It was almost inevitable that boats would be at the heart of my working life and I m proud to have seen DALE Motor Yachts grow from a small village business to the internationally renowned custom boat building company of today. Whether exploring a river or helming across an open sea, there is nowhere I would rather be than on the water, and I have always borne immense satisfaction from being aboard a boat that is perfectly suited to its environment. If this strikes a chord, I m sure you can imagine what a dream it was for DALE to team up with T.T. Boat Designs to become builders of a Nelson one of the true greats and a craft with an unrivalled heritage of sea-keeping. Anyone who understands the sheer depths of the ability of a Nelson design will appreciate it deserves nothing but the most dependable build and superlative standards of finish. There was no option but to set perfection as our goal. The DALE Nelson 38 was born with a passion for craftsmanship and a total dedication to achieving the finest quality. Over two decades later, continuous advances in marine electronics and engineering allow us to continually move forward with an ideal balance of tradition and technology a philosophy that was gloriously captured with our Classic 45 in 2004, and taken in two new directions in 2010 with the introduction of the DALE 23 high speed launch and DALE Corby 36 high performance sailing yacht from the drawing board of John Corby. And nowhere does that determination-to-be-the-best become more valuable than on our bespoke builds where the challenges of individual requirements have to be met every day by some of the most talented artisans and technicians I have ever met. From moulding the hull to applying the name, a DALE is entirely created by our own craftsmen. Every installation is meticulously engineered. There is no compromise. Every stage of the build is monitored to the most exacting standards to give you the dependability that inspires the confidence to venture far offshore. As you stop to take it all in, you begin to wonder at the quality joinery that is exquisitely fitted, every corner hewn from solid wood, every line and every curve kind to the eye, leather hide stitched to perfection......open a cabinet, look inside a locker everywhere your eye lands, you witness the exemplary craftsmanship of the DALE shipwrights. Examine a little more closely and you notice that the engine room is where luxury meets top spec. Business-like features abound: kind-to-the-knees rubber matting in place of harsh checker plate, comprehensive labelling of all through-hull fittings, hull sides and stringers that are completely sound proofed, fuel tanks that run the length of the keel so they add stability... Topsides, you revel in the gloss of the hull, and as you note the width of the decks and the number of hand rails, it brings the realisation that the entire boat, from the hull profile to the positioning of the cleats, has been honed by experience of the sea. Even on production models, engines, electronics and an individually designed interior layout will be tailored to suit whatever cruising plans you have in mind.
