With its victory last season, 45-12, Texas is now 4-6 over the last 10 years of the series and over the last 20 years. As for records by decade, the Horns were against Oklahoma in the 1990s. That comes after the Sooners held a advantage in the 1980s. The Longhorns have won 24 straight Big 12 games against teams other than OU with the last other league team to beat UT being Texas Tech in Lubbock in 2002 (42-38). As a matter of fact, over the last seven years, the Tech loss is the Horns only other Big 12 regular season defeat. Since 2000, the Longhorns are 44-2 (.977) against Big 12 teams other than Oklahoma with the two losses having come by a combined total of six points. Four of those seven losses have come by five points or less and the defeats have been by an average of seven points. The 68 victories have come by an average of 28.5 points. LEAGUE LEADERS: Texas 43 regular season conference wins since 2000 are the most of any Big 12 team with OU right on its heals with 42. Colorado and Nebraska are tied with the third-best record during that time span at TRADITIONAL POWERS: Texas and Oklahoma are two of the four winningest programs in NCAA history. UT and OU have combined to produce a record of BIG 12 S WINNINGEST TEAMS Records during the Mack Brown era 1. TEXAS Oklahoma Kansas State Nebraska , (.714) over 226 years of football. The Longhorns rank third in alltime winning percentage ( /.715), while Oklahoma is close behind in fourth ( /.713). Texas currently ranks third in all-time wins and Oklahoma stands eighth. Texas has played in 45 bowl games and Oklahoma has made 39 bowl appearances. SOLD OUT: This year s game is sold out, marking the 61st consecutive sellout with the current stadium capacity 76,000. SOONER TIES: UT head coach Mack Brown is one of the few head coaches who has seen the Texas/Oklahoma rivalry from both schools sidelines. Brown was the offensive coordinator at Oklahoma in 1984 when No. 1 Texas and No. 2 Oklahoma played to a 15-all tie. Longtime UT staff THE LAST TIME - #2 TEXAS 45, OKLAHOMA 12 Dallas, Texas, Oct. 8, 2005: No. 2 Texas scored its most points ever and matched its largest margin of victory in the 100-game history of the Red River Rivarly with a win over Oklahoma. The 33-point win tied the Horns most lopsided series win set in 1941(40-7). It was the Longhorns 12th straight victory (second-longest active streak in the nation), matching UT s third-longest winning streak in school history and its best since Texas opened the season with five straight wins for just the second time since 1983 (2002 was the other) and kicked-off Big 12 play with back-to-back wins for the first time since The Horns offense continued to hit on all cylinders, registering its second straight balanced game of 200 yards both rushing (203) and passing (241) while posting 444 yards of offense and 6.6 yards per play on the game. Texas posted 14 plays of 10 or more yards and nine of at least 15 yards. Six different Longhorns produced a play of 15 or more yards and four of UT s wideouts had a reception of 20 or more yards. Texas had 299 yards on 37 plays (8.1 ypp) by halftime. The Longhorns production was in stark contrast to Oklahoma s as the UT defense was at its stingiest. Texas held Oklahoma to just 171 yards on 66 plays (2.6 ypp) and the Sooners rushing attack, which was averaging yards per game, to just 77. The 171 yards was the Horns top defensive effort against the Sooners since holding them to 158 total yards in OU managed just five plays of 10 or more yards, all of which came in the fourth quarter after UT had mounted a 38-6 lead. The Horns didn t allow the dramatic difference in field position affect them as the Sooners started five of 12 possessions in UT territory. Oklahoma s three scoring drives averaged 23 yards while UT s six scoring drives netted on average 63.5 yards. Led by Vince Young s 5-of-5 passing for 67 yards, UT s opening drive covered 82 yards in 12 plays capped by a Young to Ramonce Taylor 15-yard TD strike. Young threw for 241 yards and three TDs on 14-of-27 (51.9%) passing, including a 64-yarder and a 27-yarder to sophomore WR Billy Pittman, and rushed for 45 yards to tally 286 yards of offense. The 241 passing yards were the third-most by a Longhorn QB in the series history. Pittman caught four passes for 100 yards and two TDs. Jamaal Charles, who became the first UT freshman running back to rush for 100 yards against the