In fact, the two teams don t have a single common opponent. Delaware Valley didn t play a single school outside of its conference until last week s Curry game. THAT S ODD: Hobart is making its fourth NCAA Tournament appearance, but first in an odd numbered year: 2000, 02, 04, 05. The Statesmen are 3-3 in the playoffs. THIRD TIME S A CHARM?: The Statesmen have advanced to the second round of the NCAA Playoffs for the third time. Hobart lost to Widener in 2000 and Rowan in SUCCESSFUL SENIORS: Hobart s 11 seniors are the first group of Statesmen football players to make four consecutive postseason appearances. In addition to their three NCAA Playoff appearances, JAMIE ANDERSON, BRIAN BACH, TONY CLEMENTE, RICK EICHELDINGER, COLBY FEANE, JIMMY GRADIS, BRADY MAHAR, RYAN SMITH, ANDREW SWEET, DYSHAWN WASHINGTON, and ZACH YOUNG led Hobart to victory in the 2003 ECAC North Atlantic Bowl. SUCCESSFUL SENIORS II: Hobart s 11 seniors will leave campus with more wins than any other graduating class in the football program s 112-season history. The Class of 2006 has led Hobart to a record of 32-9 (.780). Their winning percentage is the highest since the Class of 1959 left Geneva with an.828 winning percentage (23-4-2). PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Hobart senior linebacker TONY CLEMENTE was named the 2005 Liberty League Defensive Player of the Year. He leads a balanced Hobart defense that was first in the Liberty League in scoring defense, rushing defense, and total defense and ranked second in pass defense efficiency, opponent first downs, opponent third down conversion, and sacks. Now a three-time Liberty League first-team selection, Clemente was also the Liberty League Defensive Player of the Year in FIRST THINGS FIRST: The Statesmen placed five players on the All-Liberty League first-team. LB TONY CLEMENTE is a three-time first-team pick, while QB SHAWN MIZRO is making his second straight appearance with the first string. RB DOUG BLAKOWSKI, OL MIKE DEPERSIS, and DT RICK EICHELDINGER are first-time honorees. ALL-LIBERTY LEAGUE 2: Four more Statesmen were voted second-team All- Liberty League. LB JIMMY GRADIS is a four-time all-conference pick, while CB JAMIE ANDERSON is making his third appearance. OL NINO GIAMBRONE and FS RYAN SMITH are first-time selections. Anderson also received honorable mention as a return specialist. Despite a season-high four turnovers, the Statesmen scored midway through the fourth quarter to take a one-point lead and the defense made the slim margin stand up. Although bottled up on the ground (a season-low 12 yards rushing), Hobart gained 302 yards through the air with four different players completing passes. Senior wide receiver COLBY FEANE led the team with four catches for 72 yards. On the other side of the ball, linebacker NOLAN ROBINSON led all tacklers with nine stops. FOURTH RATED PASSER: While no one questions that quarterback SHAWN MIZRO is Hobart s top signal caller, against Cortland he was the team s fourth rated passer. Wide receiver JAMES WRIGHT (1-1-0, 52 yds, 536.8), wide receiver NICK DYSON (1-1-0, 46 yds, 486.4), and punter DOM ANCONA (2-2-0, 37 yds, 255.4) all rated higher than the junior on Saturday. ANOTHER WINNING SEASON: At 9-1, the Statesmen have secured their ninth consecutive winning season, the longest streak of sustained success in Hobart history. The previous benchmark of eight straight was established by VINCENT WELCH s teams between 1921 and ONE PER CUSTOMER: No Statesman has caught more than one touchdown pass in a game this season. Even when SHAWN MIZRO tied his own record for TD passes in a game with five against Rensselaer, the junior did not hit the same target twice in the end zone. DOUBLE DUTY: As soon as the football season ends, five Statesmen will turn their attention to another sport. Senior COLBY FEANE, junior DAN MATUZAK, and first-year ZACH SCHULZ will suit up for the Hobart basketball team, while sophomore DAN SPINELLA and first-year JUSTIN HAGER will play for the Statesmen s Division I lacrosse team in the spring. BICENTENNIAL MEN: Senior linebackers JIMMY GRADIS and TONY CLEMENTE both have more than 200 career tackles. Gradis boasts a team-best 232, while Clemente is close behind at 217. Hobart hasn t had two players in the same class graduate with 200 tackles each since ROB GOULD 01 and RICH BARLETTE 01 left campus with 472 combined stops. UNDER PRESSURE: Hobart has more sacks through 10 games (28) than the 2004 Statesmen logged in 11 games (19). Seniors RICK EICHELDINGER and ZACH YOUNG lead the charge with 5.0 each, followed by junior ANDY PURDIE with 4.5. RUSH, RUSH, RUSH: Junior DOUG BLAKOWSKI is in the midst of one of the most productive seasons by a Hobart running back. He is 18th in the nation in rushing (125.1), 22nd in scoring (10.4), and 26th in all purpose yards (152.1). LOOKING AHEAD: Through 10 games, DOUG BLAKOWSKI has rushed for more yards in a season (1,251) than all but two Statesmen. He trails single season record holder DON ALEKSIEWICZ 73 (1,616 yds in 1971), KEITH BRANDON 01 (1,369 in 1998), and Aleksiewicz (1,265 in 1970). BROKEN RECORD: Speaking of DOUG BLAKOWSKI, he enters this afternoon s game second on Hobart s single season list with 17 rushing touchdowns. DON ALEKSIEWICZ 73 holds the record with 19 rushing TDs in THE LONG RUN: One more note on DOUG BLAKOWSKI, he has 12 carries this season that have gone for 20 yards or more. His longest run of the year was an 80-yard touchdown against Kings Point.

