2 ED 1 Bounded on the East by the Parish of Glenmuick; on the South by the Parishes of Glenmuick & Kirkmichael; on the West by the Old Parish of Braemar; and on the North by the River Dee the population is almost exclusively confined to Strath Gurnock, & the vale of the Dee -- The greater part of the District is wild and uncultivated. The surface is very irregular, swelling up, in someplace into hills of considerable height Along the Dee, on the North, are extensive woods of Birch & Fir, the remains of the ancient Forest of Marr.