Sooners, registered 116 yards on nine carries. His 80- yard first quarter TD run was the second-longest run ever by a UT freshman (equaling the 10th best by any UT player) and the longest by a Longhorn against OU ever. It also put the Horns up Selvin Young added 45 yards on the ground and a TD. TE David Thomas matched his career high with five catches, tallying 50 yards. The Texas defense harassed Oklahoma QB Rhett Bomar into just 12-of-33 passing (36.4%) for 94 yards, while picking him off once. They also held Oklahoma's rushing attack to just 77 yards on 33 attempts (2.3 yards per carry). The highlight of their performance produced the Horns final score when DE Brian Robison sacked Bomar, jarring the ball loose, and DT Rodrique Wright scooped it up and returned it 67 yards for the first TD of his career. Senior CB Cedric Griffin led Texas with 13 tackles and a pass break up, while senior LB Aaron Harris recorded nine tackles, including a sack. Junior S Michael Griffin added 10 more tackles, his third 10-tackle game of the season, to go along with the second interception of his career. Senior S Michael Huff notched seven tackles while batting down three passes. Linebacker Rashad Bobino added five tackles including a sack, while LB Robert Killebrew notched four tackles including two for loss to go along with a PBU.

Bobby Bowden, Florida State MACK BROWN, TEXAS/UNC 14 member Bill Little will be working his 38th consecutive Texas-Oklahoma game and his 428th consecutive game overall. University of Texas benefactor Frank Denius, for whom the Longhorns practice facility is named, will be attending his 60th Texas-OU game. CONFERENCE FOES: For the first time in 77 years, Texas and Oklahoma met as conference opponents in The Longhorns and Sooners first met as league foes when the Sooners were a member of the Southwest Conference from and now have conference bragging rights on the line for the 10th year as members of the Big 12. OU holds a 6-4 advantage in Big 12 games and a 9-5 lead in all-time conference games against the Longhorns. OFF TO THE FAIR: The Texas/Oklahoma game is once again a part of a state festival with the State Fair of Texas surrounding the event. That continues a tradition which began in That year, the game was played in an old wooden structure called Fair Park Stadium, which was located on what is now a parking lot at Fair Park. A new stadium, also named Fair Park Stadium, was built in 1930 and renamed in 1936 as the Cotton Bowl. The name change came about because, at the time, Dallas was the largest interior spot cotton market in the world. LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION: ABC Sports is broadcasting this year s game, which marks the 54th time the Texas/Oklahoma matchup will be televised. ABC will be carrying the game for the 15th time in the past 16 years. FOX Sports Southwest s telecast of the 1998 game snapped a string of seven consecutive contests carried by ABC. Thirty-five UT/OU games have been network telecasts. The first-ever television appearance came in 1948 when a Fort Worth station FIVE-PEAT Texas is the only NCAA Division I-A program with 10 or more wins the last five seasons Program TEXAS carried the game live. Excluding OU television probation years ( and 89), the game is being televised for the 31st year in a row. THE BATTLE LINE: One of the unique characteristics of the Texas/OU rivalry is the colors. With the tickets divided equally, burnt orange and crimson split the battle lines down the middle. OU claims the south horseshoe from the 50-yard line and UT the horseshoe north of midfield. The Longhorns, the visiting team, will wear their white jerseys and occupy the east bench area with that role reversing next season. The Oklahoma media relations office will handle the press box operations and stat crew. THE GOLDEN HAT: To the victor goes the Golden Hat, a rotating trophy representing the winner of the Texas/Oklahoma contest. It s a gold cowboy hat mounted on a large block of wood and it has been a part of the series since the State Fair of Texas donated it in The only change has been the actual color. When it first arrived, it was known as the Bronze Hat and actually was bronze. When that hat was reworked in the 1970s, it came out gold, hence it is now officially known as the Golden Hat. GOVERNOR S CUP: The Governor s Cup is exchanged by the Governors of Texas and Oklahoma following the Red River