The three-day tournament begins Thursday with Session I star ng at 11 a.m. and Session II at 6 p.m. Sessions III (quarterfinals) and IV (semifinals) begin Friday at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. The medal round starts Saturday at 10 a.m., and the championship finals begin Saturday at 7 p.m. All mes are central. ESPN COVERAGE OF THE CHAMPIONSHIPS ESPN will televise the semifinals and finals. ESPNU will stream the first and second sessions, and the quarterfinals and medal round. OUTSTANDING WRESTLERS Ten different Hawkeyes have been named the NCAA Championships Outstanding Wrestler. They include Chuck Yagla (1976), Bruce Kinseth (1979), Jim Zalesky (1984), Barry Davis (1985), Mary Kistler (1986), Tom Brands (1992), Terry Steiner (1993), Lincoln McIlravy (1997), Joe Williams (1998) and Brent Metcalf (2008). ALL AMERICAN STREAK The Hawkeyes have crowned at least one All- American every year since 1972, a span of 43 seasons. Iowa has totaled 261 All-America honors during that stretch. The Hawkeyes have four All-Americans on this year s squad. Mike Evans placed sixth in 2013 and Bobby Telford placed fi h as a freshman in 2012 and fourth last season. Nathan Burak (8th) earned his first All-America honor in 2014, as did Cory Clark, who placed fi h at 125 last season. 10 QUALIFIERS Iowa has sent at least eight athletes to the NCAA Championships in each of head coach Tom Brands nine seasons. This year marks the 19th me since 1968 that Iowa has sent its en re 10-man lineup to the na onal tournament. Iowa has won the NCAA team crown 14 mes when sending its en re 10-man lineup.

FOURTH AND FINAL: Mike Evans (Jr., 174), Bobby Telford (Jr., 285). 41 YEARS OF DOMINANCE Since 1974, only seven schools have captured the NCAA Championship. During that 40-year span, the Hawkeyes have won 23 team tles, including nine straight from The other schools include Oklahoma State (7), Penn State (4), Minnesota (3), Iowa State (2), Arizona State (1) and Oklahoma (1). SENIOR MOMENTS Iowa is taking five seniors -- Dziewa, Kelly, Moore, Evans, Telford -- to the na onal tournament, the most since qualifying seven seniors for the 2010 NCAA Championships in Omaha. In 2010, six of seven seniors earned All- America honors, including na onal champions Brent Metcalf and Jay Borschel, and current Iowa assistant coach Ryan Morningstar (7th). That senior class led Iowa to the NCAA team tle, the 23rd team tle in program history. 40 YEARS SINCE NO. 1 Iowa celebrated the 40th anniversary of its first na onal championship on Jan. 23. Gary Kurdelmeier led Iowa to its first NCAA Championship in 1975, and in the 40 years since, the Hawkeyes have accumulated 23 team tles, more than any other school -- Oklahoma State (7), Penn State (4), Minnesota (3), Iowa State (2), and Arizona State (1). NCAA TITLE MINUS B1G CHAMPIONSHIP Eighteen mes in the history of Iowa wrestling a Hawkeye has gone on to win the NCAA individual tle without winning the conference tle. The last me it happened was 2010, when Brent Metcalf and Ma McDonough both responded from losses in the Big Ten tournament by running to the top of the NCAA bracket. BRANDON SORENSEN, 149 POUNDS Sorensen placed second at the 2015 Big Ten Championships to earn an automa c berth in the 2015 NCAA tournament. He is the No. 4 seed. BIG TEN DUAL CHAMPIONS Iowa won the Big Ten regular season dual tle with a 22-9 win over Michigan on Feb. 13. The Hawkeyes finished the Big Ten season 9-0, one dual ahead of Nebraska (8-1) and Ohio State (8-1). The Hawkeyes have won or shared seven of the last eight Big Ten dual championships, and have won or shared the regular season tle eight mes since the conference started recognizing a dual meet champion in Iowa won the tle outright in 2000, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, and 2015, and shared the tle in 2003 and WIN CLUB Senior Bobby Telford pinned Indiana s Garre Goldman in the opening round of the 2014 Big Ten tournament to record his 100th career win. THE ATTENDANCE GAME The University of Iowa wrestling program led the na on in a endance for the ninth consecu ve season. Iowa averaged 8,358 fans in six duals and led the country in total a