1 Lacrosse 101 Oldest game in North America, originally played by the Native American Indians US Lacrosse is the governing body for all levels, including youth divisions. 10 Players per team (8 players at 3 rd /4 th Grade): (3) Midfielders (cover entire playing area) (3) Attackmen (cover offensive end only) (3) Defenders (cover defensive end only) (1) Goalie The object is to shoot the ball into the opponents goal, resulting in one point. Players use their sticks to pass, catch and shoot the ball. Game play begins with a face-off at the midfield line. Light contact and stick-checking are allowed during game play. Penalties are given for movement violations, rough play, etc. Certified referees are present to Officiate at all grade levels.

4 Benefits of playing Lacrosse Physical Fitness We use a planned and proven method of conditioning and skills / drills for our players. The game itself is great exercise, a ton of fun and provides plenty of good, old-fashioned fresh air. We encourage healthy choices, including nutrition. Team Concept / Inclusion Our players are all part of a very special organization. We focus on respect, positive attitude and team play. More and more kids are wearing their Jerseys to school to show they are a lacrosse player. We encourage teamwork. Confidence Playing on a team, working together to get a job done, a sense of accomplishment. We encourage life priorities including faith, family and academics, followed by athletics. Fun Just ask any of our players! Several of our players are multi-sport athletes and tell us that this one is their favorite. We encourage athletic diversity.

5 Lacrosse Seasons Call-Out & Registration January Indoor Practices January & February, once or twice per week as facilties are available Outdoor Practices on or about March 1 st (weather permitting) 3 rd /4 th Grades and 5 th /6 th Grades twice per week, 7 th /8 th Grades up to three per week Competitive Season April through end of May, all Grade levels Can be 2 or 3 games per week, weeknights and some weekend days. Locations include Noblesville (Home), Westfield, HSE, Zionsville, Carmel, Center Grove, St. Simon, Park Tudor, Bloomington, Heritage Christian Off-Season Summer travel opportunities, Indoor Lacrosse Fall & Winter

6 How We Coach Lacrosse Head coaches (at a minimum) undergo formal certification through US Lacrosse. All coaching staff complete a background check. Principles of the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) and NYLAX Code of Conduct are applied. 3 rd /4 th Grade- Focus on fundamental lacrosse skills, team play, sportsmanship 5 th /6 th Grade - Focus on skills development, game situations, team play, sportsmanship 7 th /8 th Grade - Focus on advanced skills development, game strategy, team cohesion and sportsmanship
