The Aggies return two starters in Cin, who can play any of the five positions and who started the last five games at right tackle and OG Pace Jorgensen. A number of other Aggies have starting experience as Derek Hoke started four games at right tackle before being injured, Ryan Pahua started two games at right tackle and Tonnemacher started two games at left guard. Brent DeLadurantey started the final four games of 2004, but saw limited time last season. Schlimgen is attempting to come back from an injury which kept him out all of 2005, but he started nine games at right tackle in WAC/NCAA Rankings Rushing 6th/92nd (117.0) Passing 9th/82nd (200.0) Total 9th/98th (317.0) Scoring 8th/99th (18.91) Offense Tight Ends Lettermen Returning Jimmy Bohm (2L) Will Fausel (2L) Rob Myers (1L) Others None USU returns 17 offensive lettermen, including seven starters. Among the starters are players at five of the six skill positions, including quarterback Leon Jackson III, wide receivers Tony Pennyman and Kevin Robinson, and running backs Ryan Bohm and Lynwood Johnson. USU returns just two starters on the offensive line, but there is some depth and experience at that position. Pennyman and Robinson combined for 106 receptions 1,402 yards and 13 touchdowns last season. Bohm, Jackson and Walker all rushed for more than 300 yards a year ago. USU will look to replace Donald Penn, a four-year starter at left tackle, as well as offensive line starters Nick George (center) and Ryan DeQuillettes (left guard). Lost *Jason Stephens (3L) 2006 Fall Additions Doug Barbour (Fr.) * Starter Last year s starter Jason Stephens decided not to return for his senior year as he enters his second year of graduate school. He caught eight passes for 111 yards and one touchdown in The Aggies have some experience returning in Jimmy Bohm and Will Fausel, who played quite a bit in each of the last two years. Last season Bohm had five receptions for 33 yards and Fausel pulled in four for 32 yards. Rob Myers mainly saw time on special teams.

Among the returnees are starters Tony Pennyman and Kevin Robinson, one of the best receiving tandems in the WAC. Pennyman was fifth in the WAC and 26th in the NCAA with 6.30 receptions per game, while Robinson was 10th in the WAC with 3.91 catches and eighth in receiving yards. Overall, Pennyman had 63 receptions for 741 yards and five touchdowns, while Robinson had 43 catches for 661 yards and eight scores. Chris Forbes was the 2004 starter, rushing for 396 that season and had 137 yards on 46 carries last year. Lynwood Johnson is the returner at fullback. He rushed 22 times for 54 yards and caught six balls for 56 yards. The veterans will be pushed by USU s newcomers. * Starter USU returns its top two quarterbacks as Leon Jackson III returns after starting the first nine games of the year before suffering an injury and missing the last two games. Jerod Walker, who played throughout the season in a backup role, took over the last two games and played solid. Jackson threw for 1,547 yards and eight touchdowns, while completing 57.6 percent of his attempts in nine games. Jackson did not throw an interception in four home games, while giving away six in five road games (three came in one game against Idaho). Walker, who saw action in nine games, completed 69.7 percent of his passing attempts for 653 yards and six touchdowns. In two games as a starter, he was 33 of 46 for 408 yards and four scores with two interceptions. Both quarterbacks rushed for an identical 328 yards to tie for the USU quarterback season rushing record. The Aggies ranked in the top half of the league in most of the main defensive statistical categories, ranking fourth against the rush and in total yards, but were sixth in scoring, allowing points per game. A number of experienced players return at all of the positions, but the Aggies list just two seniors on the defensive side of the ball in S Terrance Washington and DL Kerry Shepherd. Three of the team s top four tackle leaders return from last year in LB Jake Hutton (first with 87), S Antonio Taylor (third with 65), and Washington (fourth with 60). USU will continue to use a 4-3 alignment.

Chick was fifth in the NCAA with 12.5 sacks a year ago. Reid made 25 stops, while Soi was in on 31 tackles, including 4.5 sacks en route to earning third-team freshman All-America honors by The Sporting News. The rest of the front line players have seen limited time, but Frank Maile and Ben Childs have lettered twice, while Bevan Howard and Ben Calderwood earned their first letters a year ago. Terrence Washington is a three-year letterwinner at safety, while Antonio Taylor is a two-year letterwinner. Sophomores to be Marquise Charles, Caleb Taylor and Josh Taylor, all gained valuable experience a year ago. Charles and Caleb Taylor each started games last year. Hutton, who started as a freshman walkon a year ago and led the team with 87 tackles, will be counted on again in Outside Daryl Fields should join 2005 starter Devon Hall, giving USU three sophomore starters in this group. A lot of new faces will be counted on to provide depth here. Last year the Aggies boasted one of the nation s best return games behind Tony Pennyman and Kevin Robinson as USU ranked 13th in the country in kickoff returns and 48th in punt returns. Pennyman was fifth in kickoff return average (29.35), while Robinson was 35th in pun returns (10.00). Justin Hamblin handled both the punting and place kicking chores a year ago. He averaged 37.2 yards per punt and converted six of 14 field goal attempts and 19 of 20 PATs. Wheeler redshirted last year and will be a freshman this season.
