Anaheim Ducks Ducks' hot streak continues with 2-1 win over Penguins Associated Press PITTSBURGH Dog tired at the end of a lengthy shift, the Ducks' Matt Beleskey saw a familiar No. 8 out of the corner of his eye, flipped the puck in that general direction and hoped for the best. When it comes to Teemu Selanne, the best tends to happen. Selanne took Beleskey's feed and beat Pittsburgh's Marc-Andre Fleury with a nifty backhand midway through the third period to lift the surging Ducks past the Penguins 2-1 on Wednesday night. "There's a reason he's got a jillion goals in this league," Ducks Coach Bruce Boudreau said. Maybe not a jillion, but he's getting there. Selanne's 19th of the season was also the 656th of his career, tying him with Brendan Shanahan for 12th place on the NHL list. It came a night after Boudreau sat the veteran for much of the third period in a 2-1 victory over Minnesota. The benching was an effort to preserve Selanne's 41-year-old legs for the rest of the team's eight-game trip. He certainly looked fresh Wednesday when the Ducks ended Pittsburgh's home winning streak at six games. "This game was huge for us," Selanne said. "We got here at like 3 in the morning. They came out pretty hard and controlled the first period and then we got into the game. This team is playing with a lot of confidence right now, and even though we got behind we believed we could come back." Corey Perry scored his 28th goal and Jonas Hiller made 25 saves as the Ducks won in Pittsburgh for the first time in 11 years. The Ducks are since New Year's Day, tied with Detroit for the most points in the NHL over that stretch. "We really didn't get too many good opportunities, and when we did, those shots didn't go through," Penguins Coach Dan Bylsma said. Evgeni Malkin, the NHL's leading scorer, was held pointless for the second time this month, and his eight-game goal streak at home ended too. Jordan Staal scored for Pittsburgh, but the Penguins' high-flying offense was bottled up over the last two periods. "We got lucky and [Malkin] didn't score," Boudreau said. Although the Ducks hadn't won in Pittsburgh since 2001, Boudreau made it a habit while behind the bench for the Washington Capitals. Washington dominated the regular-season series with the Penguins, beating Pittsburgh eight straight times during his tenure before he was fired in December. The Consol Energy Center crowd hadn't forgotten, booing Boudreau loudly when the in-house camera panned to him in the first period. The Ducks ( ) the 13th-place team in the Western Conference are within six points of the postseason cutoff. "We had the group in here to play like this all season," forward Ryan Getzlaf said. "For whatever reason, the start of the season was just tough for us and we couldn't get it done. We've found a way now, and we're rallying around our coach and rallying around each other." 5 Anaheim Ducks Teemu Selanne: Where he stands on all-time lists By MARK WHICKER Teemu Selanne is probably playing his final of 27 regular season games as a Duck, although we've been anticipating his retirement since His assault on the record books, on many different fronts, has been more impressive by the year. Here's a look at where Selanne stands in some of the NHL's most prestigious categories. Orange County Register: LOADED:

Anaheim Ducks One night later, Selanne energized By ERIC STEPHENS Smith-Pelly played in four games, recording one assist and two penalty minutes. It is first action since breaking his left foot Dec. 26 when he blocked a shot against Finland while playing for Canada in the World Junior Championships. "He didn't set the world on fire," Boudreau said. "But his whole goal was to get back into game shape, being out with the broken foot and all." Orange County Register: LOADED: PITTSBURGH Prideful as he is about playing at a high level and having a key role, Teemu Selanne wasn't about to let the sting of being left on the bench get him down. A night after playing only 21/2 minutes of the third period against Minnesota because of his ineffectiveness, Selanne bounced back to score the decisive goal Wednesday in the Ducks' 2-1 triumph over the Pittsburgh Penguins at Consol Energy Center. Selanne played a season-low 13 minutes, 27 seconds and Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau said it was his call to sit him while the Ducks came back against the Wild, saying "it just looked like it wasn't his night." But Selanne, 41, responded by scoring his 656th career goal, tying Brendan Shanahan for 12th place on the NHL's all-time goal scoring list. It also put him into 21st place with 1,392 points, passing Brett Hull. "That's why we rested him a little bit yesterday so he had that energy to do that," Boudreau said. "He's been doing that his whole life. When you needed something big, he was there to get something big. You need that." Selanne said he had no issue with being benched for defensive purposes during five-on-five play. "I missed probably three shifts," he said. "That's nothing. To be honest, I was dead