3 Summer 2017 REGISTRATION CONTENTS General Information Figure Skating Hockey Amenities FIGURE SKATING May 1 - Skating registration begins. Resident fee applies to Skokie and Morton Grove residents. (Non-resident figure skating fee is 15% higher than resident fees.). HOCKEY May 1 - Hockey registration begins. Residents of Skokie, as well as residents of Morton Grove, Lincolnwood and Golf (per park district reciprocal agreement) receive a 10% discount on all individual registrations. Registrations received by mail prior to starting date will be processed on second day of registration. The facility s Main Office accepts all program registration outlined in this brochure. The staff will be happy to answer any questions you may have and assist in your program registration, ice rental or any special needs. 3 WAYS TO REGISTER 1. Walk in 2. Mail to: 9300 Weber Park Place, Skokie, IL On Line at (Pre registration is required) PUBLIC SKATING FEES Children...$4.50 Adults...$5.50 Skate Rental...$3.00 ICE RENTAL The Skatium has prime ice time available for group skating needs Main Rink (85' X 200') Prime Time $335 per hour WEEKLY PUBLIC SKATING SCHEDULE June 16 thru August 20, 2017 Friday Evening... 7:30-8:30 pm Saturday Afternoon... 1:30-3:00 pm Sunday Afternoon... 1:45-3:15 pm Important: Registrants and participants permit the taking of photographs and videotapes of themselves and their children during Skokie Park District activities for publication use as the Park District deems appropriate. The Skokie Park District does not provide individual accident and health insurance. Children under the age of 12 visiting the facility or participating in Skatium Programs must be accompanied by an adult (18 years or older). Times of programs were accurate at time of printing. Rink management reserves the right to cancel or change program times. This program is published quarterly by the Skokie Park District for Skatium Ice Arena activities. 3
4 Figure Skating Registration Information June 21 to August 12 8 Weeks ICE SKATING CLASSES CAN BE PRORATED TO ACCOMMODATE SUMMER VACATIONS! (Please contact ice arena for more information regarding pro-rating of summer classes. Prorating must take place at the time of registration. Sorry, no exceptions.) People living in the communities of Skokie and Morton Grove are considered residents. Non-residents are charged 15% more. Registration will begin May 1. Payment and Class Info: Please make checks payable to the Skokie Park District. Refunds will not be given after the 3rd class. There will be a $10 service charge for all refunds. Student/teacher ratio for Snowplow Sam & Tot classes is 10 students per 1 instructor. Ratio for Basic 1 and up classes is 16 students per 1 instructor. The Skatium will be registering most skaters with the USFS program. Special Figure Skating Offer! Sign up a single skater for two of the same classes on different days and receive 50 % off the second class (must be a main curriculum class, Snowplow Sam, Tots or Free Skate Class). This offer is only valid prior to the start of the first day of classes. Skate Rental $2.50 per pair, per week 4

8 Summer Hockey Programs The Skokie Park District Hockey Program is divided into Instructional Classes and Leagues. Instructional Classes are broken into 3 divisions. The first division is the Future Flyers program for those who have yet to play organized hockey. The second division of classes is for the League players already on a team. The third division is the Adult Instructional Program. All classes are designed to improve your base of knowledge & skill. We offer our programs to all ages & abilities. For league play, we offer an Adult Recreational Summer League which is for Adult Novice players or it has been awhile since you last played and is an individual player sign up program. We hope you enjoy your hockey experience in Skokie. We look forward to seeing you in a class or league soon. Resident Discounted Fees Residents of Skokie, as well as residents of Morton Grove, Lincolnwood and Golf (per park district reciprocal agreement) receive a 10% discount on all individual registrations. Refund Policy Unless otherwise noted, prorated refunds -$5 service charge can be requested through the first three weeks of the program. Refund requests will not be honored after the third week of the class, clinic or league. A full refund -$5 service charge can be requested before the program begins. Refunds will not be honored in league play if player has been suspended by an official s call. 8