Rivalry. The tradition started when Texas Governor Dolph Briscoe donated the trophy and each year the trophy is transported from the office of the previous year s winning Governor to Dallas. It is displayed in the Hall of State on game day and then transported to the office of that year s winning Governor after it has received its engraving. UT/OU TORCHLIGHT PARADE: The annual Torchlight Parade is set for Wednesday night at 8 p.m. at the Main Mall on the UT campus. Head coach Mack Brown and the Longhorns squad will be on hand at the Littlefield Fountain at approximately 9 p.m. UT RECORD BOOK Longest Winning Streaks ; ; ; Longest Home Winning Streaks UT s 42-game home winning streak from is the sixthlongest in NCAA history. 16-IN-A-ROW: The Longhorns have won a UT-record 16 straight games against Big 12 opponents. 5 BIG 12 S WINNINGEST TEAMS All-time Intraconference Records 1. TEXAS Nebraska Oklahoma Kansas State Colorado Texas Tech Texas A&M Missouri Oklahoma State Iowa State Kansas Baylor 9-72 UT S BIG 12 SUCCESS AT HOME: Texas win over Iowa State to open Big 12 play marked the Horns 24th straight home victory over a Big 12 opponent. The last time UT lost a home game against a league foe was 1999 (35-17 to No. 13 Kansas State). As a matter of fact, that is the lone home loss to a Big 12 opponent that Texas has suffered in the Mack Brown era. The Horns are 28-1 (.966) at home versus league opponents since SEPTEMBERS TO REMEMBER: Texas has won 19 of its last 21 games in the season s first month (August/September) under Mack Brown. The only losses in that stretch were to No. 1 Ohio State earlier this season and when the Horns gave up three turnovers and were outrushed vs. Arkansas (38-28) in Overall, the Horns have won 26 of their last 30 outings in Aug./ Sept. STRING OF SUCCESS: With the 2005 No. 1 ranking, Texas has finished the year ranked among the nation s Top Six four of the last five seasons and among the Top 12 in each of the last six seasons, a Longhorn best. You have to go back to Darrell Royal s string of success in the late 1960s, when the Horns finished among the Top Five four times out of five years ( ), to equal that consistency in UT history. NINTH YEAR UNDER BROWN: With an (.813) record in nine seasons at UT, Mack Brown is off to the best coaching start in UT history and has posted the nation s top record during that stretch. Even more impressive, Brown has led the Horns to a 60-9 (.870) mark over the last six seasons, which is also the best nationally and includes four 11-win seasons ( and ). The 11-win seasons set the bar at Texas before the Horns record-setting, 13-win campaign last season. Texas is the only school in the nation that has posted at least 10 wins in each of the last five seasons (a UT record), and Brown is the lone coach to lead his team to nine-plus victories in 10 straight seasons. His eight straight nine-plus victory campaigns at UT are a school best. Under Brown, the Horns have posted Top Six finishes four times in the last five years ( and ). Prior to his arrival, the last time UT finished in the Top 10 was The Horns string of eight straight bowl games is the longest for UT since it went to nine in a row from Brown s personal strings, including time at North Carolina, go back even further. He has posted 16 consecutive winning seasons and has directed his teams to 14 straight bowl games. Both of those marks are the second-longest active streaks in the nation. UT S NO. 2 ALL-TIME: With Texas victory over Sam Houston State, Mack Brown has now won 87 games while head coach of the Longhorns. That puts him in second place on UT s alll-time list behind only Darrell Royal, who tallied 167 victories from The 87th victory moved Brown ahead of Fred Akers, who posted 86 wins from Other notables on the victory list are Dana X. Bible (63) and Clyde Littlefield (44). BRYANT COACH OF THE YEAR: Mack Brown was named the Paul "Bear" Bryant College Football Coach of the Year for 2005, as voted by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association. He became the first winner of the award from UT since Darrell Royal in He also was tabbed Big 12 Coach of the Year. CONFERENCE COMPETITION: Mack Brown, who guided the Horns to the 2005 Big 12 Championship and has won or shared the Big 12 South Division Championship four times, is (.846) in nine seasons of Big 12 play. That is the best league record over that span, ahead of