All 11 Aztec players appearing in that contest scored at least one basket, including McKynzie Fort and Ariel Bostick, who led the team with 13 points apiece, while Lexy Thorderson (10 pts) reached double digits as well. SDSU's 34 victories over Air Force are the school's most over any current Mountain West team, ahead of New Mexico (28), UNLV (28) and Wyoming (28). The Aztecs have defeated the Falcons on 19 of the last 21 occasions, including 12 straight from Feb. 19, 2011 to Feb. 13, In those 19 wins, SDSU's average margin of victory was 19.3 points. Scouting the Falcons Air Force (1-19, 1-8 MW) is coming off an open date of its own after dropping a decision at Fresno State on Jan. 29. Prior to that defeat, the Falcons lost three straight games by a total of five points vs. San José State (75-74), Colorado State (40-39) and at Boise State (49-46). During that stretch, Air Force picked up its first victory of the year with a triumph over Utah State at home. The Falcons also experienced some bad luck during their non-conference schedule, falling by seven points or less in six games against Eastern Washington (65-63 (OT)), at Florida International (70-69), at Navy (71-64), vs. Colorado Christian (68-66), vs. Army West Point (65-59) and at Utah Valley (59-56). Offensively, Air Force is led by freshman Kaelin Immel, who ranks eighth in the Mountain West with 14.9 points per game, including a season-high 26 vs. San José State on Jan. 13. The Falcon guard tops the squad with 44 three-point field-goals, while her average of 2.6 triples per contest is fifth in the league entering the weekend. Air Force has also received a boost from senior Cortney Porter and freshman Emily Conroe, who are averaging 9.6 points for all games. Porter leads the conference in steals (3.0/gm) and occupies the third spot in assists (4.3/gm), while fellow classmate Dee Bennett finds herself among the league's top 10 in steals (T-3rd, 2.0/gm) and rebounds (8th, 6.5/gm). Erika Chapman is another senior who has made a sizeable contribution this year with 7.0 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. The Falcon guard currently ranks 11th in the MW with a.742 free-throw percentage. As a team, Air Force tops the Mountain West in steals (10.9/gm) and ranks among the top half of the conference in turnover margin (2nd, +3.3), scoring defense (65.5/gm), blocked shots (4th, 3.4/gm) and offensive rebounds (4th, 12.3/gm) However the Falcons are averaging just 55.7 points per game, shooting a league-worst 34.6 percent from the field, including a 26.8 percent pace from beyond the arc. Conversely, Air Force opponents are connecting on 44.8 percent of their attempts from the floor, including a 33.5 clip from three-point territory. A total of 11 states are represented on the Falcons roster and inactive list, featuring three players from Colorado, two from Oregon, Tennessee and Virginia, and one apiece from Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Minnesota, Texas and Utah. SDSU moves to 3-4 on the year in games played on a Saturday. Last Time Out: Aztecs Unable to Withstand UNLV Rally San Diego State seniors Geena Gomez and Khalia Lark scored 17 points apiece last Saturday, but it wasn't enough as visiting UNLV roared back from an 18-point deficit to hand the Aztec women's basketball team a disappointing defeat in front of 4,568 fans at Steve Fisher Court on Girls and Women in Sports Day. SDSU (9-11, 3-6 MW) build a seemingly comfortable advantage with 5:33 left in the second period before the Lady Rebels fought back with a 23-0 run through halftime to vault in front by the 6:06 mark of the third quarter. The two sides slugged it out through 11 lead changes and six ties in the second half, with the Aztecs inching ahead for the final time at following a jumper by senior McKynzie Fort at the 5:53 mark of the fourth period. However, the Scarlet and Black ran out of gas at this juncture, as UNLV (11-8, 6-2 MW) seized momentum with a 16-4 closing run to hand SDSU its second straight loss and fourth in its last five outings. Fort, who entered the contest as the league's second-leading scorer, was held in check for the second game in a row, posting just 10 points on 4-of-12 shooting. However, the 5-9 guard matched her career-best with a game-high eight assists and two blocks. Lark (7-10) and Gomez (6-12) were a combined 13-for 22 from the floor (59.1 percent), including an 8-for-13 effort on three-point field-goal attempts (61.5 percent). Gomez set a career-high with five triples in six attempts to go with six rebounds and six assists, while Lark drained three of her four tries from beyond the arc. However, the Scarlet and Black experienced another secondhalf shooting drought, connecting on just 11 of 35 field-goals (31.4 percent) after a 14-for-26 effort (53.8 percent) in the first two quarters. Conversely, the Lady