1 Ontario San Antonio Rampage GAME PREVIEW: The Ontario Reign visit San Antonio for a Sunday afternoon showdown with the Silver and Black in the AT&T Center. Ontario is coming off a two-game series sweep of the Texas Stars back on Feb. 26 and 27, while San Antonio enters on an streak. San Antonio has converted 23.1% of their opportunities with the man advantage and look to get their 10 th ranked power play unit involved tonight. San Antonio have a tough task ahead of them as they face off against Peter Budaj, the AHL s top goaltender. RAMPAGE LEADERS: Mikko Rantanen leads the Rampage scorers, collecting a team-high 20 goals and 48 points, and is on the brink of setting multiple rookie franchise records. Maxim Noreau has registered 10 goals, and 28 assists, while leading the Rampage with seven power play goals. Joey Hishon sits third in scoring for the Silver and Black, tallying 13 goals and 22 assists in his 48 appearances. AGAINST THE REIGN: The Ontario Reign visit the Alamo City for the first time since their last meeting on Nov. 20, The Rampage have yet to drop a game in regulation to the Reign, who currently lead the Western Conference. San Antonio has posted a record against their new divisional foe, with the two wins coming in overtime on Halloween Weekend when Ben Street scored consecutive game-winners. A LOOK AT THE PACIFIC DIVISION: The Rampage remained in last place in the Pacific Division after their regulation loss to the Manitoba Moose on Friday. Since the Charlotte Checkers ( ,.536%) dropped below a.559 win percentage, the Pacific Division is not currently forfeiting their fourth playoff seed to the Central Division due to the AHL s crossover rule. To be safe, the Silver and Black are aiming for the third seed or better come playoff time. The Rampage have eight remaining contests against the Pacific Division this season, each holding significant value in a potential playoff push by the Silver and Black. RODEO ROUNDUP: After traveling more than 12,000 miles and completing 11 road contests, the San Antonio Rampage wrapped up their 2016 Rodeo Road Trip with a close loss to the Stockton Heat on Sunday evening. The Silver and Black collected nine points, and 27 goals on the trip, posting a record. The special teams unit tallied seven power play goals on 38 opportunities with the man advantage, while standing strong for 36 of the 47 power play chances for the opposition. TRADE DEADLINE: The Colorado Avalanche were active in the last days before the NHL trade deadline. Colorado acquired forward Taylor Beck from the New York Islanders in exchange for Marc-Andre Cliché, and added Shawn Matthias from the Toronto Maple Leafs in the Colin Smith trade. Beck spent last season with the Nashville Predators, and has made 46 appearances with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers this season. Since acquiring Beck, the Avalanche have reassigned the right winger to the San Antonio Rampage. Additionally, the Rampage have traded defenseman Hubert Labrie to the Chicago Wolves yesterday afternoon. REMARKABLE ROOKIE RANTANEN: Mikko Rantanen has been nothing short of phenomenal for the Rampage this season. The Rampage forward leads all rookies with 48 points, sits second in goals and is tied for the third most assists tallied by a rookie. At just 19-years-old, Rantanen is also on pace to shatter the Rampage s franchise records in goals, assists, and points tallied by a rookie. He trails Connor Brickley s 22 goals from last season by two goals, and sits two assists away from Chad Kolarik s 30 assists from the season. With Rantanen averaging 1.23 points per game, he is on pace to surpass Kolarik s 50 points from the season in 35 fewer games. DEFENSIVE IMPACT: Of the Rampage s 54 points this season, 40 of them have come when the Silver and Black have given up two or fewer goals. San Antonio has held their opponents to two or fewer goals 21 times this season, posting a record. In those 20 games the Rampage have outscored their opponents 71-29, averaging 3.38 goals per game. EXTRA TIME: In all three contests against the Reign this season, the San Antonio Rampage have finished the game in overtime. San Antonio has been on more of the winning side, collecting back-to-back wins earlier in the season.
