2 Research activities Projects handled as PI 1. All India coordinated research project on Vegetable Crops 1. Collection, evaluation and maintenance of Germplasm of cucumber, capsicum, tomato, peas, cabbage and cauliflower (late group). 2. To evaluate promising varieties of those vegetables which have commercial importance in H.P. such as pea, beans, cucumber, capsicum, tomato, carrot (European type) and garlic. 3. To evaluate promising hybrids of commercially important vegetables in H.P. 4. Breeding for disease resistance in cauliflower (black rot and stalk rot), tomato (fruit rot) bell pepper (fruit rot) and peas (powdery mildew) 5. Chemical control measures of various diseases in tomato, peas, cauliflower, cabbage and bell pepper. 2. All India Coordinated Research Project on Spice crops 1. To collect, evaluate, characterize and conserve germplasm of spice crops especially ginger, Turmeric, Coriander and Fenugreek. 2. To evolve effective control measures for the control of rhizome rot of ginger and, 3. To analyze the germplasm, experimental materials and samples received from other coordinating centres for quality attributes. 3. Dissemination of production technology of off-season vegetable crops to the farmers of Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh amounting to Rs. 24,83,200/- funded by the National Horticulture Technology Mission MM-I (Phase-III) 1. To popularize high yielding varieties /F1 hybrids of different vegetable crops among small and marginal farmers of the district spread over 6 developmental blocks. 2. To impart exhaustive practical training on improved production technology of offseason and exotic vegetables to the farmers in groups keeping in view the agro climatic conditions of the area. 3. To develop technical literature including books on production technology of different off-season vegetables, seed production and exotic vegetables.
