Participation in athletics at Patriot League institutions is viewed as an important component of a wellrounded education Corporate Parkway, Suite 190 Center Valley, Pa ; Fax All 10 teams in action on opening weekend of Standings as of Patriot League Overall W-L Pct H A Streak W-L Pct H A N Streak American Army Boston U Bucknell Colgate Holy Cross Lafayette Lehigh Loyola Md Navy Patriot League Twitter Notebook *All 10 Patriot League teams open the season this weekend, with eight tipping off on Friday. *Army plays games on both Saturday and Sunday in the All-Military Classic in Lexington, Va. *The Black Knights face Air Force on Friday at 1 p.m. on ESPNU, and play VMI or The Citadel Saturday night on ESPN3. *The Colgate-Wake Forest and Lehigh-Minnesota games will also be on ESPN3 Friday night. *Lafayette-Villanova (Fox Sports 2) and Bucknell-Stanford (Pac-12 Network Bay Area) also have television coverage. *Boston University and Holy Cross open their seasons on Sunday afternoon at TD Garden in Boston. *The Terriers face Northeastern (12:30 p.m.) and the Crusaders take on Harvard (5:30 p.m.). *Both games will be shown on New England Sports Network (NESN). *Loyola Maryland begins its Patriot League era with games at Binghamton on Friday and Cornell on Sunday. *The first home games are not until Tuesday when both Lafayette and Lehigh play on their own courts. *Every Patriot League home game, except those on CBS Sports Network, will be shown for free on Patriot League Network. Patriot League Notebook Season Tips Off on the Road For Patriot League Squads All 10 Patriot League teams will play at least once on the opening weekend, but none will set foot on their own home floor. The season begins on Friday with eight teams in action, beginning with Army taking on Air Force at 1 p.m. on ESPNU. Additioal broadcast contests on the opening night include Colgate at Wake Forest (/ESPN3), Lafayette at Villanova (8 p.m./fox Sports 2), Lehigh at Minnesota (8 p.m./espn3) and Bucknell at Stanford (10 p.m./pac-12 Network), while Loyola Maryland begins its Patriot League era at Binghamton, Navy is at Towson and American visits George Mason. Army is the only team in action Saturday when it faces VMI or The Citadel in the second game of the All-Military Classic (ESPN3) while Sunday s action features Boston University taking on Northeastern (12:30 p.m./nesn) and Holy Cross facing Harvard (5:30 p.m./nesn) in games played at TD Garden in Boston. Loyola also plays a second game for the weekend when it visits Cornell at 4 p.m. Every Patriot league Home Game to be Broadcast in With the creation of Patriot League Network (PLN), every home contest will be shown for all 10 teams throughout the season. All home games, both in non-league and Patriot League play, will be streamed live for free on PLN with the exception of the games scheduled for broadcast on CBS Sports Network. In addition to the Patriot League Network and CBS Sports Network coverage, numerous games will be shown on national and regional television outlets including ESPNU, Fox Sports 1 and the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN). Boston University Opens Patriot League Era as Preseason Favorite Boston University picked up all 18 available first-place selections to start its Patriot League tenure as the unanimous preseason favorite from opposing coaches and sports information directors. The Terriers totaled 162 points to come in front of second-place Lafayette, which totaled 130 points and two first-place votes. Army (115), Bucknell (113) and Loyola University Maryland (109) were all closely grouped in the next three spots, and followed in order by Lehigh (93), Holy Cross (70), Colgate (49), American (36) and Navy (23). *Notebook continues on page two. 1

