The second part is the insert printed on semi-rigid PVC with a matt finish to allow details of the maintenance record to be added with a fine point permanent marker. When the insert is not present the holder indicates that the equipment is not to be d. This insert will only be absent if the equipment is awaiting maintenance/tests or has been condemned. 3 58 Tagging - Temporary Tie Tags Tie tags are required wherever a need occurs to temporarily mark items and areas for safety reasons, usually during maintenance and in connection with the permit to work system. These tags are printed on a semi-rigid PVC with a matt finish to allow an authorisation signature and the date to be added in pen. The tags are supplied in packs of ten and come complete with wired plastic twists for easy fixing. 5 60 Tagging - Pipes Good working practice should dictate the of a pipe identification system to promote a safe working environment. The system detailed here conforms to BS 1710:1984 Specification for the identification of pipelines and services, and the colours conform to BS 4800:1989 Schedule of paint colours for building purposes. Tapes should be fitted either side of valves, at wall penetrations, T s and crossovers etc, and at regular intervals along the pipe. Prior to application, pipes and lagging should be dust and oil free.