Rebels were (50.0 percent) from the field in the second half, following a 9-for-31 clip (29.0 percent) in the first 20 minutes. Brooke Johnson scored 17 of her game-high 23 points in the second half, while Katie Powell notched a double-double with 21 points and 16 rebounds, followed by Nikki Wheatley, who finished with 12 points and six rebounds of her own. UNLV maintained a advantage on the boards while outscoring the Aztecs in the paint, including a 24-6 spread in the second half. SDSU was primed for an early knockout punch, unleashing a 14-0 blitz over a four-and-a-half minute span in the first quarter to grab a sizeable 16-3 lead following a Gomez triple at the 3:57 mark. The Lady Rebels crept within nearly two minutes later, but a Lark jumper followed by senior Arantxa Gomez Ferrer's layup restored the Aztecs' double-digit lead at by the end of the period. The Scarlet and Black stretched the margin to 18 midway through the second quarter as Lark drained another basket, while freshman Te'a Adams sank a free throw to give the hosts a cushion. The SDSU offense went into a funk at this point, missing 12 straight shots through the halftime break while committing six turnovers. For the next 9:20, the contest turned into a see-saw affair, as neither side was able to build on a lead larger than four points. Trailing 60-59, the Lady Rebels scored six straight points on two Wheatley free throws, a Johnson layup and a basket by Jordyn Bell with 3:58 left in the game to take the lead for good at Noting the UNLV Game San Diego State limited the Lady Rebels to 39.7 percent shooting but, nevertheless, dropped to 7-4 on the season when holding opponents below 40 percent for the game The Aztecs slipped to 8-6 on the year when leading at the half. The Scarlet and Black maintained a advantage at intermission. With her 10 points, McKynzie Fort remains 46 points shy of surpassing Paris Johnson for third place on SDSU's career scoring list. Fort has compiled 1,553 points in a Scarlet and Black uniform. Fort also became the first Aztec this season to play in all 40 minutes in a game. Geena Gomez and Khalia Lark remain the only two Aztecs to start all 20 games this season. Gomez set a career-high with five 3-point field goals. With her five boards, Lark has totaled at least five rebounds in seven straight games. Nothin' Like Home Cookin' After posting a 7-5 home record so far this year, San Diego State has claimed 65 of its last 97 games on Montezuma Mesa and has gone (.669) at Steve Fisher Court since the start of the campaign. The Aztecs have finished with a winning record at home in nine of the last 11 years. Good Omen? For the first time since the campaign and the 10th time in program history, SDSU won its first three games to open a season. After starting the year 3-0, San Diego State has advanced to a postseason tournament or the MW Championship game all but one season ( ). In seven of the nine seasons in which the Aztecs won their first three games of the year, San Diego State won 20 or more games. After defeating Hope International on Dec. 10, the Aztecs assured themselves of their first winning non-conference slate since the campaign. Taking Care of the Ball San Diego State has demonstrated its ball-handling capabilities this season, ranking fifth in the Mountain West in fewest turnovers (301), which is good for 70th nationally. Against Central Michigan at the Junkanoo Jam on Nov. 24, SDSU set a program record with just four turnovers, eclipsing the previous standard of six set twice previously against Wyoming on March 9, 2012, and Feb. 1, Over the past two seasons, the Scarlet and Black posted fewer than 10 turnovers seven times, compared to just three during the and campaigns combined. Block Party San Diego State matched its season high with six blocked shots in a victory at San José State on Jan. 10. With two rejections apiece against the Spartans, Te'a Adams set a career-high in that statistic, while Arantxa Gómez Ferrer tied her personal-best. The Aztecs' six blocks were the most since the squad recorded that same total earlier in the year vs. UC Irvine (Dec. 8). Before this season, the last time SDSU blocked six shots occurred in the opener at Long Beach State. Of Note San Diego State is 7-4 this season when holding the opposition to under 40 percent shooting from the field. In addition, the Aztecs are 7-2 on the year when out-rebounding their foes. In nine wins this season, SDSU is averaging 75.7 points per game and is shooting 44.3 percent from the floor, including a 39.9 percent pace on three-pointers. In 11 defeats, however, the Aztecs are averaging just 57.8 points per contest, connecting on 35.5 percent of their field-goal attempts, including a 28.6 clip on treys. Similarly, the Aztecs have fared better statistically in home games compared to road contests. In 11 home games, SDSU is averaging 68.7 points while draining 41.5 percent of its field-goal attempts and 35.4 percent of its tries from long-range. However, in eight games away from Montezuma Mesa, the Scarlet and Black is averaging 61.6 points while shooting 36.8 percent from the floor, including a 31.3 percent pace from outside the arc. Spreading the Wealth A total of seven Aztecs have scored in double digits at least once this season, while five have accomplished the feat on six or more occasions SAN DIEGO STATE WOMEN S BASKETBALL