Irving, Boston University (Sr., G) Mackey McKnight, Lehigh (Sr., G) Patriot League Notebook BU s Irving Named Patriot League Preseason Player of the Year Boston University enters the Patriot League with the Preseason Player of the Year, as senior guard DJ Irving was given the honor by poll voters. Irving was joined on the senior-laden Preseason All-Patriot League Team by Bucknell guard Cameron Ayers, Loyola Maryland guard Dylon Cormier, Lehigh guard Mackey McKnight and Holy Cross forward Dave Dudzinski. 15 Patriot League Contests to Be Shown On CBS Sports Network The Patriot League Men s Basketball Championship will be televised on CBS Sports Network for the third year in a row on Wednesday, March 12 at 7:30 p.m., while CBSSN will also air both semifinal games of the Patriot League Men s Basketball Tournament on Saturday, March 8 at 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. The postseason contests are part of a 15-game schedule of Patriot League men s basketball on CBS Sports Network in Boston University, Loyola Maryland Join in Boston University and Loyola University Maryland enter the Patriot League for their first season in It is the first time in more than a decade that the League s make-up changed, dating back to American s entrance in the season. With the Terriers and Greyhounds joing the group, the Patriot League schedule will remain a double round-robin with each team playing 18 League games. The Patriot League schedule begins on Jan Patriot League Tournament The 2013 Patriot League Tournament features an expanded field with all 10 schools included. The League tourney begins with the first round on Monday, March 3 followed by the quarterfinals two days later. The semifinals will be played on Saturday, March 8 at 3:30 and 5:30 p.m., with the Patriot League Championship held on Wednesday, March 12 at 7:30 p.m. Media Services Patriot League On The Web PatriotLeague.org features the latest news and stories on all eight Patriot League members. Five All-Patriot League Players Back in Five players who earned All-Patriot League status last season return to the floor in Bucknell senior guard Cameron Ayers was a first-team All-League selection, while Colgate senior forward Murphy Burnatowski, Holy Cross senior forward Dave Dudzinski, Lafayette junior guard Seth Hinrichs and Lehigh senior guard Mackey McKnight all made the second team. Four incoming Patriot Leaguers also earned recognition from their conferences, as Boston University s D.J. Irving was on the first team while Maurice Watson Jr. and Dom Morris were on the third team in the America East and Loyola Maryland s Dylon Cormier was a first-team pick in the MAAC. Three Patriot Leaguers Earn Preseason Honors Boston University guard DJ Irving and Bucknell guard Cameron Ayers were regarded among the top Mid-Major players when they were placed on the Lou Henson Preseason All-America Team by CollegeInsider.com. Irving and Ayers were among 25 Mid-Major players selected. Irving and Colgate s Murphy Burnatowski were each honorable mention picks on the Mid- Major squad at NBCSports.com. BU Rated No. 11 Among Mid-Majors by NBCSports.com In addition to being named preseason Patriot League favorite, Boston University has been placed among the top Mid-Major teams in the country. The Terriers earned the No. 11 ranking from NBCSports.com, with writer Kevin Doyle stating: In their first year in the Patriot League, the Terriers will be the prohibitive favorite to win the league. The combination of D.J. Irving and Maurice Watson in the backcourt is one of the best among mid-majors. Patriot Leaguers Come From All Over Country, World The rosters for men s basketball teams feature players from 31 different states and the District of Columbia, with a Leaguehigh 16 student-athletes from Pennsylvania. In addition to the diversity within the USA, rosters include 11 players from foreign countries. That list features four Canadians, two Australians and one from Spain, England, Serbia, Nigeria and Greece. Top Opponents Highlight Non-League Schedules The first two months of the season will feature a non-league schedule that includes a minimum of 19 games against last year s NCAA Tournament teams and at least 39 against squads which played in one of the four Division I postseason events. There are eight opponents who have earned a preseason top 25 ranking from the Associated Press and ESPN/ USA Today Top 25 Coaches Poll. 2

