2 1 ORGANIZING AUTHORITY The Barcelona ORC World Championship 2015 is organized by the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona (RCNB) with the cooperation of the Real Federación Española de Vela (RFEV) under the authorities of the Offshore Racing Congress (ORC) and the International Sailing Federation (ISAF). The Barcelona ORC World Championship 2015 will be conducted with the collaboration of the Federació Catalana de Vela (FCV). 2 RULES 2.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing. 2.2 The following rules will also apply: a) IMS Rule b) ORC Rating Systems Rule c) ORC Championship Rules d) ISAF Offshore Special Regulations for Category 3 races 2.3 No national authority prescription will apply. 2.4 The official language of the regatta will be English. 3 ADVERTISING The ISAF Advertising Code will apply. Advertising for Competitors & Boats will be without restriction. Event Advertising by the Organizing Authority will be: - bow numbers with an advertisement shall be displayed as forward as possible on the both sides of the first 20% of the hull - an advertisement shall be displayed on both sides of the foremost 20% of the mainsail boom - a sponsor s flag that has to be flown on the backstay throughout the entire event. The Organizing Authority may also require the installation, at no cost to competitors, of on board video cameras, position devices, and guest riders whose on-board position restrictions are defined in the Sailing Instructions. 4 ELIGIBILITY & PRE- ENTRIES 4.1 The regatta is open to all boats with valid ORC International certificate with CDL (Class Division Length) between and Participating boats are divided into Classes according to the CDL: Class A: Class B: Class C: 17,00 m CDL > 11,60 m 11,60 m CDL > 9,70 m 9,70 m CDL 8,50 m Each class will have a separate start and separate results.

3 4.2 The Pre-Entry must be made through the event s official website: The Pre-Entry form must be fully completed. The Pre-Entry Fee will be as follows: 4.3 The maximum number of entries will be 120. Additionally the Organizing Authority reserves twenty (20) entries to be granted by Wild Card. 4.4 The Pre -Entry closing date is 15 th May 2015 at hours. 4.5 If in one or two classes there is less than 10 (Ten) registered yachts, the OA may add these boats to another class in order to provide a satisfactory regatta. 4.6 Due to the limitation on the number of entries for the Barcelona ORC World Championship 2015, the following will be considered in addition with the information requested in the Pre- Entry and registration process: The Yacht s and skipper s racing record, particularly in previous ORC Championships The chronological order of received Pre-Entries. If there are more than 120 entries in total or more than 40 entries in any one of the classes received by the Pre-Entry closing date, the Organizing Authority will in agreement with ORC make selection of the entries at its sole discretion. No additional Pre-Entries will be allowed after the initial entry closing date, but any Pre- Entries cancelled or not confirmed can be replaced from the waiting list the OA will create for those not accepted at the initial entry closing date. Entry fees paid by boats not accepted will be refunded. The Organizing Authority is not responsible for any other costs incurred by the non-acceptance of a boat to this event. 4.7 The Organizing Authority will confirm the Pre-Entry form has been received by sending an e- mail to the owner or his Representative. Each Pre-entry will be added to the event website and indicated as provisional. 4.8 Starting on the 15th of May 2015, the Organizing Authority will confirm the entries for the Barcelona ORC World Championship 2015 by publishing the Official Entry List on the event s website. Especially for the non Spanish teams the Organizing Authority can confirm the entries from 15 th February 2015 sending a direct confirmation to the owner or his Representative. 4.9 Competitors must comply with the ISAF Eligibility Code Competitors of Spanish nationality or Spanish residence shall be in possession of the Sailing Federation License for 2015.

