1 2017 Santana 20 Class Championship Regatta August 7 10, 2017 Dillon Reservoir, Colorado Hosted by Santana 20 Fleet 28 and the Dillon Yacht Club The Dillon Yacht Club is the Organizing Authority for this Event 1. Rules and Officials The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) and the Bylaws of the Santana 20 Class Association. 2. Eligibility and Entry 3. Fees Registered Santana 20 yachts helmed by regular or associate members of the Santana 20 Class Association are eligible to enter the Class Championship Regatta. Eligible boats may enter online at S2017.org. The regular entry period ends July 1, Late entries will be accepted after this date subject to limitations discussed under Fees. The entry fee is $150. There will be a $20 discount if paid by July 1. If entered by the July 1 deadline it includes 3 regatta t-shirts. If entered late it does NOT include t-shirts. No additional shirts will be available at the event. If there is demand, more may be ordered from the printer at whatever cost the quantity demands.

2 4. Schedule Monday, August 7th 8:00 AM 11:30 AM Hull/rig measurement in the marina parking lot and Check-in and sail measurement at the DYC Tent. Noon - Competitors meeting for practice racing at the DYC Tent. 1:00 PM Practice starts and races. TBD Barbeque and Video debrief of practice racing by Andrew Kerr. Tuesday, August 8th 9:30 AM 11:30 AM - Local knowledge/weather presentation at the DYC Tent. Noon Competitors meeting at the DYC Tent. Wednesday, August 9th 9:30 AM 11:30 AM - TBD Thursday, August 10th 9:30 AM 11:30 AM Class Annual General Meeting at the DYC Tent. 6:00 PM Banquet and award presentation.

Measurement All Santana 20 yachts wishing to participate must present a valid Measurement Certificate, have one each of the four required sails measured and stamped; and have the Measurement Checklist completed at the event and prior to the first race. Boats from Fleets 19 or 28 must be measured and inspected prior to arrival. Other boats will be measured Monday morning. Boats intending to participate in the Dillon Open and requiring measurement should make arrangements with Mike McKeever, s20f28@gmail.com, to be measured and weighed in Denver or at Dillon during the preceding week. 7. Sailing Instructions Official Sailing Instructions will be presented at check in. 8. Venue Racing will take place on Dillon Reservoir, Colorado. The Dillon Yacht Club facilities are located at the east end of the Dillon Marina grounds. 9. Courses The courses be windward-leeward and marks shall be rounded to port. A map of Dillon Reservoir with approximate locations of marks will be included with the Sailing Instructions. Courses will be posted on the committee boat for each race. 10. Scoring Low-point scoring will be used as defined by the RRS except that there will be no discards; DNS, DNF & RET will be scored starters + 1 and DSQ will be scored starters + 2. One completed race will constitute a regatta 11. Haul-out Restrictions Boats must remain in the water between the first and last races of the series unless the class measurer approves hauling for repair purposes. Slips will be arranged at check-in.

4 12. Radio Communication The RC will use channel 69 to communicate and may attempt to give competitors information concerning starting sequences, schedules and safety. Failure to hear any RC transmission will not be grounds for redress. 13. Prizes The winning boat will be awarded the Santana 20 Class Association Class Championship Perpetual Trophy. Every participant, skipper and crew, will receive a photographic participation award. Those teams finishing in the top third of the series will receive photographs that will include their finish position. 14. Disclaimer of Liability Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage, personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta. 15. Further Information This event immediately follows the 2017 Dillon Open, which is scheduled to take place Friday thru Sunday, August 4 th 6 th. Santana 20s will certainly fleet and have their own start in the Dillon Open. For more info see DillonOpen.com or DillonYachtClub.com Situated at 9017 the Dillon YC is the Nation s Highest YC. It is approximately 70 miles west of Denver CO just off I-70 Exit 205. High mountain sailing is a unique experience with variable winds and weather throughout the day. Competitors are urged to bring adequate foul weather gear as well as lots of high SPF sunscreen, quality sunglasses and protective hats The Town of Dillon and surrounding communities of Silverthorn and Frisco offer a variety of lodging options. In addition there are several campgrounds around the lake and in the vicinity that are available. Reservations for the campgrounds must be made in advance through the US Forest Service. Ramp launching is encouraged and trailer storage will be available. Visiting teams that need to use the crane may do so as long as there is a DYC member available to operate it.

5 Courtesy slips are available close to the launch ramp. Reserved slips may be arranged for a fee through the Dillon marina. Recent variable wind patterns on Dillon have made it necessary to occasionally run racing later in the day. Be prepared to race at any time between 1:00pm and sundown. The RC will postpone ashore, as required, using signals defined by the RRS. There may also be implemented VHF announcements and/or broadcast text messages. We will adhere to common Colorado practice of racing with whatever wind appears and not resetting lines and courses or abandoning races to react to small changes in wind direction. Dillon Reservoir is at 9017 feet of altitude. This altitude has health considerations for some people. All boats seeking to launch into Dillon Reservoir will be inspected for invasive species and power washed if necessary. Dillon is believed to be free of invasive species and boats can be tagged and documented when hauled.