tired for some reason. And it happens. A lot of times when you feel like that, it's not the greatest place to be. "This is about team effort. Everybody has done the job. That's what makes this team special." Selanne said it was the first time in "a long, long time" where he felt his age, but that the rest turned into his favor Wednesday as he had extra energy to use. He showed that when he broke free in the third period to convert a backhand shot. As for Boudreau's willingness to pull the ice time of star players if they're not going well in a particular game, Selanne said "that's how it should be." "I don't care who you are," he said. "He has done that with (Alex) Ovechkin many times. It's all about how you respond to that. I'm old enough to just move on. I know that if I get one bad night every 20 games, I take it. "He came to me after the game and said, 'Teemu, I don't think you had it tonight.' I said, 'Hey, I'm the first guy to say that.'" Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf said the way Selanne responded "should show a lesson to everybody." "It's huge," Getzlaf said. "That stuff doesn't go unnoticed in the locker room. A guy that age, he came back tonight. "To come back tonight and play the way he did, it makes us proud of him." PERRY heating up Just as he did at this point last season, Corey Perry is heating up and finding the net with regularity. Perry scored his team-leading 28th goal late the second period, giving him six goals in his past five games. He also had 28 goals after 57 games a year ago before he exploded down the stretch to finish with a career-high 50. He was slashed on a wrist late in the game and was examined by the trainer, but returned to the ice before the final horn. "Pears has always been able to play at a certain level at certain times," Getzlaf said. "That's what has made him the player he is. He's been able to play at the big times. We'll count on him to keep doing the same thing." Smith-Pelly returns Rookie Devante Smith-Pelly is back with the Ducks after completing his conditioning assignment with Syracuse (AHL).

Anaheim Ducks Ducks stay hot with Selanne's help By ERIC STEPHENS PITTSBURGH Teemu Selanne's goal displayed who he has always been, but Matt Beleskey's work to get him the puck defined who the Ducks have become. No obstacle, it seems, is too big for the hard-charging Ducks, who went into Pittsburgh on Wednesday night and came out with a clutch 2-1 victory over the Penguins to gain more ground in their push for the playoffs. Selanne provided the heroics as his backhand shot past Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury at 7:51 of the third snapped a 1-1 tie, giving him 656 for his career to tie Brendan Shanahan for 12th place on the NHL's all-time goal-scoring list. "I knew he was going to challenge me because I came from the angle," Selanne said. "I've done that move like 1,000 times in the practices and the games. It just came in my mind. I tried it and it's always good to see that go in." But it was Beleskey who earned as many raves afterward as he battled for the puck during an exceedingly long shift and flipped a cross-ice pass on his backhand to a streaking Selanne. "He's in shape because it was about a 3-minute shift," Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau said. "I was yelling at him to get off. He positioned himself well and when he got the puck, he made a fabulous backhand pass." Said Beleskey: "I think I started losing oxygen and just blacked out for a while. It was good though." The goal gave the Ducks ( ) their second come-from-behind victory in two days even though they arrived in their hotel room at 2 a.m. after flying from Minnesota. Corey Perry forged a tie late in the second period with his 28th goal. Thought to be sellers at the Feb. 27 trade deadline, the Ducks are on their eight-game trip and since Jan. 6. They're now six points behind eighth-place Phoenix and closing. "Back-to-backs are always hard," Beleskey said. "Coming into Pittsburgh, it's a tough place to play. We came together. We're playing like we can. I've said that all year. This team is just waiting to jell and I think we're feeling it right now." Orange County Register: LOADED:

Anaheim Ducks Final: Ducks 2, Penguins 1 posted by JEFF MILLER, For the second consecutive game and day, the Ducks fell behind 1-0 but came back to win a big road game, 2-1, this time at Pittsburgh. Teemu Selanne scored the game-winner Wednesday night at 7:51 of the third period. The goal was No. 19 for the season for Selanne and No. 656 for his career, tying Brendan Shanahan for 12th on the NHL s all-time list. Four games into their eight-game trip the Ducks ( ) earned seven points. For a poll on how many points their pick up during their journey,. Selanne s goal was set up by good hustle by Matt Beleskey, who gained control of the puck and managed to feed his high-scoring teammate at the end of a long shift. Sheldon Brookbank picked up the secondary assist. Jonas Hiller earned the victory in goal. Pittsburgh took its 1-0 lead on a first-period goal by Jordan Staal. Corey Perry tied the score, 1-1, at 19:08 of the second period. Bobby Ryan and Luca Sbisa picked up the assists. The goal was Perry s 28th of the season and his fifth in six games. The Ducks continue their season-long trip at 4 p.m. Friday at New Jersey. Orange County Register: LOADED:

