In the other game, McCoy came out early in the third quarter of a blowout victory at Baylor with 194 yards. McCoy has averaged ypg in Texas four critical November conference games. TOPPING THE CHARTS: Over the last four weeks, Colt McCoy has recorded three of the top seven total offense games on UT record. He now holds five of the top eight total yardage contests in the history of Texas football and eight of the top 18. BACK-TO-BACK: Colt McCoy registered 425 yards of offense versus Kansas (11/21) and 479 at Texas A&M five days later (11/26), marking the first time in Texas history that a player posted back-to-back games of at least 425 yards of total offense. A TRADITION-RICH MATCHUP: Two of the winningest programs in NCAA history will face off on Saturday when Texas (second/844 wins) and Nebraska (fourth/826 wins) meet in Dallas. UT also has the third-best winning percentage in NCAA history ( /.7207), while the Huskers rank seventh ( /.7015). CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY: Texas will be playing in the Big 12 Championship game for the fifth time. The unranked Longhorns knocked off No. 3 Nebraska (37-27) in the inaugural Big 12 title game in 1996 (St. Louis). No. 12 Texas fell to No. 3 Nebraska (22-6) in the 1999 Big 12 Championship game in San Antonio, No. 3 Texas came up short against No. 9 Colorado (39-37) in 2001 (Irving) and No. 2 Texas defeated Colorado (70-3), which is the largest margin of victory in any Big 12 Championship game, in 2005 (Houston). BIG 12 SOUTH CHAMPIONS: With a victory over Texas A&M, Texas clinched the Big 12 South Division Championship and a spot in its fifth league title game. The Longhorns have now won (1996, 99, 2001, 05, 09) or at least shared (2002, 08) the Big 12 South Division Championship seven times. 10 AGAIN: With 12 wins this season, Texas extended its national-leading streak of 10-win seasons to nine. The nine straight years with at least 10 wins is the second-longest streak in NCAA history, trailing only Florida State s 14-year streak from In addition, Texas has posted 12-win seasons in back-to-back years for the first time in school history. Prior to Brown s arrival, the Horns had never before posted consecutive 11-win campaigns let alone consecutive 12-win seasons. As a matter of MACK BROWN (Florida State 74): Texas 12th-year head coach is (.830) (80-16 Big 12) at UT, including the 2005 National Championship, and has a (.680) mark over his 25-year career. Brown is the Big 12 s winningest active coach (Division I-A games only) and his strings of 20 consecutive winning seasons and 17 straight bowl appearances are the second-longest nationally. #21/20 NEBRASKA Record: 9-3 (6-2 Big 12) Home: 5-2 Away: 4-1 Neutral: 0-0 Sept. 5 FLORIDA ATL. 3 fact, Brown has led the Horns to six seasons with 11 or more wins. That compares to the four 11-win seasons (1963, 69, 77 an 83) in Texas history before Brown s arrival in RIVALRY DOUBLE: Texas has defeated its top two rivals Oklahoma and Texas A&M in back-to-back years for the first time since it did it three times in a row from Since UT first played both teams in the same year in 1900, the Horns have managed to beat them both in the same season 37 times. But, in the 39 years since 1970, the Horns have managed to beat both rivals in the same season just eight times, with four of those coming during the Mack Brown era. Texas has beaten Oklahoma and Texas A&M in the same year in 1900, 01, 04, 06, 16, 23, 30, 32, 34, 36, 40-47, 58-65, 68-70, 77, 81, 83, 90, 98, 05, 08 and SENIOR CLASS: A group of 21 seniors took the field for their final home game as Longhorns against Kansas on Nov. 21. The class has collectively helped the Longhorns post a 44-7 (.863) overall record over the last four years and a 26-6 (.813) mark in regular season Big 12 Conference games. The class 44 wins tied the 2006 and 07 senior classes for the second-most wins in UT hsitory behind the four-year UT victory record of 45 (since freshmen became eligible in 1972) set by the 2005 (45-6) and 08 (45-7) senior classes. The 21 seniors also are 23-3 (.885) at home and 18-3 (.857) against in-state foes during their four seasons. Out of the 21 seniors, five have already earned their undergraduate degrees and nine will have earned their degrees before Texas bowl game. In addition, 20 of the 21 seniors are on pace to earn their degrees by the summer of The seniors have helped Texas post at least 10 wins in nine consecutive seasons, becoming just the second team in college football history to post a streak of at least nine consecutive 10-win seasons, and have a chance to lead the Horns to a ninth straight Top 15 finish for the first time in school history. UT s 2009 senior class is bowl-eligible for the fourth straight year, having won their previous three bowl games, and its lowest final national ranking