Oklahoma (50-14), Kansas State (41-24) and Nebraska (41-24). UT has won 16 straight and 23 of its last 24 against Big 12 foes. That is a significant improvement from the 8-8 (.500) mark Texas produced in Big 12 competition the two years prior to his arrival, UT s first in the conference. The previous mark of 85,123 was set in the 2006 season opener against North Texas. Despite only playing five home games in 2005, Texas attendance totaled 416,663, an average of 83,333 per game, which was good for 11th nationally. The Horns set school records for total attendance (500,034) and attendance per game (83,339) thanks to six home games in OFFENSIVE EXPLOSION: In the previous eight seasons under Mack Brown and offensive coordinator Greg Davis, UT s offense has produced six of the top seven passing seasons, seven of the top nine total yardage campaigns and the top five scoring years in school history. Now, as Brown is in his ninth season, the Longhorns have registered 27 school records, twenty-nine 50-point games and four of the top six total offense games on school record. Since Brown took over in 1998, UT has produced twenty-eight 500- yard total offense performances (there are only 51 of them in the 113 years of Texas football) and has recorded eight of the school s eighteen 600-yard total offense games. The Horns balanced attack has produced at least 400 yards of offense in 47 of its last 69 games and has registered 200 yards both passing and rushing 34 times under Brown and Davis. Texas has scored at least 25 points in 24 of its last 25 games. 2006: Texas ranks fourth nationally in scoring offense (41.6 ppg), 14th in rushing offense (205.2 ypg) and 20th in total offense (417.4 ypg). UT opened the 2006 season against North Texas by racking up 410 total yards (212 rushing) and scored TDs on eight of their 11 possessions. They followed that by posting 326 yards against Ohio State, including 172 yards rushing.

The Horns went over 400 total yards for the third game of 2006 by racking up 439 against Iowa State. UT threw for over 200 yards for the first time behind Colt McCoy s 212 yards passing. Texas also posted 193 rushing yards against a Cyclone defense that had only been giving up 85 yards per game. The Horns then had their first 300-yard passing game when McCoy (178) and Jevan Snead (122) combined to throw for 300 yards on 20-of-24 passing (83.3%) against Sam Houston State. Since 1998: In 2005, UT led the nation in scoring offense (50.2 ppg), ranked second in rushing offense (274.9 ypg) and finished third in total offense (512.1 ypg). The Horns produced at least 600 yards of total offense three times last season, which was a first in UT history. Texas also came close to having three more 600-yard games with 591 against La.-Lafayette, 585 at Missouri and 556 in the Rose Bowl versus USC. UT's 600-yard games came in three consecutive contests against Oklahoma State (606), Baylor (645) and Kansas (617). Texas rushed for at least 300 yards six times in 2005, matching 2004 s total for the most by a Texas team since UT averaged a balanced rushing yards and passing yards in 2005, marking just the fifth time in school history the Horns averaged better than 200 yards both rushing and passing. In 2004, UT ranked second in the nation in rushing (299.2 ypg), seventh in total offense (464.4 ypg) and 12th in scoring (35.3 ppg). The Horns posted at least 600 yards of offense twice in They recorded 673 yards of offense (third-most in UT history) versus North Texas and 600 total yards against No. 19 Oklahoma State. In 2003, Texas averaged rushing yards (eighth NCAA) and passing yards, which was the fourth time in school history UT averaged better than 200 yards for each. Texas also averaged yards of offense (20th NCAA) while averaging 41.0 points per game (sixth NCAA) in That came one year after UT averaged passing yards and 33.8 points per game (16th NCAA) in In 2001, the Horns led the Big 12 in scoring (39.2 ppg/sixth NCAA) and pass efficiency (136.1 rating/27th NCAA). UT became one of only four teams in NCAA history to average 50 or more points and 500 or more yards per game for a season, and the first to do it since Texas 26 TD passes also tied the single-season record with 2000, 01 and 02. Texas scored at least 40 points in each of its last 11 games and 12-of-13 contests on the season. In 2005, only one other team in the nation (USC) scored 40 points in more than nine games. Texas scored at least 50 points in a game seven times in UT was the only school in the nation besides USC to accomplish that (versus NCAA Div. I-A). That is the most 50-point games the Horns have ever had in a season, surpassing the previous best of four set in As for 60-point games, Texas registered at least 60 points four times last season, which is also a UT first,