Anaheim Ducks DUCKS 2, PITTSBURGH 1: Ducks are mightier than the Pens By Will Graves The Associated Press PITTSBURGH - The Ducks' Matt Beleskey, worn out at the end of a lengthy shift, saw a familiar No. 8 out of the corner of his eye, flipped the puck in that general direction and hoped for the best. 11 Boston Bruins Seguin gives Bruins shootout win over Canadiens AP MONTREAL The Boston Bruins' competitive fire was stoked by the latest encounter with their longtime rivals, the Montreal Canadiens. Tyler Seguin's shootout goal gave Boston a 4-3 victory over Montreal on Wednesday night after the Bruins squandered a two-goal lead in the third period. Seguin hesitated as he drove in on Carey Price before firing a shot past the goalie. David Krejci had sent a shot off the post on Boston's first attempt. Tim Thomas stopped Rene Bourque, Max Pacioretty and Lars Eller in the tiebreaker for his 24th win. He made 26 saves during regulation and overtime. "It felt like a bit more passionate game than we've been playing recently," said Thomas, who improved to 5-0 in shootouts this season. "We brought the effort, and we had a better team energy than we've had lately. And part of that, I think, was the way Montreal came at us -- but we responded, which is a good thing." Andrew Ference, Benoit Pouliot and Patrice Bergeron scored for Boston, which began a six-game trip -- its longest of the season -- on a winning note following a 2-4 skid. Max Pacioretty and Erik Cole scored in the third for Montreal. Mathieu Darche had tied it 1-1 with a short-handed goal early in the second. "It's hard to say it's a good game when we don't come up with two points at this time of the year, when we're on the outside looking in," Pacioretty said. Price stopped 31 shots for the Canadiens, which had a four-game winning streak snapped on Monday with a 5-3 loss to Carolina. Montreal is 12th in the Eastern Conference. "It's unfortunate that because of that Carolina game, now we've lost two in a row and we're not where we could be," Darche said. "I think the last two weeks we've played the way we should have all year, and if we would have done that I don't think we'd be in this situation." Pacioretty scored his team-leading 24th goal 3:34 into the third to draw the Canadiens within 3-2. Cole tied it with his 22nd goal at 11:12, deking around Thomas and beating him with a backhand. "I don't know if we got caught off guard. We've got to be better," Bergeron said. "We know they're a team that never stops battling, and they showed that again. We found a way but we're not happy with our last period." Bruins center Brad Marchand put a shot off the crossbar 2:41 into overtime. Marchand was given a minor penalty for clipping for his low hit on Montreal defenseman Alexei Emelin at the end of the second. He was suspended for five games last month after he was given a major for clipping and a game misconduct for his hit on Vancouver's Sami Salo on Jan. 7. Pouliot restored Boston's lead at 2-1 with his ninth goal 5:07 into the second. The former Montreal left wing stick-handled past defenseman Chris Campoli to gain the slot before firing a shot past Price. Bergeron scored his 17th goal on a power play 14:33 into the second to put Boston up 3-1. The tally came with 6 seconds left in a penalty to Cole, the second of two straight goalie interference calls against Montreal that gave the Bruins a 5-on-3 advantage for 1:12. Ference scored his fifth goal 17:09 in. The defenseman beat Price with a shot from the top of right circle after Marchand intercepted the puck from defenseman Hal Gill along the boards behind the Canadiens' net. Darche tied it with a short-handed goal 1:39 into the second, driving the net to direct P.K. Subban's centering pass inside the left post. Bruins captain Zdeno Chara was struck on the chin when Tomas Plekanec attempted to clear the Canadiens' zone with a slap shot of a rolling puck at the end of the first. The sold-out crowd of 21,273 continued to cheer even as Chara was down on the ice for several moments before he made his way to the dressing room. "It's very disappointing," Chara said. "You have a guy lying on the ice kind of hurt and they give a standing ovation for that. What can I say? There's nothing much I can say about that. I can't control that, and I moved on. I got up, I got stitched up, and I was back in the second." Chara delivered a devastating hit on Pacioretty last March. The Canadiens forward sustained a broken vertebra in his neck and missed the rest of the regular season and Montreal's first-round playoff loss to the Bruins. NOTES: Thomas has stopped 15 of 16 shootout attempts.... Montreal RW Ryan White held Bruins D Adam McQuaid's jersey in his hand before tossing it onto the ice at the end of their spirited fight 14:15 into the first.... Pacioretty was also called for goaltender interference in the first.... The Canadiens are one win short of their 3,200th, dating to the franchise's days in the National Hockey Association. 