The Eagles lose both Stephen Lumpkins (14.5 ppg, 9.4 rpg) and Daniel Munoz (10.3 ppg, 3.6 apg) from last year s team, and do not bring back any players that averaged double digits a season ago... John Schoof (9.6 ppg, 2.5 apg) and Tony Wroblicky (7.8 ppg, 6.1 rpg) are the top returnees, while no other player averaged more than four points per game a season ago...junior guard Darius Gardner is eligible after sitting out last season following a transfer from Stephen F. Austin, where he averaged 4.7 points and led the team in assists as a sophomore in American will challenge itself during the non-league schedule, playing just three home games while going to George Mason, No. 10/11 Ohio State and St. Mary s (Calif.)...After opening at George Mason on Friday night, the Eagles do no return to action until next Thursday when they take on UMBC in their home opener. ARMY The Black Knights had their first-ever winning Patriot League record and first winning overall mark since last season, and have plenty of key pieces back...kyle Wilson (13.0 ppg) was named Patriot League Rookie of the Year while Dylan Cox (5.8 ppg, 5.0 rpg), Kevin Ferguson (3.5 ppg, 3.1 rpg) and Larry Toomey (6.2 ppg, 3.7 rpg) all emerged as key contributors in their freshman seasons...the Black Knights have the veteran leadership of Josh Herbeck (7.9 ppg), though they do lose two significant scorers in first-team All-League selection Ella Ellis (17.0 ppg) and Kyle Toth (8.2 ppg)...army has a large roster that includes seven incoming freshman who competed for the United States Military Academy Preparatory School last season...army once again opens in the All-Military Classic, this time in Lexington, Va...Army plays Air Force on Friday at 1 p.m. on ESPNU, then takes on either host VMI or The Citadel Saturday on ESPN3. BOSTON UNIVERSITY The Terriers wear the bulls-eye entering their first season in the Patriot League, and were picked first in the preseason poll for good reason with a host of top players returning...senior guard DJ Irving was named the Patriot League Preseason Player of the Year after averaging 14.2 points and 3.6 assists per game to earn first-team America East recognition last year... Senior forward Dom Morris was a third-team America East pick with 11.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per game, while sophomore guard Maurice Watson Jr. had 11.2 points and 5.4 assists per game to join Morris on the third team...the Terriers have every player who averaged more than two points per game back this year...boston University plays games against No. 18/19 Connecticut, Harvard, Maryland and Saint Joseph s...the Terriers open against Northeastern on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. at TD Garden on NESN before playing their home opener versus UMass-Lowell on Wednesday. BUCKNELL Bucknell s class of 2013 produced an unprecendented three consecutive outright regular-season titles, two trips to the NCAA Tournament and another to the NIT..Now the Bison must make up for the loss of Mike Muscala, who stands fourth in Patriot League history in scoring and second in rebounding and blocked shots, as well as Joe Willman and Bryson Johnson..The Bison do bring back one very important piece in preseason All-Patriot League pick Cameron Ayers (12.4 ppg, 4.0 rpg), who finished second on the team in scoring last year...no other returning player averaged more than three points per game last year, though Ryan Frazier, Steven Kaspar and Ryan Hill shared the point guard position while Brian Fitzpatrick and Dom Hoffman saw time in the frontcourt...bucknell opens its season by visiting Stanford Friday at 10 p.m. on Pac-12 Network, then going to Penn State on Wednesday. COLGATE Colgate had its best season in three years in , going overall and 5-9 in the Patriot League to finish a tie for fifth place..while the Raiders lose some pieces from that squad, they have one of the top scorers in the Patriot League back...murphy Burnatowski averaged 17.4 points and 5.1 rebounds per game last year, and is the League s top returning scorer...he has help from a couple of returning starters with second-leading scorer Pat Moore (9.8 ppg) and Luke Roh (4.7 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 3.5 apg) back on the floor...the Raiders can also look to newcomers to fill in some of the departures from the roster...austin Tillotson and Ethan Jacobs are both ready to step in after sitting out last season following a transfer to Colgate, while a handful of other returnees saw time last year and five freshmen have been added to the roster...colgate plays a daunting non-league schedule that starts with a trip to Wake Forest on Friday at on ESPN3 and follows with a visit up the road to No. 7/8 Syracuse on Nov

