This week USU hosts a Boise State team that has won four straight games and next week will travel to fifth-ranked Alabama... USU is 2-0 at home this year and 0-3 on the road... USU is 8-2 in its last 10 conference home games... USU will be looking to avoid consecutive losses, something that has not happened in its last seven games. ON THE AIR -- All Utah State football games are carried on the Aggie Radio Network with Al "Boise-to-Men" Lewis calling the play-by-play and Craig "Return To Radio" Hislop providing analysis this week. Saturday's game will be televised in the state of Utah on KJZZ as well as in Boise on KTVB. GAMETRACKER -- This season Utah State fans can follow Aggie home games through the USU website at via GameTracker, a free service, which updates play by play and statistics throughout the game. RADIO SHOW ON CAMPUS -- The weekly Brent Guy radio show, which is sponsored by Fazoli's Restaurant, hosted by Al Lewis and broadcast on KVNU 610 AM in Logan each Thursday from 6-6:45 p.m., will be held at different locations on campus this season in an effort to get the students more involved in the program. Fazoli's will provide an entree for $2 at each location. On Thurs., Oct. 20, the show will be held at Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity house. The public is invited. RECOGNIZING THE Utah State's football team is wearing decals to recognize the 11 individuals from the College of Agriculture that were involved in a tragic van accident on Monday, Sept. 26. Eight students and one instructor were killed in the accident. The logo is a yellow block letter 'A' inside a blue circle and is worn on the back right of the helmet. LAST TIME OUT -- Fresno State used a balanced offensive attack and controlled the clock for 34:39 en route to a victory against Utah State last Saturday. USU has now lost eight straight road games dating back to last year. Utah State struck first after Terrance Washington recorded an interception on Fresno State s first play of the game. The Aggies took over at the Bulldogs 36-yard line and scored five plays later on a Chris Forbes one-yard touchdown run to take a 7-0 lead just three minutes into the game. However, the Bulldogs responded by scoring the game s next 46 points. The Aggies finally got on the board again early in the fourth quarter when quarterback Leon Jackson III scored on a one-yard sneak to bring the score to The Aggies committed three turnovers in the first half which led to 17 Bulldog points. One of the USU turnovers took place on its own one-yard line, which Fresno State turned into a touchdown on the game s next play. Aggie LB Jake Hutton recorded a game-high nine tackles, including one stop for a loss. John Chick recorded a sack as did Devon Hall, while Jarrett Bush recorded his second interception of the season. UP NEXT -- USU steps out of WAC play to travel to Alabama for the second game in a two-year series with the Crimson Tide. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. MDT.

Guy was an assistant coach (linebackers) at Utah State from under then head coach Charlie Weatherbie. During that time, USU posted its only bowl victory in school history, claiming the 1993 Las Vegas Bowl. Guy has been involved in eight bowl games in 19 years as a collegiate assistant coach. A complete list of captains is available later in this release. USU-BOISE STATE SERIES -- Boise State leads the all-time series by a 7-4 count, including a 3-2 advantage in games played in Logan. The Broncos have claimed each of the last four meetings since USU won back-to-back games in 1996 and Three of the last four games have been played at Boise, including the last meeting, a Boise State win in The last meeting in Logan was a BSU win in BSU has won the last two games by a combined 129 to 76 (won in 2000 and in 2002). USU-BSU LAST TIME -- There were scores on each of the first seven possessions as Utah State and Boise State combined for 101 points and 974 yards of offense in Boise State's win at Boise in Strangely enough, neither team scored in the third quarter. Then Aggie quarterback Jose Fuentes became the USU career total offense leader in the game when he hit current St. Louis Rams WR Kevin Curtis on a 37-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter. Fuentes threw for 297 yards as USU gained 420 yards of total offense. BSU ran up 554 yards, including 376 through the air. QB Leon Jackson III led against Utah and Idaho, WR Kevin Robinson led against UNLV and San Jose State and backup QB Jerod Walker led against Fresno State last week. On the year, Jackson is leading the team with 181 rushing yards, while tailbacks Ryan Bohm and Chris Forbes are second and third with 95 and 90 yards respectively. Walker and Robinson are fourth and fifth with 71 and 70 yards respectively. Dating back to 1956 no USU quarterback has ever led the team in rushing and Ron Edwards holds the USU quarterback rushing record with 273 yards in CHICK MAKING PLAYS -- Senior DE John Chick has been making the most of his senior season and in fact leads the WAC and ranks ninth in the NCAA in sacks with 1.10 per game (5.5 in five games). In the last three games, he has gotten to the quarterback five times. His eight tackles for loss also top the conference and rank 17th nationally. He ranks sixth on the team with 25 tackles overall. FRESHMAN MAKING MARK -- LB Jake Hutton, a walkon freshman from Pocatello, Idaho has been a key on the Aggie defense through five games and in fact leads the team with 42 tackles. His average of 8.4 per game ranks him sixth in the conference and 71st nationally. Nationally his average is third among the country's freshmen. Only one Aggie freshman has ever led the team in tackles for a season and that was Del Lyles, who had 123 stops in Hutton has 5.5 tackles for loss, which are second on the team and he leads the Aggies with two forced fumbles. He has started every game this year. NCAA Freshmen Tackle Leaders 1. Courtney Greene, Rutgers 9.50 (ranks 37th in NCAA overall) 2. Daniel Holtzclaw, E. Michigan 9.00 (ranks 48th in NCAA overall) 3. JAKE HUTTON, UTAH STATE 8.40 (ranks 71st in NCAA overall) DYNAMIC DUO -- The wide receiver combination of Tony Pennyman and Kevin Robinson has been a solid one for the Aggies midway through the season. The two have combined for 42 of USU's 78 receptions and 526 of the team's 832 yards through five games. Pennyman averages 6.50 receptions per game to rank 21st nationally, while Robinson has turned five of his 16 catches into touchdowns. The two also rank one-two in the WAC in all-purpose yardage as Robinson averaged and Pennyman averaged yards per contest. HOME AND AWAY -- In two home games this year sophomore QB Leon Jackson has completed 36 of 51 passes for 412 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions. In three road games, the first-year starter has hit 38 of 70 passes for 380 yards, one touchdown and five interceptions. HOME AND AWAY TWO -- Through five games USU is 2-0 at home and 0-3 on the road. The last time a USU team won all of its home games and lost all of its road games was 1932 when the Aggies were 4-0 at home and 0-4 away. This year, USU is alternating home and away sites throughout the season. DID YOU KNOW? -- Fresno State entered the Utah State game last week having allowed only two sacks in its previous four games combined, but the Aggies reached the Bulldog quarterback two times last Saturday.

Last Saturday against Fresno State, USU averaged starting at its own 24-yard line, its worst of the season, while the Bulldogs averaged starting on the Aggie 48-yard line. The result for FSU was six possessions starting on the USU side of the 50, which it turned into five touchdowns and one field goal. USU has scored four offensive touchdowns from outside the Red Zone in the last three games... WR Kevin Robinson has scored seven of USU's last 10 touchdowns...