14 Boston Bruins Ice dam By Fluto Shinzawa The goal horn had sounded. The red light had flashed behind Henrik Lundqvist. The Bruins, off a point shot by Dennis Seidenberg, seemingly had made it a 3-1 game at 10:01 of the third period. But Seidenberg thought it all looked a little weird. When I shot it, I tried to get it past the first guy, Seidenberg said. I saw his pad on the short post. I didn t really see any room for it to go in. I was kind of surprised when they showed it was a goal. But I didn t expect it to be one. Video replay confirmed what Seidenberg had feared. His shot had gone wide left and thudded into the padding around the goal, not into the net. Nothing last night, after all, was beating Lundqvist. The Bruins sent 42 pucks on Lundqvist, including 18 in the third period. Lundqvist shooed them all aside to backstop the Rangers to a 3-0 win last night before 17,565 at TD Garden. We can be fooled by our shots for, said Bruins coach Claude Julien. I m not saying we didn t do anything right. We spent some time in their end. We had some good shots. We did some good things. I m talking about overall. As a team game and as an identity of what we re looking for, it wasn t there. The Rangers are the top team in the Eastern Conference, and perhaps the club to beat overall, for many reasons. Lundqvist is currently the lead dog for the Vezina Trophy as the league s best goalie. Their defense, led by shutdown stud Dan Girardi (three hits, three blocked shots in a game-high 28:08 of ice time), doesn t allow many quality chances. Up front, with captain Ryan Callahan pointing the way, the Rangers take advantage of mistakes and turn them into goals. In short, the Rangers are playing the kind of game the Bruins once mastered. It is the type of game that has eluded the Bruins for too many weeks. We re a checking team that scores. That s our identity, Julien said. But right now we re not checking and we re not scoring. We ve got to get back to checking. Checking is playing a lot harder, winning battles, and being really hard to score against. When you do that, teams get frustrated like we did tonight. We made a few mistakes and it ended up in our net. They beat us at our own game. At 9:21 of the first, Zdeno Chara was called for delay of game. Julien didn t see the play originally. But when he saw the replay, the coach acknowledged that Chara had picked up the puck. On the following power play, good rotation by New York and overpursuit by the Bruins led to a man-advantage strike. Marian Gaborik zipped a crisp seam pass down to Michael Del Zotto at the left circle. Tim Thomas bit on Del Zotto, believing the defenseman would snap off a short-range shot. Instead, Del Zotto sent a cross-crease pass to Callahan, who had slipped behind Seidenberg. Callahan had an easy tap-in at 10:09 of the first. The Rangers doubled their lead in the final seconds of the first. Ryan McDonagh intercepted Patrice Bergeron s clearing attempt. McDonagh flipped a shot on goal that thudded off Chara and caromed past Thomas (17 saves) at 19:48. That s a bounce you can t prevent, Chara said. Just an unlucky bounce. The Bruins pushed the hardest in the second. David Krejci, reunited with Milan Lucic and Rich Peverley, helped to create regular scoring chances when the line took the ice. But Lundqvist repeatedly foiled the Bruins. The best chance came at the 12-minute mark of the second. A Chara shot slipped through the defense and rolled into the crease. Lucic and Jordan Caron jammed at the puck. Lucic raised his arms, believing the puck was in the net. Instead, it had rattled underneath Anton Stralman. Lundqvist made some really great saves. Really close ones, Chara said. Early in the third, the Rangers scored a gut punch of a goal. During four-onfour play (Lucic and Brandon Prust were off for matching unsportsmanlike conduct penalties), the Bruins tried to force the offensive issue. Joe Corvo pinched on Brandon Dubinsky inside the offensive blue line in hopes of keeping the puck in the zone. But Dubinsky shielded the puck from Corvo s check and sent a pass to an in-stride Artem Anisimov. Because Corvo had pinched, Anisimov and Del Zotto sprinted away for a two-on-one rush against Seidenberg. The defenseman took away Anisimov s passing lane. But Anisimov snapped a wrister over Thomas s blocker at 2:53 of the third to give the Rangers a 3-0 lead. If we could get one, we could get two, Julien said. But they came out and scored that third goal. It was a backbreaker. You could feel it on the bench. Especially knowing they re a stingy team. It certainly made things a lot tougher for us. We had some opportunities. But Lundqvist played well for them. Boston Globe LOADED:

