the 29 games played and has scored 17+ points in 19 of the 29 games played this season. u Carr was named Big 12 Freshman of the Week for the fifth time this season, becoming the first Lady Raider rookie to win the award five or more times since Japreece Dean won six times during the season. u Carr wrote her name into the records book with a career night at Nevada (12/15). The rookie scored 35 points, becoming the first Lady Raider to score 35+points since u She broke the school record for the most 3-pt attempts in a game with 21. Carr became the first Lady Raider in program history and seventh Big 12 player to earn the award. BRITTANY BREWER u Junior Brittany Brewer scored 20 points for her ninth 20-point game of the season against K-State (3/2). She has had double figures in 23 games this season and is on a four-game streak. u Brewer tallied another block against the Sooner, improving her season total to 62 blocks. She has 153 career blocks which ranks No. 6 in school history, just one blocks behind Stacey Siebert (86-90) who had 154 blocks in her career. She is just the third Lady Raider in school history to earn the award and the first to earn it in back-to-back seasons. She was also one of four Lady Raiders named to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team. It is the second straight year Brewer has earned a spot on the league academic teams. u Brewer was named Big 12 Co-Player of the Week for her 25.0 ppg and 11.0 rpg average for the week. She put up 27 points and 11 rebounds at TCU (1/16). u In the win over Houston Baptist (11/24), Brewer posted a career high 34 points and 13 rebounds. She also set a new career high for most FGs made (16). She was the first Lady Raider since the season to score 30+ points. ZURI SANDERS u Senior Zuri Sanders recorded 15 points and 14 rebounds to mark her seventh double double of the season and 10th of her career in the win over Oklahoma (3/5). u She tallied 20 rebounds against Southern (12/18), becoming the first Lady Raider in 28 years to the day to record 20+ rebounds in a single game. The last player to reach 20-rebounds was Tami Wilson when she put up 23 boards against San Diego State on Dec. 18, u Sanders is just the ninth player in school history to have 20+ boards during a game. SYDNEY GOODSON u Sophomore Sydney Goodson has been on a roll for the Lady Raiders. She has scored double figures in nine of the last 11 games including a career high 20 points against Oklahoma (3/5). u She made a career high five 3-pointers against West Virginia and tied a career high with four steals. u Goodson recorded her second career double double with 14 points and 10 rebounds against Oklahoma State (2/9). u She currently sits third on the team with 10.7 points per game and leads the Lady Raiders and ranks sixth in the Big 12 with her 37.7 percent shooting average from beyond the arc. u Goodson has played all 40 minutes in seven of the last eight games and is averaging 36.1 minutes per game, the most on the team. ERYKA SIDNEY u In the win over ACU (12/29), Eryka Sidney posted a career high 15 assists. u She became the first Lady Raider to record 15+ assists in a single game since Melinda Schmucker had 17 assists against Grambling State on March 13, #THEMOVEMENT u Lexi Gordon, a UConn mid-year transfer, highlights the new regime under Marlene Stollings. The 6-foot guard from Hurst, Texas, comes to Lubbock after spending her freshman season with the top-ranked UConn Huskies. Prior to UConn, Gordon was a four-year letterwinner for L.D. Bell High School in Hurst, Texas. She averaged 24.7 points and 9.5 rebounds per game during her senior season and is the all-time scorer with more than 2,000 points. Coming out of high school, Gordon was a 5-star recruit and the 29th-ranked player in the country. The newcomer was a candidate for the 2015 Under-16 United States national team and the 2016 Under-17 United States national team. u Renetha Shug Dickson joined the roster as a mid-year transfer. Dickson is a 5-9 guard from St. Louis, Mo. She spent her first two seasons at the University of Tulsa. In her rookie season, She made school history by becoming the first freshman with three consecutive 20-point scoring games. Dickson had a career night recording 21 points, four assists, and four rebounds against No. 1 UConn. Following the season, she was tabbed to The American All-Freshman team. This four-star recruit is the 12th-ranked player in her position and ranks in the top 70 amongst the 2019 class. u Nailah Dillard is a 5-10 guard from Sacramento, Calif. She plays for Inderkum High School in Sacramento, Calif., and drives six hours to play for West Coast Premier. Dillard is a three-time all-league selection and was named to the All-State Second Team. u Ricka Maka Jackson is a 5-8 guard from Manassas, Va. She is the no. 15 ranked JUCO player in the country. 