was No. 13 in They have finished in the Top 10 twice, including the first regular-season No. 1 ranking since SPECIAL CLASS: The 2005 signing class was the smallest of the Mack Brown era, but the success its members have seen is special. Texas signed 14 players, two of which transferred within the first year and another whose career was ended by injury. Of the remaining 11 members of that class, five are currently playing with four of them starting. Out of the other six, five are currently in the NFL. Overall, 10 of the 11 players started at least 15 games during their time at Texas. TEXAS RIDING A NATIONAL- LEADING STREAK OF NINE CON- SECUTIVE 10-WIN SEASONS: Texas has posted at least 10 wins in each of the last nine seasons, becoming just the second team in college football history to win at least 10 games in nine straight seasons. The Horns streak trails only Florida State s streak of 14 consecutive seasons. The current streak also is the longest active mark in the nation. Overall, Texas 127 victories over the last 12 years are the most in the nation. The Horns also have won more Big 12 games (80) than any other team in the conference during that time. In addition, the Horns set a school record last season by winning a bowl game for the fifth straight year after defeating No. 10 Ohio State in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl. Texas is one of only two schools nationally that has won five consecutive bowl games. The Fiesta Bowl win marked UT s seventh bowl victory in the last eight years, including three BCS triumphs and a BCS Championship Game victory. Mack Brown s eight bowl victories at UT are tied with Darrell Royal. In fact, UT s eight bowl victories over the last 11 seasons under Brown equals the amount Texas won in the 30 years prior to Brown s arrival. POST-OU SUCCESS: Regardless of the outcome of the Red River Rivalry, Texas has had great success in the second half of the season during Mack Brown s 12-year tenure. The Horns are 63-7 (.900) in regu- THE LAST TIME - NO. 19 TEXAS 28, NEBRASKA 25 Austin, Texas, October 27, Jamaal Charles rushed for 216 yards and three TDs in the fourth quarter alone to lead Texas to a comefrom-behind victory over Nebraska. The 216 yards in a quarter were a UT record and just six yards shy of the NCAA mark for rushing yards in a quarter. The victory was Mack Brown s 100th at Texas, adding him to a Longhorn list that includes only Darrell Royal. It was the Horns fourth straight win over Nebraska and seventh victory in eight tries against the Huskers since Big 12 play began in Behind Charles career-high 290-yard (on a career-most 33 attempts) rushing day (No. 4 on the UT all-time single-game list), the Horns rushed for a season-high 364 yards on 48 carries (7.6 ypc) and recorded 545 yards on 77 plays (7.1 ypp). The 290 rushing yards were the most by any player ever against the Huskers, surpassing the 247 yards by Oklahoma s Billy Simms in Colt McCoy turned in 236 yards of total offense (181 passing/55 rushing) while Quan Cosby caught five passes for a career-high 113 yards. After allowing three scores (a field goal and two TDs) on the Huskers first six possessions that allowed Nebraska to claim a 14-point third-quarter lead, Texas defense came on strong. The Horns forced five punts and recovered a fumble on the next six possessions as the Horns mounted their comeback. The defensive play of the game came midway through the fourth quarter with UT clinging to a lead and Nebraska at the Longhorn 29-yard line. Frank Okam charged through the line, sacked Nebraska QB Sam Keller and forced and recovered a fumble. He returned the fumble to the UT 43-yard line, setting up the TD drive that put Texas up Okam finished the game with six tackles, two TFL and a pressure to go along with his sack, forced fumble and fumble recovery. Sergio Kindle led the Horns with nine tackles. After trailing, 17-3, when Nebraska scored on a Keller to Nate Swift TD pass at the 12:32 mark of the third quarter, Texas scored 25 unanswered points to claim a lead with 3:34 left. It started with consecutive long distance field goals from Ryan Bailey, from 47 and 49 yards, and ended with Charles scoring three TDs down the stretch. With Texas trailing 17-9 with 13:13 left in the game, Charles ignited the Horns final surge by capping a four-play, 74-yard drive with a 25-yard TD run that brought the score to He followed up that effort with a spectacular career-long 86-yard TD run, tied for the fifth-longest run in UT history, two possessions later to give the Horns their first lead since early in the second quarter. Charles completed his scoring onslaught with a 40-yard TD run that put UT up with 3:34 remaining. All told, his three TDs came during a 9:39 fourth quarter stretch that saw Charles run for 196 yards and on nine carries (21.1 ypc).