Boston Bruins Foe's been the rage in the cage By Michael Whitmer First Milan Lucic, then Tyler Seguin, then Dennis Seidenberg. All were hopeful, at various points of last night s visit by the Rangers, that a puck had gotten past New York goaltender Henrik Lundqvist. No, no, no. Ultimately, 42 times no. Lundqvist took on all comers, and impressively turned every one away, giving the Bruins 60 more minutes to stew over and everybody else watching the game a first-hand look at this season s possible Vezina Trophy winner. Until those in the stands chose to leave, that is, many of them well before the final horn. With the reigning Vezina holder, Tim Thomas, observing from the opposite end of the ice, Lundqvist added to his personal domination over the Bruins, earning his sixth career shutout in 25 games against Boston. New York s 3-0 win also increased its lead in the Eastern Conference to 9 points over the second-place Bruins, and left the home club wondering when - or even if - it ll ever be able to solve the 29-year-old Swede. He plays well against us, and we ve just got to do a better job, Bruins coach Claude Julien said. There s some luck involved, but a good goaltender makes his own luck. He plays deep in his net, but he s sharp and very quick. I ve always said he s a good goaltender, and just because he doesn t play for you doesn t mean he doesn t deserve these compliments. Lundqvist improved to in his career against the Bruins, and has won his last four starts at TD Garden. I just like this building. Nice people, I guess, Lundqvist said. I like the type of games where both teams are battling a lot in front of the net. I m a goalie that likes to battle myself, so I kind of feed off the players, and to see my own players work that hard, being physical and paying the price in front of me, I get excited to play. Also, knowing that Boston is a team that is not going to give up much, I personally have to be sharp if I want to help the team get 2 points. He was certainly sharp, but that s not to say the Bruins were without decent scoring chances, especially after the first period, when the Rangers built a 2-0 lead. They peppered Lundqvist with 32 shots over the final 40 minutes, all coming up empty. Lucic thought he sneaked one through during the second period, when the Bruins carried the play throughout the 20 minutes, outshot the Rangers, 14-5, yet left the ice still in a two-goal hole. Late in the period, Lucic deflected a shot under Lundqvist s pads, with a large scrum pushing the goaltender across the line. Because his stick was knocked loose, Lucic raised both hands, sure that his redirect had gone in. Only it hadn t. Lundqvist got his pads down, and kept them there, trapping the puck. Denied. Midway through the third period, Seguin thought he had his 21st goal of the season when he sent a rebound toward Lundqvist, with plenty of net visible and the goalie falling down. But Lundqvist gloved the attempt at the last instant, causing Seguin, whose momentum had carried him away from the goal, to snap his head back around, incredulous that his bid had failed. We thought we had a goal, but that was a symbol of tonight s game, Julien said. We weren t going to catch a break. He stuck the glove out and made the big save on Seguin. Finally, off a faceoff a few minutes after Seguin was robbed, Seidenberg found the puck on his stick, and rifled a shot that got past Lundqvist, flicked the net, and triggered the red goal light to come on behind the glass. Finally? Well, no. An overhead camera replay showed that the puck went just to the left of the pipe and got caught on the outside of the net. The goal was waved off, dousing the Bruins best chance. I was surprised when they called it a goal, because I saw his pad was covering the short side, so I didn t really think there was a chance for it to go in, Seidenberg said. Once they called it off, I kind of expected it. It was that kind of night. It s been that kind of night for the Bruins against Lundqvist, especially in the Boston barn. They ll get at least two more shots at him, assuming he starts the remaining regular-season games between the teams, both at Madison Square Garden. Then, perhaps, a playoff series. So far, Lundqvist has had the upper hand. The Bruins, it seems, bring out the best in him. We re a confident group right now, Lundqvist said. They kept coming, but we kept calm. Boston Globe LOADED:

