Define The vessel s systems and equipment configuration operational mode Operational parameters and limits covering equipment and conditions operational guidance The actions to be taken in response to faults and deteriorating conditions 2. Present the plan in an easy to understand decision support tool Requires a thorough knowledge of: the DP system the DP FMEA the industrial mission vessel location risk assessments 6

7 OPERATIONAL ACTIVITY PLANNING CURRENT CONCERNS Analysis of recent DP reports indicate a lack of planning in certain circumstances When planning was undertaken not all relevant parties were consulted during planning phases There is a perception that operational activity planning consists of posting a spreadsheet on the bulkhead How to improve operational activity planning DP Practitioner accreditation Encourage Continuous Professional Development of all key DP personnel IMCA DP event bulletin 7

11 DP PRACTITIONER ACCREDITATION SCHEME AIMS - Improve the consistency and conduct of DP trial - Set a minimum level of knowledge for DP subject matter experts Two proposed categories of accreditation 1. A Company DP Authority A person who provides advice on DP assurance processes and is typically employed within A DP vessel operator A DP vessel chartering company (The client) 2. A DP Trials & Assurance Practitioner A person actively involved in producing and assessing the results of DP FMEA s, FMEA proving trials and DP annual trial programmes 11

13 REACTIVATION OF DP VESSELS WORKGROUP Chairman - Mike Meade, M3 Marine First meeting 30 January 2018 Work scope: Produce a concise reference note to assist reactivation of a DP vessel following a period of layup Target audience DP Vessel Managers and Superintendents Use output from 2017 IMCA Marine Technical Seminars Identify and list the current guidance available to vessel operators Optimum size 5 10 pages Complete work by 30 June