St. Lawrence scored on a 20-yard fake field goal run, Union had a 33-yard carry, Rochester had a 22-yard carry, and Cortland had a 35-yard run. SPREADING THE WEALTH: Fourteen Hobart players have recorded 20 tackles or more this season. Senior linebacker JIMMY GRADIS leads the team with 59. SPREADING THE WEALTH II: Fourteen Hobart players also have at least one catch this season, including quarterback Shawn Mizro who caught a pass from himself (it was batted up in the air by the D-line). Sophomore wideout JAMES WRIGHT leads the team with 32 receptions (526 yds, 3 TDs). TOP PICK: Senior free safety Ryan Smith leads Hobart and is tied for second in the Liberty League with four interceptions this season. He has nine career interceptions, averaging 11.4 yards per return. MANY HAPPY RETURNS: Senior cornerback JAMIE ANDERSON leads the Liberty League and is 34th in the nation in punt return average. MODEL OF EFFICIENCY: Junior quarterback SHAWN MIZRO is second in the Liberty League and 44th in the nation in passing efficiency (136.9). His current career rating of is 13.8 points better than any previous Statesman. MIZ-RY LOVES RECORDS: Junior quarterback SHAWN MIZRO etched his name all over the Hobart records book last season, and added to that bounty against Rensselaer. His five touchdown passes against the Engineers matched his own single game record set last season during an overtime win against Union. MIZ-RY LOVES RECORDS II: Junior quarterback SHAWN MIZRO added two more benchmarks to his resume at Coast Guard, breaking the Hobart single game records for completion percentage (89.5, 17-19) and passing efficiency (246.8). MIZ-RY LOVES RECORDS III: Junior quarterback SHAWN MIZRO penned his name in the records book once again at the expense of Union. After burning the Dutchmen for a Hobart record five touchdown passes in 2004, Mizro completed a record 31 passes this season, while his 428 passing yards are the second most in Hobart history. CLIMBING THE CHARTS: Speaking of MIZRO, the native of nearby Newark is quickly climbing Hobart s career passing charts. He s second in career passing touchdowns with 46 (one shy of CRAIG SWANSON 04), third in career passing yards with 4,200 (301 behind No. 2 GREG HELMER 97), and third in career completions with 303 (89 back of No. 2 HELMER).

HERE S TO YOU MR. ROBINSON: Junior linebacker NOLAN ROBINSON returned his first career interception 67 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter against Rochester. It s the first time a Hobart player has returned an interception for a touchdown since ROB GOULD 01 ran one back 28 yards in the first quarter of the Statesmen s win over Franklin & Marshall on Oct. 14, HERE S TO YOU MR. ANDERSON: Senior cornerback JAMIE ANDERSON returned a fumble 16 yards for a touchdown, also at the expense of the Yellowjackets. It s the first fumble return for a touchdown by a Statesman since senior linebacker ANDREW SWEET pounced on a loose ball in the end zone at Rensselaer on Sept. 25, SCOUTING THE AGGIES: Delaware Valley brings an 11-0 record into today s game. The Aggies boast the sixth rated offense in the nation (504.9 yds/g). Senior quarterback Adam Knoblauch, a Gagliardi Trophy finalist is 11th in total offense (312.5 yds/g) and 28th in pass efficiency (146.9). He has thrown for 2,781 yards and 25 touchdowns against 14 interceptions. Don Marshall is his favorite target. The junior wide receiver is 50th in the nation in receiving yards per game (86.6) with 55 catches for 953 yards and 25 touchdowns. On the ground, senior running back Steve Cook leads the team with 1,101 yards and eight touchdowns. Defensively, the Aggies are 59th in the nation in total defense, allowing yards per game. Sophomore linebacker John Pursell leads the team with 94 tackles, including 11.5 for a loss.