4 4.11 Foreign sailors who do not have a sailing federation license or an athlete s medical insurance with accident coverage will have to prove the possession of an accident and illness insurance valid for the OA in Spain during the time of the Regatta. 5 CORINTHIAN DIVISION AND TROPHY For the Corinthian Division and Trophy the ISAF Sailor Classification Code, Regulation 22 shall apply and all crew shall hold a valid Group 1 classification. Unclassified sailors will be deemed to be Group 3. A boat entered in the Corinthian Division shall also be entered automatically in the General Division and shall be eligible for prizes and trophies in both divisions. Details of the ISAF Sailor Classification Code and information on how to apply can be found on the ISAF website: The closing date for the receipt of valid Corinthian entries shall be 15th June Each entry shall include a complete crew list and show the classification and ISAF Sailor ID for each crew. All crew shall hold valid classifications prior to this date that do not expire until after the final day of the regatta. Late entries and incomplete entries cannot be considered for this division. Should a boat whose Corinthian entry has been checked and accepted need to change a crew member between the closing date of the entry and the start of the regatta, the name of the new crew member with their valid ISAF Sailor ID must be submitted to the Organizing Authority for their approval [and for the approval of the International Jury]. All crew lists will be posted on the Official Notice Board or website as soon as possible after the Registration deadline. Note: A representative of the ISAF Sailor Classification Commission will be present during registration and will carry out spot checks. Competitors shall attend interviews with the Commission when requested to do so. Competitors are reminded that the Commission has the power to change a classification at the event with no prior notice. Any changes are effective immediately. 6 REGISTRATION OF THE BOATS PUBLISHED IN THE OFFICIAL ENTRY LIST 6.1 The Registration Form shall be completed after 15 th May 2015 through the event s official website at The Registration Form shall be accompanied by the following documents before the deadline of 27 th June 2015 at 20:00 hours: a) Valid ORC International certificate issued before 22nd June 2015 b) Valid third-party insurance and receipt of its payment with a minimum coverage of ,00. c) If advertising is displayed, permission of the entry s respective National Authority. d) Crew list with name, surname, national sailing licence number or copy of accident and illness insurance valid in Spain during the time of the Regatta, photocopy of a passport or Spanish ID card and weight for each crew member. e) In addition, and only for boats interested to be eligible for the Corinthian Trophy: confirmation before hours of 15 th June 2015 of ISAF Sailors Classification Code Group 1 for each crew member. f) Name, phone number and address of primary contact for each entry before and during the event. g) Liability acceptance form, duly filled out and signed.

5 6.2 No changes shall be made on ORC International certificates after 22 nd June 2015 unless prescribed by the Measurement Committee and International Jury s approval. This changes RRS Measurement protests by boats shall be accepted up to two hours after the posting of the final ratings. 6.4 The final crew list will be published as soon as possible after hours on June 27 th Substitution of competitors after hours on June 27 nd 2015 will not be allowed without prior written approval of the International Jury that can delegate this to the Race Committee. This request must be lodged at the Race Office before hours of the day of the crew change. 6.5 Protests by boats regarding ISAF Sailors Classification Code shall be accepted up to 20:00 hours on 29 th June If the registration process is not completed by 20:00 hours June 27 nd 2015, the entry will be cancelled and fees will not be returned Each Owner or his representative must personally sign the Register form in the Race Office located in RCNB s Race Office from 25 th June 2015 at hours until 28 th June 2015 at 20:00 hours. 7 SCHEDULE 7.1 Saturday, 27 th June 09:00 20:00 Registration and measurement Sunday, 28 th June 09:00 20:00 Registration and measurement 15:00 Practice Race Monday, 29 th June 10:00 Skipper s meeting 12:00 First warning signal inshore races Tuesday, 30 th June 12:00 First warning signal inshore races Wednesday, 1 st July 12:00 First warning signal offshore race Thursday, 2 nd July Offshore race continued Friday, 3 rd July 12:00 First warning signal inshore races Saturday, 4 th July 12:00 First warning signal inshore races TBA Prize giving On Saturday, July 4th, 2015, no warning signal will be given after 15:00, except for a previous General Recall. 7.2 Nine (9) races are scheduled, all of them will have the same scoring coefficient of 1.0 divided as follows: - offshore race scored as two (2) races: the first score will be from the start to a control point approximately mid-course and the second score will be from the start to the final finish. - seven (7) inshore (windward/leeward) races 7.3 The championship is valid if at least four (4) inshore races and one (1) offshore race or at least three (3) inshore races and two (2) offshore races are completed.