5 In addition, SDSU has had 13 games this season in which at least three players scored in double figures (Presbyterian, CSUN, Central Michigan, USD, Arizona, UC Irvine, Hope International, UC Santa Barbara, Colorado State, San José State, Boise State, New Mexico and UNLV). Offensive Bonanza San Diego State produced its highest scoring output of the season so far when it registered a triumph over New Mexico at home on Jan. 20. In addition, the Aztecs' 97 points were the program's most since posting a victory at home over Sacramento State on Nov. 14, For just the third time this season, SDSU shot over 50 percent from the field (51.4), moving to 3-0 in those encounters. Against the Lobos, the Aztecs fell one short of a season high in field goals (37) and three-pointers made (12). SDSU drained 38 shots from the floor and connected on 13 triples in a triumph over Hope International on Dec. 10. With their career-high scoring totals, McKynzie Fort (32 pts) and Najé Murray (29 pts) gave the Scarlet two 20-point scorers in the same game for the first time since Kymberly Ellison (21 pts) and Lexy Thorderson (21 pts) accomplished the feat almost a year ago to the date on Jan. 17, 2017, vs. UNLV. In addition to her point-total, Fort matched her career-high with 12 field goals made. With her stellar 7-for-13 effort from three-point range, Murray came up one triple shy of a school record. Carmelia Bloodsow (1/19/91) and Falisha Wright (2/25/92) top the Aztecs' single-game charts with 8 three-pointers apiece. Super Subs With McKynzie Fort sidelined with an injury, freshmen Te'a Adams and Najé Murray picked up the scoring slack against Hope International on Dec. 10, combining for 30 points on 15-for-24 shooting (.625). Adams turned in a superlative effort with a career-high 20 points, connecting on 9 of 13 field-goal attempts while chipping in personal-bests of eight rebounds and seven assists. With her effort, Adams produced the highest scoring total by an Aztec freshman in a single game since current director of player personnel Paris Johnson poured in 23 points vs. Air Force on March 8, Likewise, Murray contributed 16 points of her own vs. the Royals, highlighted by a 4-for-7 effort from beyond the three-point arc. Fort Named Mountain West Player of the Week For the third time in her career McKynzie Fort was tabbed MW Player of the Week on Dec. 4, after leading SDSU to victories over over the University of San Diego and Arizona. In those two triumphs, Fort averaged 25.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists while shooting a combined 60.7 percent from the field (17-28) and 78.9 percent from the free-throw line (15-19). Against USD at home on Nov. 29, Fort led all players with 24 points on 10-for-16 shooting (62.5 percent), including the game-winning layup with eight seconds remaining to help the Aztecs snap a four-game losing streak against the Toreros in a dramatic triumph. She also dished out a career-high eight assists in that contest and grabbed a team-best six rebounds. Fort continued her stellar play at Arizona on Dec. 3, pouring in a game-high 26 points to go with six rebounds and two assists. Fort-ifying the Aztecs' Offense Preseason all-mw honoree McKynzie Fort is making waves in her senior season, climbing her way into the top five on the Aztecs' all-time scoring list. With an average of 17.2 points in 18 starts, Fort currently boasts 1,543 career points, which ranks fourth on the school's all-time charts. She needs just 46 points to surpass Paris Johnson for third place in program history. During the season, Fort became just the fourth Aztec to land a spot on an all-mountain West team each of her first three seasons at San Diego State after collecting an all-mountain West first-team nod last year. The only Aztec to start all 30 games, Fort finished the year in the league rankings: second in points per game (15.9), ninth in free-throw percentage (.784), 11th in field-goal percentage (.436), 12th in minutes played per game (31.9) and 13th in assists per game (2.5). The Fontana, Calif., native was 116-for-148 from the free-throw line, tied for the eighth-most made in SDSU single-season history. Fort reached the career 1,000-point mark at San José State ( ), the 21st Aztec and eighth SDSU third-year to accomplish the feat, after notching season highs in points (29) and rebounds (11) for her second-career double-double. Captain, Captain, Captain The Aztecs' captains for the season are seniors McKynzie Fort, Geena Gomez and Lexy Thorderson. Fort, a three-year starter for the Aztecs, is a three-time all-mw selection and was named to the preseason all-mw team this season after spending much of the campaign atop most offensive categories. Gomez, a two-year letterwinner, is one of four returning starters for San Diego State. The catalyst behind the Aztecs' offense on the court, she shot at a.360 clip (36-for-100) from 3-point range last season, the league's sixth-best percentage. Three-time MW All-Academic Team honoree and three-year letterwinner Thorderson helped SDSU engineer the program's best 3-point shooting season last year and will be relied upon heavily from beyond the arc for her final campaign. Welcome Back! In addition to having five newcomers, including the nation's 23rd-ranked and the Mountain West's best incoming class, the Aztecs welcome back an impressive amount of offensive output from a year prior. Four starters from last year's team will once again don the Scarlet and Black: seniors McKynzie Fort, Geena Gomez, Lexy Thorderson and Khalia Lark. Five letterwinners from the squad are also expected to contribute this season: Arantxa Gómez Ferrer, Cheyenne Greenhouse, Abby Lowe, Monique Terry and Baylee Vanderdoes. Nearly 79 percent of the team's scoring from last year returns, led by all-mw first-team pick McKynzie Fort, who single-handedly recorded almost one-fourth (24.9 percent) of SDSU's total points in Moral Support Stacie Terry's fourth season saw an increase in excitement surrounding the team, evidenced in home attendance. For the season, the Aztecs averaged 855 fans for the team s 14 home games, up from an average of 487 during the campaign (the previous high during the Terry era was for the season when SDSU averaged 604 fans per game). Against Michigan on Dec. 11, 2016, a total of 2,632 fans were in attendance for the greatest showing since Jan. 24, 2009 (vs. BYU), when 2,792 were in Viejas Arena to see San Diego State play then-conference foe Brigham Young. That total has already been eclipsed two times this season after 4,148 fans attended the UC Irvine game on Dec. 8, while a crowd of 4,568 was on hand for the UNLV clash on Jan. 27. With the aforementioned figures, SDSU has averged 1,335 fans in 11 home games in History Made from Beyond the Arc With their 200 made long balls on a program-high 620 attempts, the Aztecs were the program's best 3-point shooting team. Since the statistic started being recorded in the program's record book during the campaign, SDSU's most made threes came in the season with pointers. The Aztecs also sported the best 3-point percentage at.319 ( ) in seven years. The single-season record is.404 (65-for- 161) set during the season. Lexy Thorderson's 66 made 3-point field goals on 192 attempts were each fourth in SDSU history. She finished the year with the Mountain West's second-most made long balls, averaging 2.4 per game, and ranking 80th in the nation. In a single-game high, she drilled seven treys in a win against UNLV ( ), tied for the third-most in SDSU history SAN DIEGO STATE WOMEN S BASKETBALL

7 Thorderson had five games last season with five-or-more treys: a career-high seven against UNLV, six versus Boise State and five against Nevada, San José State and at UNLV. San Diego State had its most success beyond the arc last season against San José State. In their road game against the Spartans, SDSU knocked down 12 three-pointers, its third straight game with 10 or more threes, and, when hosting SJSU, drilled 13 long balls. In the Scarlet and Black's home game against San José State, the teams combined for 25 threes, the most in a MW game last season. It was just the third time the feat was accomplished during the campaign. Versus UNLV, the Aztecs knocked down 14 three-pointers for a season high and their most since Feb. 10, 2005, in a win over Utah Valley. In the game, Thorderson drilled a career-best seven treys. Against Boise State, SDSU knocked down 11 triples, five of which came in the fourth quarter, finishing its second straight game with five or more treys in a quarter after notching six in the first period vs. Nevada (10 overall). SDSU was the first team in the conference to score double-digit threes in three straight Mountain West games, the first time since at least the season that the Aztecs had consecutive games with 10-or-more 3-pointers. The New Aztecs on the Block For the second consecutive year, San Diego State women s basketball head coach Stacie Terry has announced the signing of a nationally ranked incoming class. Mallory Adams, Jayden Perez and Sophia Ramos comprise the nation s 57th-ranked class (according to Prospects Nation) and will join the Aztecs for the campaign.