8 and increased the games of 60 (or more) points under Brown to 10. PRODUCTIVE PERFORMERS: Since Mack Brown and offensive coordinator Greg Davis took over UT s offense in 1998, Texas has produced its only 2,000- yard rusher (2,124, Ricky Williams, 1998), 1,000-yard receivers (1,087, Wane McGarity, 1999/1,188, Kwame Cavil, 1999/1,142, Roy Williams, 2002/1,079, Roy Williams, 2003), 3,000-yard passers (3,357, Major Applewhite, 1999/3,207, Chris Simms, 2002/3,036 Vince Young, 2005) and 1,000 yard rusher/passer (Vince Young, 2004 and 05) in a season in school history. UT has seen players record school single-season bests for rushing touchdowns (28, Ricky Williams, 1998), TD passes (26, Chris Simms, 2002/Vince Young, 2005), TD receptions (12, Roy Williams, 2002), total TDs (38, Vince Young, 2005), receptions (100, Kwame Cavil, 1999), scoring (168, Ricky Williams, 1998) and total offense (4,086, Vince Young, 2005). Cedric Benson became the fifth player in NCAA history to rush for over 1,000 yards in four straight seasons and finished his career ranked sixth on the NCAA all-time rushing list (5,540 yards). Vince Young became the first player in UT history to rush (1,079 yards) and pass (1,849 yards) for more than 1,000 yards in the same season in 2004 and then repeated the feat in 2005 with 1,050 yards rushing and 3,036 yards passing. He became the first player in NCAA history to rush for 1,000 yards or more and pass for 2,500 yards or more in the same season. He came within two rushing yards of becoming just the third freshman QB in NCAA history to post 1,000 yards rushing and passing in a season in The Longhorns freshman records for rushing yards (1,053, Cedric Benson, 2001), rushing TDs (12, Cedric Benson, 2001), total TDs (13, Cedric Benson, 2001), 100-yard rushing games (5, Cedric Benson, 2001), passing yards (2,453, Major Applewhite, 1998), receptions (41, B.J. Johnson, 2000), receiving yards (809, Roy Williams, 2000), TD catches (8, Roy Williams, 2000) and TD passes (18, Major Applewhite, 1998) have also been set in the Brown era. BROYLES AWARD WINNERS: Texas coaching staff features the past two Frank Broyles Award winners, an honor that goes to the nation s top assistant coach. Offensive coordinator Greg Davis, who was a finalist for the award in 1999, was named the winner after a record-setting season in UT's co-defensive coordinator Gene Chizik won the Broyles Award in 2004 while coaching at Auburn. Texas staff is the first in the award s history to have back-to-back winners active on the same coaching staff. GRAND STREAK: Texas has featured a 1,000-yard rusher in each of the last 11 seasons, which is the NCAA s longest active streak ( ) and is only one season behind the NCAA record of 12 set by North Carolina ( ). The streak was maintained when Vince Young posted 1,050 yards in Prior to that in 2004, both Cedric Benson (1,834) and Vince Young (1,079) rushed for 1,000 yards. Benson (1,360) and Young (998) just missed posting double 1,000-yard seasons in Shon Mitchell started the 11-year streak when he ran for 1,099 yards in That snapped a UT draught of seven straight years without a 1,000-yard rusher. Ricky Williams nearly eclipsed the 1,000- yard mark that year as well, rushing for 990 yards as a freshman. DEFENSIVE DOMINANCE: After inheriting a program that ranked among the NCAA s bottom half in total defense for the five seasons prior to his arrival, Mack Brown, along with Gene Chizik, Duane Akina and the Longhorns staff, have reversed that trend. Texas has ranked among the nation s top 25 in total defense for seven consecutive years. Texas only allowed opponents to reach 300 yards of total offense five times in 2005 and held the remaining eight opponents to 267 yards or less. Statistically, UT's best defensive performance came against Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry as the Sooners could only manage 171 total yards and one TD. The Longhorns weren t far off that pace by allowing only 191 yards and one field goal to Colorado in the Big 12 Championship game.
