The Runnin Rebels are the No. 7 seed, while the Falcons are the No. 10 seed. UNLV (17-14, 8-10 MW) has won four of its last seven games overall and are 12-3 at home in the Thomas & Mack Center this season. The Runnin Rebels are coming off a loss at MW champion San Diego State on Saturday, where they played just five scholarship players. It was their only game of the week as they had a mid-week bye. UNLV has been without a myriad of key players late this season. Senior guard Jerome Seagears and freshman forward Derrick Jones Jr. were both added to that list Saturday. Seagears was held out of action with a heel injury and Jones Jr. is ineligible after UNLV was notified of his canceled ACT score last week. Junior forward Ben Carter is out for the season with a torn ACL, freshman forward Stephen Zimmerman Jr. missed five straight games with a knee injury before returning Feb. 27 vs. Wyoming, and sophomore forward Dwayne Morgan hurt his shoulder and has missed the last four games. Air Force (14-17, 5-13) has lost three straight games after winning four of six. The Falcons closed out the regular season on Saturday with an loss at Colorado State. Wednesday s game will be shown on the Mountain West Network with Rich Cellini and Marty Fletcher calling the action. His resignation was announced Jan. 10 and he has been replaced on an interim basis by Todd Simon, who has been on UNLV s coaching staff for three years. Simon is 8-7 as the team s interim head coach. Rice led the Runnin Rebels to 98 victories in his four-plus years. He left the program as the third-winningest head coach in its history. Sophomore guard Patrick McCaw leads the Runnin Rebels in scoring this season (13.9 ppg), while freshman forward Derrick Jones Jr. (11.5 ppg), freshman forward Stephen Zimmerman Jr. (10.7 ppg), and senior guard Ike Nwamu (10.5 ppg) are also in double figures. Senior guard Jerome Seagears (9.9 ppg) is just below double figures this season. Junior forward Ben Carter (8.6 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 55.6 FG%) suffered a knee injury against San Diego State on Jan. 30 midway through the first half and did not return. An MRI later revealed a torn ACL and he will miss the remainder of the season. Zimmerman Jr. battled illness during the Maui Invitational and then injured his ankle during the Prairie View A&M game on Nov. 28. He again missed time because of injury (thigh) at Arizona (Dec. 19) and sat out UNLV s game vs. South Dakota (Dec. 22). He played on Dec. 30 vs. Fresno State, but didn t start. He was in the starting lineup for 10 straight games before getting injured on Feb. 6 at Fresno State. He sprained his left knee and was out of action until Feb. 27 vs. Wyoming. On Feb. 20 during UNLV s shootaround the day of the UNR game, sophomore forward Dwayne Morgan injured his shoulder and missed the game that night. He has a sprain and is out indefinitely. He has missed each of the last four games. In addition, Seagears has recently battled injuries but played through them until Saturday at San Diego State. He sat out with a bruised heel. The Runnin Rebels are also now without Derrick Jones Jr. He was declared ineligible for further competition after UNLV was notified that his ACT score was canceled on Feb. 29. He missed Saturday s game at San Diego State. UNLV played just five scholarship athletes at SDSU (had six dressed, but Seagears was held out). Zimmerman Jr. leads the team in rebounding (9.1 rpg, 2nd in MW) and blocks (2.1, 2nd in MW), while McCaw (4.0 apg, 3rd in MW) and Seagears (3.7 apg, 8th in MW) lead the team in assists. McCaw (2.0) and Seagears (2.0) are both tied for third in the MW in assist-turnover ratio. McCaw leads the team and MW in steals with 2.5 spg, which ranks fifth in the country. UNLV was picked to finish fourth in this year s Mountain West race by the media. Zimmerman Jr. was named the league s Preseason Freshman of the Year. UNLV returned seven scholarship players from last year s roster with six newcomers making up another highly regarded recruiting class. After a top-five recruiting class in 2014, Rivals.com has this year s Runnin Rebel class ranked No. 11 in the country. This year s class is led by Zimmerman Jr. (7-footer), a Las Vegas product and McDonald s High School All-American. The 2012 UNLV class was ranked No. 7 in the country by ESPN and included Anthony Bennett, who went on to become the top overall selection in the 2013 NBA Draft. McCaw is the Runnin Rebels leading returning scorer. He averaged 9.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.5 steals per game last year. UNLV lost freshman guard Rashad Vaughn and sophomore forward Christian Wood from last year s team to the NBA. Vaughn was selected with the No. 17 overall pick by the Milwaukee Bucks, while Wood went undrafted and signed a free-agent contract with the Philadelphia 76ers. UNLV has now had two first-round NBA Draft picks in the last three years (Anthony Bennett was the No. 1 overall pick in 2013). The Runnin Rebels finished the season with an overall record of 18-15, finishing seventh in the Mountain West at ThE air force falcons (14-17, 5-13 mountain west) Air Force has three straight games after winning four of six. The Falcons are coming off an loss at Colorado State on Saturday in the regular-season finale. Air Force is fifth in the Mountain West in scoring defense (71.7 ppg) and turnover margin (+0.3). AFA is 2-12 in road games this season. This year s team returned 12 letterwinners, including two starters. In the loss at Colorado State on Saturday, the Rams used a 23-2 run to take a lead with 10 minutes to go. Air Force led at halftime. Jacob Van led the Falcons with 18 points. Air Force is led in scoring this season by Hayden Graham (13.7 ppg). Graham also leads the team in rebounding (6.2 rpg). He is fourth in the MW in field-goal percentage (.489) and third in minutes played (35.3 per game) The Falcons roster is made up of one senior, five juniors, seven sophomores and nine freshmen. Head Coach Dave Pilipovich is in his fourth season as a collegiate head coach with a (.455) career record, all at Air Force. Air Force was overall last season and finished ninth in the MW at series history This will mark the 46th meeting between UNLV and Air Force in men s basketball (UNLV leads the all-time series 33-12). The two teams split the season series this year with each winning on their home floor. UNLV won

