You ll learn how to apply command navigation procedures on vessels limited by tonnage or near coastal operations, comply with environmental legislation, report vessel damage, maintain a safe navigational watch and vessel stability. You ll also learn about providing onboard medical care and the observation of personal safety and social responsibility. FOR YOUR START IN A GENERALIST TRADE IN MARITIME MAR40613 Certificate IV in Maritime Operations (Master up to 35 metres near coastal) If you re new to the maritime industry and eager to launch a career on the waves, the Certificate IV in Maritime Operations (Master up to 35 metres near coastal) is for you. You ll learn about responsibility for machinery onboard a vessel, how to service marine internal combustion engines, propulsion and auxiliary systems and how to maintain and operate electrical equipment. Safety also forms a big component of this course, where you ll also learn about marine safety and survival, first aid and extinguishing fires. I chose to study at the Northern Beaches (TAFE) Campus because it s a convenient location for me and I have friends who have also studied here who are now working in the marine field. I would definitely recommend the Northern Beaches Campus to anyone I know.