9 FUTURE FLYERS INSTRUCTIONAL HOCKEY PROGRAM For players who want to join a team in our Flyers House League program, however have little or no hockey or skating experience. The following classes teach your child the skills needed to enter our Flyers House League Program. This program takes the beginning skater from standing on skates to the execution of basic forward, backward skating skills. Protective equipment required for this class is provided as part of this class. This includes helmet with facemask, elbow pads, shin guards and hockey gloves. Skate Rental is available for $3 per class. Save! Have your own complete set of the required equipment needed for the class and receive a discounted fee! Save! Purchase a Premier Skate Rental Card at the time of registration good for minimum of eight rentals and receive Rental Skates for only $2.50 per class. For 3-6 year old classes only - one parent per child is invited to accompany their child on the ice during the class. Parents must have their own skates. Please arrive 20 minutes prior to the start of your ice session to put on equipment. FUTURE FLYERS Hockey Class All classes are 30 minutes. The summer session is ten weeks. This class will cover further skating instruction, as well as basic hockey skills with the puck, including stickhandling, passing and shooting. Players must wear full equipment for this class and provide their own equipment. Each class is one hour - ten weeks. Enrollment is limited. 10 more SUMMER HOCKEY PROGRAMS Power Skating Clinic This clinic covers the most important skill of the sport. Participants will be challenged to improve their speed, control their edges, backwards agility, stops, starts, crossovers, pivots and improvement of the overall stride. This clinic is designed for a player with team experience. Full equipment is required. Each class is 1 hour - ten weeks. Enrollment is limited. Program # Day Time Dates Fee Ages Sunday 10:10-11:10 am 6/18-8/20 $200 Ages Sunday 11:20-12:20 am 6/18-8/20 $200 Sunday Morning Youth Rat Time For Mites, Squirts & Pee Wee Players Start your Sunday out with a good skate and workout with this new program. A supervisor will be on the ice and divide the teams up equally each session and supervise the scrimmage making this an enjoyable experience for all participants. Drop the puck and have some fun! Full equipment is required. There is no preregistration. It is a walk-up and pay program limited to the first 30 skaters per session based on a first come, first serve basis. Goalies are free and limited to 4 goalies. This is one of our more popular summer programs. Arrive early! 11 Adult Hockey Classes Our Summer Adult Hockey Class is held on our main rink. This class is at a combined Novice/Intermediate Level and participants must have the basic skating skills. It s a co-ed class for participants 16 years of age and older. Class is one hour ten weeks. Enrollment is limited and full equipment is required. Program # Levels Day Novice/Intermediate Tuesday Time Dates Fee 9:10-10:10 pm 6/13-8/15 $220 Teen/Adult Open Hockey For Teens/Adults 16 years of age and older. This is one of our more popular summer programs. Arrive early. There is no pre-registration. It is a walk-up and pay program limited to the first 30 players. Ages Day Time Dates Fee 16 and older Wednesday 8:30-10:00 pm 6/14-8/16 $15 Adult Recreational Hockey League Our Adult Recreational League is for individual players 18 years of age and older. The league will play ten games, plus single-elimination playoffs. League play will begin the week of June 19th and run through August 27th. Game nights will be mostly Sundays, however some games may be played on weekday evenings. New players who did not play in our league Fall/Winter or Spring must be registered with USA Hockey (additional fee to USA Hockey required). Program # Ages Day Time Dates Fee and older Sunday To Be Announced 6/19-8/27 $242 Summerstars Hockey Camp A separate camp brochure is available upon request. Nine hours of ice time instruction and fun offered each week. Other activities offered a s part of the camp experience includes golf, swimming, bowling, basketball, inline hockey, outdoor games and much more. Lunch is available for purchase. Weber Park Cafe The Weber Park Cafe is located in the Skatium Ice Arena at the Weber Leisure Center. It features short order service, hot dogs, hamburgers, pretzels, pizza, ice cream and more. Weber Park Cafe can also help cater the perfect party Coin Operated Lockers Coin operated lockers are available to secure your personal belongings.