endance with 55,390 fans a ending seven home dates (including Iowa CIty Duals). The Hawkeyes averaged at least 8,000 fans for the seventh consecu ve season. Iowa was involved in the three highest a ended duals this year, including at Penn State (15,967), at Minnesota (13,620) and at home against Iowa State (11,882). BRANDS PASSES BRANDS Head Coach Tom Brands moved into second place in all- me dual victories when Iowa defeated Virginia, 30-6, on Feb. 15. Brands has 163 dual wins since taking over the Iowa program in 2006, one more than Dave Mc- Cuskey had from He trails Dan Gable on the all- me dual wins list in program history. Gable had a record of from Brands owns a (.908) as Iowa s head coach. He now has more victories as coach than he did as student-athlete. B1G WEEKLY HONORS The Hawkeyes received five Big Ten weekly honors this season, more than any other conference school. A 1996 Olympic gold medalist and member of wrestling s Hall of Fame, Brands is only the eighth wrestling coach at the University of Iowa. The former Hawkeye wrestler was a four-time All-American and three-time national champion ( ) at Iowa. He has a (.908) overall and 67-6 (.918) Big Ten coaching record at Iowa, and a (.832) career mark. In eight-plus seasons as Iowa s head coach, Brands has led the Hawkeyes to three NCAA championships and four Big Ten team titles, crowning nine NCAA champions, 11 Big Ten champions and 44 All- Americans. Iowa has honored 61 academic all-big Ten recipients, including a school-record 12 in The Hawkeyes have qualifi ed 82 wrestlers for the NCAA Championships in the last nine years, sending the entire 10-man lineup in 2009, 2010, 2014, and Iowa has also won or shared seven of the last eight Big Ten regular season titles. During Brands tenure, Iowa set school records for longest dual unbeaten (84) and winning streaks (69), longest dual road unbeaten (51) and winning streaks (44), most Carver-Hawkeye Arena victories (11) and most dual shutouts (8). Iowa also made another entry in the record books, setting the then-national collegiate dual meet attendance record of 15,955 when Iowa defeated Iowa State, 20-15, on Dec. 6, 2008, at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Iowa has led the nation in attendance in each of Brands nine seasons, setting an NCAA all-time attendance average of 9,014 in Brands was named 2008 NWCA Coach of the Year after leading the Hawkeyes to their fi rst NCAA team title since 2000 and their fi rst Big Ten team title since He was named Big Ten Coach of the Year in 2008, 2009 and 2010, becoming the fi rst coach in conference history to earn the honor in three consecutive seasons. Brands served as head coach at Virginia Tech University for two seasons ( ), recording a dual mark. In his fi rst season with the Hokies, Brands led the team to the 2005 regular season Atlantic Coast Conference title, set a school record for dual meet wins (16) and had a school-record fi ve wrestlers qualify for the NCAA Championships. During his tenure, Virginia Tech crowned fi ve ACC champions and had two All-Americans. Senior heavyweight Mike Faust was named 2006 ACC Wrestler of the Year. Prior to taking the helm at Virginia Tech, Brands was an assistant coach at Iowa for 12 seasons ( ). He helped the Hawkeyes to a dual record, seven NCAA and eight Big Ten team titles, while crowning 23 NCAA champions, 73 All-Americans and 36 Big Ten champions. He was named the National Wrestling Coaches Association Assistant Coach of the Year in In 2004, he was one of three coaches for the U.S. Olympic freestyle wrestling team, participating in Athens. Brands also served as assistant coach for the 2002 and 2003 U.S. Freestyle World Teams, earning Freestyle Coach of the Year honors from USA Wrestling both years. He was also a member of the U.S. coaching staff at the 2001 World Championships, and has coached a number of other U.S. teams in international competition. As a competitor, Brands won the 1996 Olympic freestyle gold medal at pounds in Atlanta, GA. He also won a gold medal at the 1993 World Freestyle Championships in Toronto, two World Cup gold medals (1994, 1995) and was the 1995 Pan American Games champion.