Teammate Stephen Zimmerman Jr., a freshman forward, received honorable mention. McCaw averages 13.9 points, and his 4.0-assist average is third in the conference. He also is first in the Mountain West with 2.5 steals per game and is tied with fellow Rebel Jerome Seagears for second with an assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.0. Zimmerman averages 10.7 points, 9.1 rebounds and 2.1 blocked shots. The top honors went to Wyoming s Josh Adams as Player of the Year, San Diego State s Steve Fisher as Coach of the Year, New Mexico s Elijah Brown as Newcomer of the Year, UNR s Cameron Oliver as Freshman of the Year, San Diego State s Skylar Spencer as Defensive Player of the Year, and UNR s Tyron Criswell as Sixth Man of the Year. Adams highlighted the first team and was joined by Brown, New Mexico s Tim Williams, Fresno State s Marvelle Harris and Boise State s James Webb III. The coaches team will be announced Tuesday. derrick JonEs Jr. s act score CanCElEd, InElIgIblE for further ComPETITIon On Feb. 29, UNLV was notified by ACT Testing that it had canceled Derrick Jones Jr. s ACT score; thereby, making him ineligible for further competition under NCAA rules. In the fall, he was declared eligible by the NCAA to compete this season. UNLV is in the process of reviewing the matter and its options with the relevant governing bodies to resolve the eligibility issues at hand. Jones Jr. had played in all 30 of UNLV s games through Feb. 27 vs. Wyoming, and was UNLV s second-leading scorer, averaging 11.5 ppg. He also averaged 4.5 rpg, while shooting 58.9 percent from the field. In addition, he averaged 1.4 blocked shots and had 0.9 steals per contest. Over his last three games Jones Jr. scored a combined 62 points on 19 of 27 FGs, was 24 of 28 on free throws, and grabbed 24 rebounds. He also added eight blocked shots and seven steals. Saturday at San Diego State was his first missed game because of the ineligibility. ThE unlv returners Barry Cheaney senior guard from Corona, Calif. - Non-scholarship player who was on the team for four years before leaving to focus on his studies. Pre-med. student was back on the team in time for the trip to Maui Invitational this season. Daquan Cook junior guard from Baltimore, Md., - Redshirted in with knee injury, appeared in 53 games for UNLV heading into this year. Was suspended for non-conference season after being arrested for driving under the influence on Nov. 1. Was then dismissed from the team on Feb. 5. Jordan Cornish sophomore guard from New Orleans, La. - His 3-point percentage of.487 (38- of-78) during his freshman year ranks second all-time for a season in UNLV history. Patrick McCaw sophomore guard St. Louis, Mo. - Is the team s top returning scorer from last year (9.6 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 2.7 apg and 1.5 spg). Led the team and was fifth in the Mountain West in steals. Dwayne Morgan sophomore forward from Baltimore, Md. - Appeared in all 33 of UNLV s games last season, averaging 5.3 ppg and 3.0 rpg. Goodluck Okonoboh sophomore forward/center from Boston, Mass. - Decided to transfer away from the program on Nov. 27. Was the team s top returning rebounder from last season (5.7 ppg, 4.5 rpg). 90 blocked shots last year ranks fourth in program history. MW All-Defensive Team, led the MW in blocks (ninth in country - first among freshmen). Set MW freshman blocked shots record for overall games and league play. ThE unlv newcomers Ben Carter junior forward from Las Vegas, Nev. - Transferred from Oregon and sat out season at UNLV. Tore his ACL on Jan. 30 vs. San Diego State and will miss the rest of the season. Bryan Glenn senior center from Las Vegas, Nev. - Was a walk-on during Coach Dave Rice s first season ( ) and recently rejoined the team (Friday, March 4). Is a non-scholarship player. He won the dunk contest at Runnin Rebel Madness, which was held in Downtown Las Vegas, after he jumped over teammates Stephen Zimmerman Jr., Ben Carter and Austin Starr. Clips of his dunks from the event were seen across the country and on ESPN. In the second game of the season against New Mexico Highlands on Nov. 16, Jones Jr. was at it again when he threw down a thunderous dunk against the Cowboys. That slam immediately went viral and the highlight appeared on numerous websites and ranked No. 6 on SportsCenter s Top 10 that night. Zimmerman Jr., from Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, was ranked as the 10-best player in the class of 2015 by ESPN and was a McDonald s High School All-American. A five-star recruit, he was the third McDonald s All-American to choose UNLV out of high school in the last four years. The others were Anthony Bennett and Rashad Vaughn. Over his four-year career at Bishop Gorman, Zimmerman Jr. was part of 114 victories making him the winningest player in school history. He also led the school to four straight state titles, becoming the only player in Nevada history to do so at the large-school level. As a senior at Bishop Gorman, he averaged 14.7 points, 10.1 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 2.4 blocks and 1.2 steals per game.
