LAST TIME OUT -- Utah State rolled up 478 yards of total offense for its most yards since 2003, but four fumbles stopped the Aggies as Louisiana Tech posted a victory against USU last Saturday. Louisiana Tech netted just 276 yards of total offense, but took advantage of USU's fumbles as they needed drives of just 22, 44, 50, 43 and 21 yards for their five scores. The visiting Bulldogs kicked two first quarter field goals to lead 6-0. USU then scored the only other points of the first half on a career-long 35-yard field goal by Justin Hamblin as time expired. Louisiana Tech pushed its lead to 13-3 early in the third quarter before USU's Ryan Bohm scored his first of two rushing touchdowns to pull the Aggies with with 4:21 left in the third quarter. However, Tech scored on a three-yard run to start the fourth quarter and then found the endzone less than 1:30 later after capitalizing on a fumbled kickoff return by Utah State. However, the teams have not played since 1966 when the Aggies posted a 48-0 win at Hawai'i. The teams first met in 1927, a win by Hawai'i at home. Since then USU won in Logan in 1957, 48-6 at Hawai'i in 1959, in Logan in 1965 and 48-0 in Hawai'i in USU-UH LAST TIME -- As mentioned Utah State defeated Hawai'i 48-0 in the last meeting between the schools in The Aggies had two players rush for 100 yards as future NFL running backs MacArthur Lane, eight carries for 194 yards and Altie Taylor, 12 rushes for 111 yards, broke into triple digits. (By the way Taylor was not present at the ceremony and Anne Bancroft accepted the award on her behalf)... Notre Dame won the national championship in football... A girl was born in Muskogee, Okla. who would later make the mistake of marrying someone who would become the USU SID... The Green Bay Packers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in the first Super Bowl after the 1966 season... In probably the most meaningful NCAA Basketball Championship game in history, UTEP defeated Kentucky

On the year he has thrown just six interceptions in 222 attempts and has gone without throwing an interception in four games. Tech Alabama Totals Totals Avg./Pct. 64% Avg./Pct. 50% ROBINSON BREAKS OUT -- Against Louisiana Tech on Saturday WR Kevin Robinson broke out with the best game of his career. A freshman All-American last season, Robinson pulled in nine balls for 131 yards for career highs in both categories. The 131 yards were the most by an Aggie since current St. Louis Rams player Kevin Curtis had 177 yards against Middle Tennessee in The total was also the third best receiving total by an Aggie sophomore as well (Shawn Turner had 197 vs. Eastern Washington in 1994 and Tom Larscheid had 172 vs. Hawai'i in 1959). Robinson also extended his streak of catching at least two passes to 14 consecutive games. CHICK MAKING PLAYS -- Senior DE John Chick is continuing his fine senior season as he recorded a season-high seven tackles with four for loss, including two sacks and a forced fumble against Louisiana Tech last Saturday. On the season Chick has 8.5 sacks and 13 tackles for loss. He has also recorded two sacks in three different games this year. His sack average of 1.06 ranks sixth in the nation, while his 1.62 tackles for loss rank 12th in the country. For his career, Chick has recorded 19.5 sacks and 33 tackles for loss. THREE SEASONS IN ONE -- Utah State's schedule could be broken down into three segments. The first four opponents currently have a combined record and USU went 2-2 in that stretch. The three middle opponents (Fresno State, Boise State and Alabama) are a combined 23-2 and the Aggies were 0-3 in that stretch. The last four opponents on the schedule are a combined with Louisiana Tech 5-3, Hawai'i 3-6, Nevada 5-3 and New Mexico State at 0-9. USU is 0-1 in this last stretch having lost to Louisiana Tech last Saturday. SHORT FIELD FOR OPPONENTS -- Once again, the opponent has enjoyed a short field in games against Utah State. Louisiana Tech's five scoring drives were 22, 44, 50, 43 and 21 yards with the last three being touchdown drives. The Bulldogs averaged starting at their own 40 yard line. On the year, the opponent has 11 scoring drives of less than 30 yards and 22 scoring drives of less than 50 yards. The worst average starting position for an opponent this year was Alabama (its own 32-yard line). Meanwhile USU has averaged starting outside its own 28 yard line just once this year (38 yard line against UNLV). OFFENSIVE NOTE-ABLE -- USU produced 478 yards of total offense against Louisiana Tech Saturday for its most yards since the 2003 season... In each of the last three weeks USU has produced a season high in total offense (295 vs. Boise State, 309 vs. Alabama and 478 vs. Louisiana Tech)... The Aggies have run for 100 yards as a team in consecutive game for the first time since TB Ryan Bohm ran for a team-best 94 yards at Alabama two weeks ago, marking the only time this year a running back has led USU in rushing in a game this year... USU's 372 passing yards against Louisiana Tech were its most since USU's 103 rushing yards per game are 27 yards more than last year's average of USU has not scored more than once in a quarter in the last three games (scored 14 in the fourth quarter of the Fresno State game)... In the first four games USU produced just eight "explosives" (plays of 20 yards or more), but have 20 such plays in the last four games... USU's two touchdown drives against Louisiana Tech were 80 and 81 yards,

DEFENSIVE NOTE-ABLE -- USU limited Louisiana Tech to 276 yards of total offense, the fewest allowed by USU since Idaho gained just 234 yards in the second game of last season... USU entered last week's game allowing 406 yards per game, but limited Tech to 130 yards below that average... USU has forced just two turnovers in the last three games combined... Tech's five scoring drives against USU were just 22, 44, 50, 43, and 21 yards... The opponent has started 26 drives on USU's side of the field and scored 18 times, including 15 touchdowns... Twenty different players have tackles for loss, including eight with sacks... The opponents' 144 rushing yards per game are the fewest allowed by USU since 1998 (123). USU has scored on a punt return (Kevin Robinson vs. San Jose State) and a kickoff return this year (Tony Pennyman vs. UNLV) this year... After averaging 32.8 yards per punt in the first three games, Hamblin has averaged 39.2 yards in the last five games. USU NOTE-ABLE -- OT Donald Penn should make his 41st consecutive start against Hawai'i, a number which would match former DT Ronald Tupea's total for the most consecutive starts by an Aggie since Sixteen different players have made their first career starts this year... USU is 4-2 in known games played on Nov USU has held a lead in five of eight games this year, but not in either of the last two contests... The team that is leading at halftime has won every USU game this season... The opponents have converted 16 USU turnovers into seven touchdowns and two field goals... After playing the team located the furthest east in the WAC in Louisiana Tech, USU will play at the furthest team to the west in Hawai'i (this would have been a good note if the Aggies had played at Louisiana Tech, but now it is just kind of there taking up space). STARTER NOTES -- Here are some quick notes on USU's projected starters: Offense TB Ryan Bohm - True freshman started the season opener at Utah and has five starts this season...