6 7.4 One discard will be allowed if seven (7) races are completed. One (1) offshore race may be discarded only if both offshore races are completed. 8 MEASURAMENT Each boat shall be available for measurement inspection from 09:00 on 27 th June 2015 until 28 th June Measurement and rules compliance inspections will be carried out throughout the championship before or after each race with emphasis on boats well-placed in the scoring. The inspection will also include freeboards whenever possible. 9 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS Sailing Instructions will be available for each entrant at completion of the registration formalities. 10 SAFETY 10.1 This regatta requires Category 3 without life raft as defined in the ISAF Offshore Special Regulations It is mandatory for all the participating boats to use their own engines to proceed through Barcelona Port Waters The boat s Owner or his/their representative/s would be responsible for ensuring that their boat complies with the general legal rules for leisure boats and especially for its handing, dispatch and safety. 11 SCORING 11.1 Windward/leeward race results will be determined by corrected times calculated by Performance Curve Scoring The Offshore race scoring method will be indicated in the Sailing Instructions The Low Point Scoring System of RRS Appendix A will apply. 12 INTERNACIONAL JURY An International Jury appointed according to the RRS Appendix N will supervise the event with no right of appeal according to the RRS NAUTICAL CHARTS The following nautical charts of the Instituto Hidrografico de la Marina are utilized as a reference in the Sailing Instructions: 488 Barcelona - Vilanova (for offshore race) 489 A "Aproches del Puerto de Barcelona" (for windward/leeward races) 489 Barcelona - Arenys de Mar (for offshore race) 14 MOORINGS 14.1 All boats entered in the event will be provided with a reserved berth at RCNB between the dates June 20th and July 7th Berths will be free of charge during these dates and will be taken under the entire responsibility of the Owner or the Skipper of each participating boat Any request for extra mooring days, if available, shall be directed to the RCNB s office - info@rcnb.com or and this will be at the owner s or skipper s expense. Early booking is recommended.

7 15 MEDIA RIGHTS AND IMAGE RIGHTS 15.1 The image rights of the Regatta, the logo of the Barcelona ORC World Championship 2015 and the RCNB s pennant logo belong to RCNB. Any advertisement action or use of these graphics or images without express permission of the RCNB is prohibited Competitors, owners and their guests give absolute right and permission to the Organizing Authority for any photography and video footage taken of persons and boats during the event, to be published and/or broadcast in any media, including but not limited to TV advertisements, whatsoever for either editorial or advertising purposes or to be used in press information. 16. SOCIAL EVENTS The Social Program during the regatta days will be posted on the website of the event and on the Official Notice Board. 17 COMMUNICATION Except when communicating with the Race Committee, a boat while racing shall not transmit or receive communications containing any information not publicly available to all boats participating. 18 TROPHIES AND PRIZES There will be a Trophy for the World Champion in each class. There will be prizes for the boats classified 2nd and 3rd in each class. There will be a prize for the Corinthian Division World Champion in each class. The Organization may also give additional prizes. The complete list of Trophies and prizes will be posted on the ONB before the start of the races. 19 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY All those taking part in the regatta do so at their own risk and responsibility. The Organizing Authority, Real Club Nautico de Barcelona, Real Federación Espanola de Vela, ORC and any other party involved in the organization of the Barcelona ORC World Championship 2015 disclaim any and all responsibility whatsoever for loss, damage injury or inconvenience that might occur to persons and materials, both ashore and at sea as a consequence of participation in the event. Each boat owner or his representative accepts these terms by signing entry form. The attention of competitors is drawn to ISAF Part 1 Fundamental Rule 4: A boat is solely responsible for deciding whether or not to start or to continue racing. 20 INSURANCE Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party insurance with a minimum cover of per event. Regardless, it is the responsibility of the owners to hold adequate insurance cover for Tort Liability and Third Party Insurance (Property and Persons).
