7 LEADVILLE TRAIL 100 RUN QUALIFIER EXPLANATION The Austin Rattler Run provides 25 qualifying slots to the Leadville Trail 100 Run based on the total number of registered riders at each qualifier event. Half of the qualifying spots will be allocated based on the top age-group performances and half will be drawn among riders who have finished the qualifier race within the allocated cutoff time (11 hours). AUSTIN RATTLER RUN IS ALLOCATED 25 SLOTS BASED ON TOTAL REGISTRANTS 20 slots will be distributed based on performance at the Austin Rattler Run. Slots will be distributed to each gender and age group (20-29, 30-39, etc.) based on the percentage of total athletes in those age groups, with a minimum of one slot for every age group. The top athletes in each age group will receive the allocated slots. In the event a top athlete elects not to accept a slot, the slot will roll down to the next athlete in the results, within the age group. In the event slots are not claimed after the roll down in each age group, those slots will be allocated to the event lottery, as described below. 5 SLOTS WILL BE DISTRIBUTED THROUGH THE LOTTERY All finishers under the pre-determined maximum finish time, who have indicated their desire to participate in the lottery, will be entered in the lottery when they put the lottery tab from their race bib into the post-race drawing. Names will be drawn from the eligible lottery athletes and slots will be given out. In the event an athlete opts not to accept a slot, the slots will roll down to the next athlete that is drawn, until ALL slots have been distributed. QUALIFICATION SLOTS MUST BE CLAIMED IN PERSON IMMEDIATELY. Registration for the LT100 Run must be completed and paid for within the allotted timeframe (you'll get the details when you claim your spot). For the 2018 Qualifiers, runners may elect to race in the LT100 Run for 2018 or defer until Through the registration process, runners will be asked to select the year they prefer to race. ONLY SOLO 66K RUNNERS WILL BE CONSIDERED POTENTIAL QUALIFIERS. 33K and 10K runners are welcome to race but will not be eligible for a LT100 Run slot. ALL LT100 RUN REGISTRATION FEES ARE NON-TRANSFERABLE AND NON- REFUNDABLE. You heard the man.
8 IMPORTANT INFO AND RULES You MUST HAVE your ID to pick up your packet. You CANNOT pick up a packet for your friends. You MUST HAVE your race bib visible on the front of your body through the race. Please DO NOT FOLD YOUR BIB! 66K runners will start at 6 a.m. and 33K/10K runners will begin at 9 a.m. in the start/finish area of the Rocky Hill Ranch on Sunday, April 1. To qualify and be eligible for the LT100 Run lottery, 66K racers must complete both laps of the Austin Rattler in 11 hours or less. Awards will be distributed as runners cross the finish line. Unsportsmanlike conduct and littering is grounds for disqualification. Abandonment: no garbage, clothing, etc., shall be thrown on the course or surrounding areas. DNFs must be reported to timing, preferably at the start/finish line or nearest aid station. No pets on course or at start/finish area. Please pick up your trash! THANK YOU VOLUNTEERS! Intentional littering on the course will be grounds for disqualification. The course travels through areas of exceptional beauty. Help us keep them pristine!
9 LEAVE NO TRACE PRINCIPALS PLAN AHEAD AND PREPARE Know the regulations and special concerns for the area you ll visit. Prepare for extreme weather, hazards and emergencies. TRAVEL AND CAMP ON DURABLE SURFACES Durable surfaces include established trails and campsites, rock, gravel or dry grasses. Good campsites are found, not made. Altering a site is not necessary. DISPOSE OF WASTE PROPERLY Pack it in, pack it out. Deposit solid human waste in catholes dug six to eight inches deep at least 200 feet from water, camp and trails. Cover and disguise the cathole when finished. LEAVE WHAT YOU FIND Preserve the past: examine, but do not touch, cultural or historic structures and artifacts. Leave rocks, plants and other natural objects as you find them. MINIMIZE CAMPFIRE IMPACTS Campfires can cause lasting impacts to the backcountry. Use a lightweight stove for cooking and enjoy a candle lantern for light. Where fires are permitted, use established fire rings, fire pans or mound fires. RESPECT WILDLIFE Observe wildlife from a distance. Do not follow or approach them. Never feed animals. Feeding wildlife damages their health, alters natural behaviors and exposes them to predators and other dangers. BE CONSIDERATE OF OTHER VISITORS Please be courteous and respect other visitors. Be aware of others on the trail and yield as indicated.

13 RACE SPONSORS We thank the following sponsors for making the Austin Rattler Run possible. Whether local or national, we ask our participants and fans to look to these sponsors first for the services or products they provide. We truly could not host these amazing events without them! MEET OUR NEWEST SPONSOR: LA SPORTIVA Mission Our mission is to bring you the best technical products to explore the outdoors. For 89 years we have been producing innovative products and we are looking forward to the next 80 years. Produced and designed in a small mountain town at the foot of the Dolomites, La Sportiva supports 140 families in a unique and enviable environment. Everyday the mountains surround the people who handcraft our products. Being mountain based and family run allows us to draw on eight decades of experience handed down through the generations. With this heritage we can focus on the future and meld new technologies, ideas and innovation with our rich knowledge of manufacturing to give you the most amazing products on the market. Products that let you go where you dream to go, do what you dream to do and live how you want to live. History La Sportiva Italy possesses a strong passion for the mountains and the environment this is why there is always a consciousness of what kind of impact the factory has on the outdoor world. By using a proactive approach to business La Sportiva Italy can critically check existing processes as well as do extensive research to develop ways of reducing negative impacts and creating the best possible product for its consumers. La Sportiva owns and operates its own state-of-the-art factory in Italy. This small, 250 person, factory is truly an anomaly in today's footwear world characterized by hyper-competitiveness and extreme pricing pressures which have lead most modern outdoor footwear companies to the solution of outsourced production contractors. Our factory is located in Ziano di Fiemme, a small mountain village in the heart of the Italian Dolomites. The tradition and heritage of handmade footwear lives on in this magical alpine valley existing in the shadows of jagged limestone peaks and glaciated valleys where alpine masters such as Bonatti and Messner plied their craft.