6 GAME 30: Oklahoma - Big 12 Championship MARLENE STOLLINGS TEXAS TECH HEAD COACH Texas Tech Director of Athletics Kirby Hocutt announced on April 9, 2018, the hiring of Marlene Stollings as the seventh head coach of Lady Raider Basketball. Stollings comes to Lubbock after four record-setting seasons at the University of Minnesota. Stollings has a history of turnaround success having transformed three programs in her head coaching career. Most recently, she led the Minnesota Gophers to remarkable success, some of which had not been seen in over a decade. A portion of the highlights include four WNBA Draft picks (two were Top 5 selections), two Big Ten Players of the Year, Big Ten Freshman of the Year, three 20-win seasons and three postseason appearances. This past season, Stollings team tied a school record with four wins over Top-25 programs and engineered the best season the Gophers had experienced in 13 years finishing with 24 wins. She led the Gophers to the NCAA second round which was a first for the program in nine years. Stollings is known as one of the best offensive minds in women s college basketball, she set records at Minnesota that had never before been reached in the program s 47 year history. Most notably, points in a season (2,803), points per game (84.9 ranking third nationally), field goals made (997), and fewest turnovers (412) in a season. Additionally, the school record pointers made were the second most in Big Ten Conference history. Stollings ranks as the second-fastest coach to accumulate 50 wins in Minnesota history and reached her 100th win in She is a voting member of the WBCA All-American team and Wade Trophy Award. CONTINUED HISTORY AND RECORD SETTING Prior to taking over the reins at Minnesota, Stollings was the head coach at VCU for two seasons. Stollings spent two successful years at VCU where she led the Rams in one of the top turnarounds in the nation in The team posted a overall record and earned a berth in the 2014 WNIT. VCU s 22 wins were the third-most in program history and gave the Rams just their sixth 20-win season in school history. Before VCU, Stollings led a one-year resurgence at Winthrop University in , where the Eagles posted just their second winning season (18-13) in the last 26 years of the program. She was selected 2012 Big South Conference Coach of the Year in her first year as a collegiate head coach. Stollings guided Winthrop to more than 40 team and individual school records. WNBA DRAFT PICKS While at Minnesota, Stollings created a pipeline for her players to get to the WNBA. In the 2015 draft, Minnesota had two players selected in the same season. Amanda Zahui B. was chosen second overall by the Tulsa Shock and Shae Kelly went 35th to the Minnesota Lynx, with whom she went on to win a WNBA Championship later that season. The next year, Rachel Banham was drafted fourth overall by the Connecticut Sun. Both Zahui B. and Banham were the first Big Ten prospects picked in their respective drafts. Minnesota was one of only two schools in the country with a first round pick in both 2015 and During the 2018 WNBA Draft, Carlie Wagner was selected by the Minnesota Lynx in the third round, marking Stollings fourth draft pick in four seasons. Vivian Stringer - Rutgers). ON THE RECRUITING TRAIL During her career, Stollings has seen tremendous success on the recruiting trail. Her first signee at Minnesota was highly-recruited transfer Shae Kelley, who went on to earn All-Big Ten recognition and be selected in the WNBA Draft. Stollings signed ESPN s No. 62 recruit in the nation, Destiny Pitts. Shortly after being named head coach at VCU, Stollings assembled a six-player recruiting class that ranked 38th nationally and third-highest among non-bcs programs. Stollings served as an assistant and associate head coach at SEC Power Ole Miss from She helped sign arguably the best recruiting class in nearly 30 years in 2009, including Mississippi Gatorade Player of the Year and Mississippi Miss Basketball Valencia McFarland. Ole Miss had two additional classes ranked in the top-50 in 2010 (42nd) and 2011 (39th), during her tenure with the Rebels. ACADEMIC POWERHOUSE Stollings has maintained a 100 percent graduation rate for all student-athletes who have completed their eligibility under her tutelage. Her teams have regularly excelled in the classroom earning numerous awards. Most recently at Minnesota her student-athlete s earned over 20 academic ALL-BIG Ten honoree selections, five Big Ten Distinguished Scholar awards and four CoSIDA academic All-American honorees. PLAYING EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION A native of Beaver, Ohio, Stollings is considered one of the finest scorers to ever play in the basketball-rich state of Ohio (Beaver-Eastern HS). She was named Ohio s Miss Basketball in 1993 and earned two-time Division III High School Player of the Year and four-time conference Player of the Year honors. She garnered Kodak All-America recognition her senior season and her name currently appears more than 30 times in the OHSAA (Ohio High School Athletic Association) record books. Stollings still holds the state high school basketball scoring record (boys and girls) with 3,514 points, ahead of LeBron James 2,657. She was inducted into the Ohio Basketball Hall of Fame in May Prior to starting her coaching career, Stollings played one season professionally for Club ABB Baden in Switzerland. While playing professionally in Europe, Stollings coached a men s club team to an undefeated season. She was later invited to the WNBA s Utah Starzz training camp in Stollings began her collegiate playing career at Ohio State University. She was a two-time scholar-athlete for the Buckeyes. Stollings then moved to Ohio University where she earned first-team All-Mid-American Conference honors after finishing eighth in the nation and leading the league in scoring at 22.9 points per game her senior year. Stollings graduated in 1998 from Ohio University where she earned a bachelor s degree in Business Administration in Marketing and a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Industry.