Cullen Hamilton (6.3 ppg) and Malcolm Miller (5.7) provide additional scoring options for the Crusaders, though the graduation of three players from last year s team means that no other returnee averaged more than three points per game...holy Cross takes on perhaps the most difficult non-league schedule of all 10 teams, facing five squads who made the NCAA Tournament last season with trips to No. 11/12 North Carolina on Nov. 15 and national runnerup No. 7/9 Michigan on Dec. 28..The Crusaders start off against one of those NCAA squads, Harvard, on Sunday at 5:30 p.m. at TD Garden on NESN before opening their home schedule against Sacred Heart on Wednesday. LAFAYETTE The Leopards hope to make the final step in after finishing as Patriot League runner-up in three of the last four seasons, though they will have to replace first-team All-Patriot League pick Tony Johnson at point guard...seth Hinrichs was the team s leading scorer last season with 14.5 points per game, and is currently the Patriot League all-time leader with a 45.9% mark from three-point range...dan Trist (12.4 ppg), Joey Ptasinski (9.6 ppg) and Bryce Scott (8.2 ppg) are also back for a team that won seven straight games before falling to Bucknell in the League title contest...six other players saw action in at least 20 games last year...lafayette has seven road games on its non-league schedule, including a trip to Villanova to open the season on Friday at 8 p.m. on Fox Sports 2...Lafayette plays its first home game Tuesday against Robert Morris. McCollum, as well as 1,000-point scorers Holden Greiner and Gabe Knutson, from last year s squad..lehigh s top returning scorer is Mackey McKnight (11.9 ppg)...the preseason All-Patriot League guard also led the League with 4.9 assists per game last year, and will look to dish off to long-range shooters Anthony D Orazio (6.4 ppg), Stefan Cvrklaj (4.7 ppg) and Corey Schaefer (4.6 ppg)...justin Goldsborough and Conroy Baltimore have experience in the frontcourt, while Lehigh also brings in six freshmen and has Jesse Chuku ready to go after sitting out last season...the Mountain Hawks take on a non-league schedule that features visits to a trio of tough early road games, beginning with Friday s trip to Minnesota at 8 p.m. on ESPN3...Lehigh begins its home slate on Tuesday against Rider. LOYOLA MARYLAND Loyola Maryland enters its transition to the Patriot League with plenty of transition on the roster, with first-year Head Coach G.G. Smith taking over a team that lost three of its top four scorers after making the quarterfinals of the College Insider Tournament (CIT) last season... The good news for the Greyhounds is the return of top scorer Dylon Cormier (16.4 ppg, 4.6 rpg), who leads all Patriot League players with 1,213 points in his career...while three players are gone who combined for over 35 points per game, the cupboard is not bare with RJ Williams (4.9 ppg, 4.0 apg) entering his junior season after playing in only 17 games last year...five other student-athletes who played in at least 27 games last season also return to the court for the Greyhounds in Loyola Maryland will take on a non-league schedule that includes games against No. 18/19 Connecticut, West Virginia, Saint Joseph s and Miami (Fla.)..The Greyhounds open up with road games at Binghamton on Friday and Cornell on Sunday before opening their home slate against former conference foe Fairfield on Nov. 16. NAVY The transition continues for Navy in its third season with Head Coach Ed DeChellis, but the Mids can now point to a number of key returnees from last year s young squad...there are still only two seniors on the roster, with juniors Worth Smith (10.2 ppg) and Brandon Venturini (8.8 ppg) and sophomore Tilman Dunbar (9.5 ppg, 4.9 apg) back after leading the team in scoring last season... Dunbar also finished second in the Patriot League in assists as a freshman...navy s next three scorers, Kendall Knorr, Kevin Alter and Thurgood Wynn, also return to the roster along with four others who saw action in at least 20 games last year...navy plays seven of its non-league games on the road, though the Mids do have a three-game homestand against UMBC, Maryland Eastern Shore and The Citadel from Nov. 23-Dec. 4...The Mids open at Towson on Friday and St. Francis (Pa.) on Monday before playing their home opener on Wednesday versus Goucher. 4