Boston Bruins Boychuk checks in with three-year contract By Fluto Shinzawa Had the Bruins allowed Johnny Boychuk to hit unrestricted free agency on July 1, they might have had to spend $4 million or more per season to find a No. 3 defenseman. They were not willing to take that risk. Yesterday, the Bruins signed Boychuk to a three-year, $10.1 million extension. He will carry an annual cap hit of $3,366,667 million. Boychuk, who was in the last season of a two-year, $3.75 million contract, will earn $3.1 million in , $3.4 million in , and $3.6 million in The contract includes a limited no-trade clause. I would think, if he went to the market, he could have gotten more, said general manager Peter Chiarelli. The grass is not always greener. The 28-year-old Boychuk has been a solid complement to Zdeno Chara on the top defensive pairing. Through 53 games, Boychuk has three goals and seven assists while averaging more than 20 minutes of ice time per appearance. You go back home and think about getting a job for the summertime, said Boychuk of being a five-year AHLer. It s just like being a normal person when you have to work out and train really hard. It s tough when you re a minor league player. People think you make a lot. But you don t. You go home and you have to pay for a lot of things, like training. When you look back at it, it s probably a blessing in disguise that it happened. The Bruins acquired Boychuk from Colorado for Matt Hendricks on June 24, In , Boychuk racked up 20 goals and 45 assists for Providence and was named the AHL Defenseman of the Year. As an NHLer, Boychuk has been a defense-first blue liner with a knack for landing tooth-rattling thumps. He s a Bruins-type player, Chiarelli said. Physical and he can score with the shot. He s a punishing player. He chose not to test the market, which was nice for us. Hennessy on call If there is a secret to NHL success, a strong sense of identity would be among the required intangibles. When Josh Hennessy started his pro career, perhaps that was missing. I think I m more mature and a little bit more responsible defensively, said Hennessy, who was recalled by the Bruins from Providence Monday. I think I can probably fit into a couple different roles. I might have been more one-dimensional then. Hennessy, a Rockland native, was a healthy scratch last night. The 27- year-old forward traveled to Montreal with the Bruins after the game and will be the extra forward during their six-game road trip. He earned the nod over Zach Hamill, who faded during his recent stint with the big club. If there s an injury on this road trip, it s a lot easier to bring the guy along if he s been around the team, said coach Claude Julien, than just to fly him in, expect him to jump in there, and do the job. Hennessy s last NHL appearance was Dec. 21, 2009, when he played for Ottawa. He has appeared in 20 NHL games, all with Ottawa, and has one goal. This year, Hennessy has 15 goals and 15 assists in 49 games for Providence and has assumed a leadership role under first-year coach Bruce Cassidy. It s been the first season for me where I ve actually been one of the older guys on the team, Hennessy said. It s been a learning experience as far as being a leader and a veteran guy. Nash bridges Columbus captain Rick Nash is that organization s cornerstone, but he could be traded before the Feb. 27 deadline. The Blue Jackets, the NHL s worst team, are considering every angle for improvement. The Bruins are one of the few teams with the primary piece Columbus general manager Scott Howson would want in return for his franchise player: a young ace goaltender. According to the Columbus Dispatch, every player on the Blue Jackets roster is available. They are not necessarily shopping Nash but would listen to offers. That was not the case earlier in Nash s career. Nash, 27, has a no-movement clause. The Blue Jackets believed they had their ace goalie in Steve Mason, who won the Calder Trophy as the NHL s top rookie in But the 23-yearold Mason has hit the skids big-time since his rookie season. This year, he is with a 3.49 goals-against average and an.884 save percentage. Tuukka Rask would fill Columbus s need for a No. 1 goalie with his best years to come. The Blue Jackets would insist on another young impact player, and perhaps a pick, and they would inquire about Milan Lucic. The Bruins would not consider such a trade. Tim Thomas has one year remaining on his contract and will be 38 April 15. Rask turns 25 March 10 and is entering the sweet spot of his career. A more likely trading partner would be Vancouver. Marblehead native Cory Schneider would be Columbus s target. The 25-year-old Schneider is with a 2.27 GAA and a.928 save percentage. Roberto Luongo is 32, with more tread remaining on his tires than Thomas. Cody Hodgson also could be part of such a package. No timetable Nathan Horton didn t travel to Montreal yesterday. He missed his eighth straight game last night because of the concussion he suffered Jan. 22. There is no timetable on his return. It is possible, although highly unlikely, that Horton could join the team later during the trip. The more likely scenario would be for him to resume off-ice workouts in Boston if he feels good enough... Chiarelli said he has been talking with all of the remaining UFAs-to-be: Chris Kelly, Gregory Campbell, Daniel Paille, Shawn Thornton, and Joe Corvo. In an ideal world, it would be nice to get stuff done before the trade deadline to know what you re going to plan for the future, Chiarelli said. If not, we ll look at it as the year progresses into the summer.... The Rangers blocked 22 shots. The Bruins blocked seven... Tyler Seguin led all players with seven shots. Boston Globe LOADED:
