(January 28, 2017) Tianna Rosser s double-double led Rollins to its fifth-straight victory, a road win at Palm Beach Atlantic. Carly McLendon recorded four blocks in the game, setting a new Rollins record for most in a season with 51. The sophomore added 12 points, seven rebounds and a steal. Rosser posted 15 points and 10 rebounds, her second double-double of the season, to pace the Tars. Marie Gilbert added 14 points, five rebounds, two blocks and two steals. Julia Ingler netted 13 and Jasmine Stone scored 10 points and eight rebounds. Hannah Grim led PBA with 18 points while Ayanna Holmes added 17 points and 11 rebounds. Mina Salhia scored 10 points and handed out five rebounds. Rollins extends its winning streak to five, the longest current run in the Sunshine State Conference. The Tars improved to 13-6 overall and 8-4 in league play while PBA drops to 7-12 and 3-9 in the SSC. HIGHLIGHTS AND QUARTER-BY-QUARTER ANALYSIS First Quarter l Rollins led the entire first quarter, but by no more than three at any point. The opening quarter featured five ties and ended with Rollins leading Second Quarter l PBA scored the first four points of the second and took a advantage early in the frame. Gilbert scored a conventional three-point play with 4:48 on the clock to put the Tars up and started a 13-1 run to end the half, punctuated with a Stone triple, giving Rollins a lead at the break. Third Quarter l Led by a balanced inside-outside game, Rollins pulled away in the third and led after a Brittany Betts three-pointer with 3:32 on the clock. The Fish outscored Rollins 9-2 the rest of the frame and the game headed into the fourth with Rollins winning Fourth Quarter l The Tars lead wilted to just seven, with 6:15 to play, but another Gilbert three-point play and four straight points from Rosser pushed the Tars advantage back to a comfortable with 3:24 left. Rollins wouldn t let PBA any closer than 10 the rest of the way. GAME NOTES Rollins improves to 23-1 all-time against PBA; 10-0 in West Palm Beach. The previous Rollins record for most blocks in a season was 50, set by Ellen O Day during the season. McLendon is now alone in 10th on the Tars career list with 76. The top rebounding team in the SSC, Rollins outrebounded an opponent by double-digits for the 12th time this season. Rosser s double-double was her second of the year and fourth by a Tars this season. Glenn Wilkes Jr. improves to all-time. WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 1, 2017) Rollins pushed its winning streak to six games, beating Embry-Riddle at home Wednesday. Julia Ingler, the reigning Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week, led the Tars (14-6) with 15 points and five rebounds. The junior shot 4-of-9 from the field, including 3-of-6 from long range, while also hitting all four free throw attempts. Tianna Rosser added nine points and 11 rebounds. Carly McLendon tallied eight points, six rebounds and five blocks. Sigrid Sandstrom netted 15 for Embry-Riddle (13-7) while Sabrina Whiting scored 13. Rollins earned the season split with ERAU after a just as close, defeat in Daytona Beach earlier in the season. HIGHLIGHTS AND QUARTER-BY-QUARTER ANALYSIS First Quarter l Embry-Riddle jumped out to a 7-0 lead after two minutes of play. The Tars trailed 11-2 midway through the quarter, but closed the first strong and trailed after the first 10 minutes. Second Quarter l The Eagles put Rollins into a hole at the 7:38 mark of the first. The Tars were just 3-of-16 from the field at that point. Coach Glenn Wilkes Jr. then earned a rare technical that woke up the Rollins offense, resulting in a 10-3 run to cut ERAU s lead to at the break. Third Quarter l A quick Marie Gilbert three-pointer to start the second and Ingler jumper gave Rollins its first lead of the night, with 9:26 left in the third. Ingler drained another triple to extend the advantage just two possessions later. ERAU came back to tie the score at 36 with 35 seconds left in the period before Tanaya Jones put the Tars back on top with a later bucket. Fourth Quarter l The Eagles came out firing to start the fourth and went up only to have the Tars score the next four points and swing the lead back their way. The game later stood tied at 46 with 4:25 to play. Both teams would then go ice cold until a Gilbert free throw three minutes later put the Tars back on top. Rosser hit another from the line to give Rollins a advantage with 1:12 left. Whiting hit from deep for ERAU on the next trip down the floor and put the visitors on top Jones then scored the go-ahead basket with a 15-foot jumper and later hit a pair at the line to put the Tars ahead with 22 seconds left. Rollins struggled at the line to close and gave the Eagles a chance at the end, but a potential game winning shot went begging at the buzzer. GAME NOTES Rollins now leads the all-time series with Embry-Riddle 3-1. This season s previous meeting between the two teams was also a two point game with ERAU winning Rollins nine turnovers was a season-low. Rollins was a season-worst 29.8 percent from the field. Rollins was outrebounded for just the fourth time this season. Carly McLendon moved into 10th on Rollins all-time blocks list with 81, passing Lindsey Woodcock. Tianna Rosser recorded double-digit rebounds for the seventh time this season. Glenn Wilkes Jr. improves to all-time.

