4 PRT Instructions which apply to all races run by the Royal Yacht Club of Victoria.1 Rules ll races shall be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing, as amended, the Prescriptions and Safety Regulations of Y and YV, the relevant Handicapping Rules and the PoMC Regulations, all as modified by these instructions..2 Responsibility ll yachts taking part in races conducted by RYCV do so at their own risk and responsibility. Unless otherwise stated, races shall be conducted under Category 6 of the Y Special Regulations. The RYCV is not responsible for the seaworthiness of a yacht whose entry is accepted or the sufficiency or adequacy of its equipment. ttention is drawn to ISF Rule 4. The responsibility for a boat s decision to participate in a race or to continue racing is hers alone..3 Safety equipment compliance oats shall have a valid SECD form lodged with the club office at least two hours prior to the start of a race. oats not having a valid SECD lodged shall be scored DSQ. This alters the RRS Scoring ppendix..4 Postponement & abandonment ll signals shall be in accordance with the Racing Rules of Sailing. The Race Committee may, at its discretion, display signals from the RYCV club mast, and the signal masts of other clubs as appropriate..5 Protests (a) Protests shall be notified to a race official of the Royal Yacht Club of Victoria within two hours of the protesting yacht s finishing time and lodged in writing, on the prescribed form, by 1200 hours on the Monday following the race. (For midweek races this shall be by 1200 hours on the following day.) deposit of twenty-five dollars shall accompany all protests. (b) ll Protests shall be strictly in accordance with Racing Rule 61. Protests will be heard at the clubhouse, 120 Nelson Place, Williamstown, at 1930 hours on the Thursday following the race, unless otherwise notified. Protest notices shall be posted on the race notice board located in the Royal Yacht Club of Victoria foyer..6 Race results Results will be advised promptly. Results will be posted on the results notice board at the Royal Yacht Club of Victoria. Results will also be posted on the internet at Handicaps The Royal Yacht Club of Victoria reserves the right to alter or adjust the handicap of any yacht entered in races it is conducting..8 Life-jacket rule RRS 40 shall only apply to yachts without lifelines..9 Shipping (a) Skippers shall at all times abide by the PoMC Regulations covering the navigation of small craft and yachts. 5 PRT Instructions which apply to all club courses and club laid courses.1 Committee vessel (a) The committee vessel will fly an orange flag when on station at the start, and a blue flag when on station at the finish. Other signals will be displayed on it as provided in these instructions. (b) ll times and procedures shall be taken from visual signals and any failure or mistiming of the sound signals shall be disregarded..2 Starting line The starting line shall be an imaginary line between the signal mast of the committee vessel and the starting mark. crowding buoy (orange cylindrical buoy with black band) may be laid between the committee vessel and the starting mark..3 Starting line locations (a) Club courses To the west of No76 Port of Melbourne Channel Pile. Times shall be taken from the visual signals; the failure of a sound signal shall be disregarded. Yachts shall pass between the starting mark and the crowding bouy (when liad) to start. Yachts failing to start within 10 minutes of the starting signal shall be scored DNS. fter the preparatory signal and before correctly starting: (a) ny boat passing from the prestart side of the starting line to the course side of the starting line between the crowding buoy and the committee vessel shall return to the prestart side of the starting line by passing on the course side of and round the committee vessel. 7 .8 Courses Courses shall be signalled by the display (at the preparatory signal of the class) of the international numeral pennants corresponding to the course listed in these instructions. The finish line location shall be designated by the display of the international code flag corresponding to descriptions in part.9 of these instructions. Start lines shall be in located accordance with the instructions in section.3 of these instructions..9 Finishing lines (a) Club courses (i) oat finish (international code flag W ) The finish line shall be an imaginary line between the aft signal mast of the committee vessel and an orange cylindrical mark. The finish shall be located to the west of the Port Melbourne Channel. (ii) Marina finish (international code flag 0 ) The finish line shall be an imaginary line between the flag mast on the northern end of the RYCV marina and Mark 0. (b) Laid courses The finishing line shall be an imaginary line between the aft signal mast of the committee vessel and an orange cylindrical buoy situated approximately to windward of Mark. The final windward leg shall be approximately 0.1 miles longer than the previous weather leg..10 Finishing procedures t the exact moment when any part of the leading yacht s hull, crew or equipment in its normal position crosses the finishing line, a sound signal will be made..11 Time limit (a) The time limit for all races 4 hours unless otherwise specified. (b) Times shall cease to be taken 90 minutes (unless otherwise specified) after the finish of the first yacht of a class or division or at the expiration of the time limit, whichever is the later and yachts which have not finished may be scored DNF. (c) ny yacht that has not crossed the finishing line by the published time of sunset of the race day shall be scored DNF. This instruction shall over-ride the provision of Parts (a) and (b) of this paragraph.
