2 KANSAS WOMEN S BASKETBALL TIMELINE First season of competition for Kansas women s basketball. Marlene Mawson coached the team to a 5-4 record. KU recorded its first win in its first game on Feb. 20, 1969 over Central Missouri State, 55-43, in Warrensburg, Mo. The Jayhawks played their first home game on March 1, 1969 against Kansas State, falling The Jayhawks captured the Big Eight title for the third consecutive year. Senior Lynette Woodard became a four-time Kodak All-American, and received the Broderick Award, the Wade Trophy and the NCAA Top 5 Award. Washington recorded her 150th win. Earned a No. 6 Associated Press ranking. Secured a berth in the NCAA Tournament. Angela Aycock named the Big Eight co-player of the Year Washington recorded her 300th win Washington named the recipient of the Carol Eckman Award. The Jayhawks advanced to the NWIT Postseason Tournament Captured Big Eight title. Washington named the Black Coaches Association Coach of the Year, the Big Eight Coach of the Year and the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association Women s Coach of the Year. Lynette Woodard was inducted into the GTE Academic All- America Hall of Fame. NCAA Tournament appearance. Washington recorded her 350th career win Kansas signed a Top Five recruiting class (Shelly Canada, Tamecka Dixon, Angie Halbleib, Jennifer Trapp). Angela Aycock was named a Kodak All-American Won the Big Eight title in the last year of existence for the conference. Advanced to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 for the first time in school history. Washington named Big Eight Coach of the Year and the Black Coaches Association Coach of the Year. Washington selected as assistant coach for the U.S. Olympic Team. Tamecka Dixon was named Big Eight Player of the Year. Angie Halbleib was named an Academic All-American Captured the first Big 12 title. Washington named Big 12 Coach of the Year. Washington recorded her 450th-career win and then named the William I. Koch Outstanding Woman of the Year. The Jayhawks made their sixth straight NCAA Tournament appearance. Tamecka Dixon was named the Big 12 Player of the Year and a Kodak All-American. Angie Halbleib was selected as an Academic All-American. 157

Lynn Pride named to the All-Big 12 First Team Washington picked up her 500th career win against Oklahoma on Feb. 20. Made eighth straight NCAA Tournament appearance. Lynn Pride was named honorable mention All- American as well as being named All-Big 12 First Team Advanced to the NCAA tournament for the ninth straight season and the 11th time overall. Lynn Pride was named honorable mention All-American as well as being named All-Big 12 first team. Kansas ended the decade of the 1990s as the 21st-winningest program in the nation Seniors Jennifer Jackson, Jaclyn Johnson and Brooke Reves all became 1,000-point scorers. To open the season, Kansas tied a school record for most points in a game after defeating Grambling State Jackson was named to the 2001 Verizon Academic All-District VII second team. Johnson was a third round draft selection in the 2001 WNBA draft Washington captured her 550th career victory at Nebraska on Feb. 19 in her 30th season as head coach of the Jayhawks. Washington honored by the Black Coaches Association with a Lifetime Achievement Award. KU more than doubled the win total from the previous year with a team comprised primarily of freshmen and sophomores Marian Washington took a medical leave of absence in mid-season, missing her first game in 31 years on Jan. 31, 2004 against Oklahoma State. Lynette Woodard stepped in as interim head coach to finish out the season. Bonnie Henrickson was named the fifth coach in school history on March 29, First year head coach Bonnie Henrickson introduced a new era of Jayhawk basketball, leading Kansas to its best record in five seasons and highest Big 12 finish in six campaigns. Juniors Erica Hallman and Crystal Kemp were each named All-Big 12 Honorable Mention. Kemp became the 18th player in Kansas history to reach 1,000 career points when she did so on Feb. 16 against Texas Tech. She also became just the 11th Jayhawk ever to reach 1,000 career points and 500 career rebounds. KU won its 600th all-time game against Denver on Nov. 30, and played its 1,000th game against Washburn on Dec Bonnie Henrickson led the Jayhawks to the postseason for the first time since the season. KU went 1-1 in two games in the WNIT, both played at Allen Fieldhouse. The season opened with a school-record 12-game winning streak capped by a victory over No. 23 Texas. Crystal Kemp was named All-Big 12 First Team -- the first selection for Kansas since KU also set a set a school-record average regular season attendance with 3,041 fans per game The Jayhawks advanced to the postseason for the second time under Bonnie Henrickson going 1-1 in the WNIT. KU defeated Evansville at home before falling at Michigan State on the road. Henrickson picked up her 200th career victory in a win over UMKC, while sophomore Danielle McCray was tabbed Honorable Mention All-Big 12 and freshman Krysten Boogaard was named to the Big 12 All-Rookie Team. 158