25 The term legend is freely tossed around in athletics, but few are actually worthy of the tag. Rollins women s basketball coach Glenn Wilkes Jr., now in his 31st year, is one of the few. Wilkes is the winningest coach in Sunshine State Conference history, winning a record 13 regular season titles and eight SSC Tournament Championships. His career record of heading into the season ranks ninth best among active coaches in Division II and 14th all-time. He has the sixth most victories in the history of Division II and ranks 34th all-time covering all divisions. Wilkes winning percentage (.754) is the 33rd best among active coaches in all NCAA Divisions. Wilkes is a nine-time SSC Coach of the Year and was named Division II WBCA National Coach of the Year after the season. In 2007, Wilkes was honored as the Sunshine State Conference Silver Anniversary Top Coach of the First 25-Years. Rollins has won 20 or more games in 23 seasons under Wilkes, the fourth most all-time. Glenn Wilkes Jr. Head Coach 31st Year Stetson University 81 During Wilkes tenure, the Tars have earned 14 trips to the NCAA Tournament and in 2012 won the South Region Tournament for the first time in school history. While at the Elite Eight, Rollins advanced to the Final Four, the furthest any SSC team has ever gone in the tournament. Wilkes has coached six All-America honorees (Kim Tayrien, Kenya Storr, Jill Razor, Joslyn Giles, Larissa McDonough, Ashley Jones), and four SSC Players of the Year (Razor-twice, Storr, Giles). Tars have been named First Team All-SSC 28-times under Wilkes watch. Wilkes was named the head coach in 1986 and led the Tars to a 21-6 record in his first season. As an encore, the Tars captured their first SSC regular season and conference tournament titles, posting a record of 26-3 on the year. Rollins again raised the trophy the next three seasons and in 1995 earned the program s first bid to NCAA postseason play. The program again reached new heights in 2000 as the Tars won their third straight SSC title, advanced to the South Region Championship game and finished the year ranked 10th in the nation. In 2001, Rollins was ranked as high at sixth in the country, led by senior Jill Razor who became the Tars all-time leading scorer. Rollins was again in the national spotlight in 2004, winning the SSC regular season and tournament titles and hosting the South Region Tournament as the No. 1 seed. Wilkes campaign re-wrote the record books as the Tars completed the school s and SSC s first-ever undefeated season, going Rollins easily captured the SSC regular season title and advanced to the tournament finals before falling in a heartbreaker. They earned a berth into the NCAA Division II South Region Tournament, but were bounced out in the first round. Wilkes filled up his personal trophy case after being named SSC Coach of the Year for the ninth time, South Region Coach of the Year and, for the first time in his career, WBCA NCAA Division II National Coach of the Year. The Tars season, however, is the one that will go down in the record books. It started with Rollins winning its 13th Sunshine State Conference regular season championship, seventh SSC Tournament title and, for the first time in school history, the NCAA Division II South Region Championship. The Tars did so as the top seed on their home floor, culminating in a thrilling victory over Valdosta State in the final game. In the Elite Eight for the first time, Rollins beat Lander in the opening round before falling to eventual national champion Shaw in the semifinals. Rollins finished the year 28-6 overall and 12-4 in SSC play. Successful collegiate coaching is nothing new to the Wilkes family as Glenn is the son of former Stetson University Head Coach and Florida Hall of Fame member Glenn Wilkes Sr. The duo has combined for more than 1,300 wins and during the season, Wilkes Jr. passed his father s career win total of 551, amassed during a 38-year tenure at Stetson. A number of those wins came during the four seasons in which the younger Wilkes spent as a player for his father.