NO. 2 ALL-TIME: In 2008, Texas moved ahead of Notre Dame for second place on the NCAA all-time victory list. At 844 victories, Texas trails only Michigan in alltime wins. With the Longhorns in second place on that list, it marks the first time since 1932 that Michigan and Notre Dame do not occupy the one-two spots in all-time wins. Since Mack Brown arrived in 1998, Texas has posted a (.830) record and moved ahead of Alabama, Notre Dame and Nebraska on the all-time victory chart. TWELFTH YEAR UNDER MACK BROWN: With Mack Brown in his 12th season at Texas, he is just the fourth coach in the 117 years of Texas football to coach the Longhorns for at least a decade and just the second UT coach to win 100 games while at Texas. Darrell Royal, who won 167 games, has the longest tenure at 20 years, while D.X. Bible and Fred Akers each coached in Austin for 10 seasons. Brown is the first coach in UT history to post 200 victories during a career. With a (.830) record at UT, Brown is the architect of the nation s best record during that stretch. In addition, Brown has led the Horns to a (.870) mark over the last nine seasons, which is the nation s second-best record over that timespan, and includes six 11-win seasons (2001, 02, 04, 05, 08 and 09). The 11-win seasons are third-best to UT s 13-win campaign in 2005 and its 12-win seasons in 08 and 09. Texas is the only school in the nation that has posted at least 10 wins in each of the last nine seasons (a UT record). Brown is the lone coach nationally to lead his team to nine or more victories in 14 straight seasons. His 12 straight seasons at UT of nine or more victories are a school best. Under Brown, the Horns have posted Top 10 finishes six times in the last eight years (2001, 02, 04, 05, 07 and 08). Prior to his arrival, the last time UT finished in the Top 10 was In addition, Texas played in a bowl game for a school-record 11th-consecutive season, bettering the previous streak of nine straight from Brown s personal strings, including time at North Carolina, go back even further. He has posted 19 consecutive winning seasons and taken his teams to 17 consecutive bowl games. Both of those marks are the second-longest active streaks in the nation. 200 CAREER VICTORIES: With a victory against Texas A&M in 2008, Mack Brown became the first head coach in UT history to reach the 200-victory plateau during a career and he currently has a career record of (.680). Brown s 213 career wins rank 13th on the NCAA alltime victories list. Brown became just the 19th coach, who has spent at least 10 years at a NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) school, to win 200 games and the seventh-youngest coach to do so. He also is one of only four active coaches, who has spent at least 10 years at an FBS school, to reach the 200-victory mark. In addition, Brown is one of only 10 active coaches at FBS schools who have won 100 games at their current school (127-26/.830). Following the 2008 season, Texas installed FieldTurf as its playing surface and permanent bleachers were added to the south end of the stadium. Combined with the previous year s north end zone project, DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium now has a stadium capacity of 100,119, which is the fifth-largest college stadium in the country and the largest college stadium in the southwest. The north end zone expansion project that was completed prior to the 2008 season featured an upper deck, club seating, an academic center and a war memorial plaza. The expansion added approximately 2,108 club seats and 47 suites. The lower deck of the north end zone was completed for the 2007 season. Another major upgrade was made prior to 2007, when a new video board was installed at the south end of the stadium. At the time, the scoreboard was the nation s largest high-definition video display board thanks to DAKtronics. The $8-million Prostar Video Board is 55 feet high by 134 feet wide. In addition, the interior of the Moncrief-Neuhaus Athletics Complex, most notably the players lounge, is consistently being upgraded. Prior to this season, a new academic center was constructed. It is approximately three times the size of the old one at Moncrief-Neuhaus. It features writing, math and computer labs, numerous tutoring areas, a multimedia classroom and academic staff office space.
