7 6 Selection of the mode setting There are four mode settings:: Mode settings Indication Page 6.1 Weighing 1 SEt 1* Weighing and parts counting 1 SEt Weighing and percent 1 SEt Weighing and conversion 1 Set 4 42 Manufacturer s default. The mode setting is kept even when the balance will be turned off. In each mode setting weighing, pieces and percent presets with tolerance range are possible point 7 Weighing with tolerance range. In each mode setting accumulations of weight values, pieces and percent values are possible, see pint 9 Accumulation of indicated values. 6.1 Mode setting Weighing Setting see point 10 General programmations on mode setting 1 Set Weighing Turn on the balance with the switch at the bottom of the right side of the casing. All segments and signs will appear in the display in the frame of the self-controlling. Then the indication changes to 0. Now the balance is ready for use. To secure the accuracy we recommend a warming-up time of minimum 15 minutes. Only now (!) place the weighing object on the weighing plate. Take care that the weighing object does not touch anywhere at the casing or at the base. The weight determination is finished when the small ring o (=stability detector) appears in the left upper corner of the display. Read the weighing result BA-defs-0118

8 The indication of a weight unit, i.e. g can be changed to another unit, e.g. 2kg by repeatedly pressing F. Setting unit see point 10 General programmations : Weighing with tolerance range, see point 7. Weighing with accumulation, see point Taring TARE Place tare cup on the weighing plate and press TARE. The weighing indication changes now to 0. The weight of the cup is now memorised. Fill weighing object in the cup, read measuring value. By pressing TARE, after the terminated weighing operation 0 appears again in the display. The taring procedure can be repeated several times, for instance to produce a mixture of several components. The limit is reached when the total weighing range has been used. After removal of the tare cup the total weight appears as a negative value with - mark Bar graph display when weighing Will be activate with weight unit B is active on the display. This is available by F. See point Weighing. The bar graph (below the digital display) moves from the left to the right side and mar5ches in the same measure as the balance is being loaded. Is full breadth will be reached at full capacity. This is to display analogously the actual remaining weighing range and to avoid an overloading Net-total-weighings Useful when a mixture of several components will be weighed in a tare cup, and when finally the sum weight of all components will be needed for control (Net-total), i.e. without the weight of the tare cup. See point 8 Accumulation of indicated values, point 8.2 Net-total-weighings 470-BA-defs

9 6.2 Mode parts counting Set mode parts counting with F and TARE on 1 Set 2,, see point 10 General programmations Confirm with S. Press F and release it when U SEt appears. Conversions to foreign weight units Conversions to complex units such as density (g/cm³), area weights (g/cm³) or length weight (g/m) Conversions to works-internal arithmetical units, for instance works standards This factor can be as well as greater or smaller than 0. Positive and negative numbers can also be memorised. Set to 1 SEt 4 With F and TARE, see point 10 General programmations. TO SET THE CONVERSION FACTOR SEE POINT INPUT OF THE REFERENCE WEIGHT USING THE KEYBOARD Input firstly the sign, then the figures before the decimal point, the decimal point, and finally the figures after the decimal point. Delete the conversion factor by new input of a conversion factor of 0, then confirm with S. Display 0, the memory is deleted. 470-BA-defs

13 7 Weighing with tolerance range (Check weigher). This balance can be used as dispensing balance as well as grading balance. The respective lower and upper limiting values can be memorised. This is possible in all four modes: 6.1 WEIGHING 6.2 Weighing and parts counting 6.3 Weighing and percent 6.4 Weighing and conversion For 6.2 up to 6.4 firstly the starting extents have to be set, i.e. the reference number, 100 % reference weight and conversion factor, the limiting values in the sense of point 7.1 Input of the limiting values by weighing. Important! Input always firstly the lower limiting value, only then input the upper limiting value. 7.1 Input of the limiting values by weighing (see point 6.1 Mode weighing ) Press S and release it when L. SEt appears. Now flashing display of either 0 or of the actual memorised lower limiting value. Put the lower (i.e. the smaller) limiting value on the weighing plate. Confirm with F, the memorising will need a short time. Now 0 appears again flashing. Put the upper (i.e. the greater) limiting value on the weighing plate. Confirm with F and wait for the beep. Now both limiting values are memorised. When the succeeding weighings will be within the tolerance range, i.e. between the lower and the upper limiting value, an acoustic sign will optionally come out. The acoustic sign stops when the tolerance range has been left. (More options for weighing with tolerance range see 10 General programmations.) BA-defs-0118

14 Important! In case the balance should be unstable in the range of the limiting points, the vibration filter should be turned less sensitive, see point 10 General programmations. 7.2 Input of the limiting values using the keyboard Press S and release it when L. SEt appears. Now flashing display of either 0 or of the actual memorised lower limiting value. Press TARE, 0 start to flash. 31 Notes a) Selection of the 6-digit data format: In case that the input data should be of the 7-digiti type, only the highest six digits will be transmitted the lowest digit will get cut off. Example: G G b) If the input data was shorter than 6 digits, the leading zero will be cut off, so that the remaining data correspond with the original data. Example: G G c) With 7-digit data without decimal point where the lowest digit cannot be cut off, the data transmission will be marked as an error. Example: G G E BA-defs-0118

32 13.3 Data Input General Notes Via the interface unit the balance can be handled by the transmission of commands. These commands are: 1) - external tare 2) - output control 3) - setting of the operating mode Transmission of Commands a) Transmitting the command from an external device to the balance: The chronological coordination with data that are being transmitted by the balance is not necessary during the transmission of commands due to the system s full duplex operation mode. b) If the command was correctly received the balance sends a confirmation (ACK, Code 06H). With incomplete transmissions the balance sends a nonconfirmation (NAK, Code 15 H). c) With the balance operating at normal display mode the confirmation (ACK) / non-confirmation (NAK) is sent 1 sec. after the transmission of the command. d) With the balance operating at other modes (e.g. setting of the specific weight / the reference points for the evaluation / functional parameters or verification) the confirmation (ACK) / non-confirmation (NAK) is sent as soon as the balance gets back to the normal display mode. 470-BA-defs

35 14 Important information This precision balance should be used by skilled staff. This electronic balance is a precision instrument. Avoid disturbing environmental conditions such as air current, vibrations, strong electrical and magnetically fields and rapid change of ambient temperature. When necessary readjust the balance upon temperature adaptation. Avoid high humidity, vapours and dust because the balance is not hermetically closed. The balance should not be directly touched by any liquid, it could enter into the measuring cell. Therefore please wipe the unit with a dry or damp cloth. Do not use solvents, because varnished or plastic parts could be damaged. A short warming up time of some minutes after having switched on the balance will stabilise the measuring values. Place the object carefully on the weighing plate. Avoid any constant load on the weighing plate beyond of the use. Avoid by all means shocks and extreme impairments. Remove immediately spilled substances. When the program cycle is disturbed, turn off the balance and then turn on it again. Start again the weighing procedure. Do not use the balance in rooms where is a danger of explosion-proof. The balance should be checked every day by means of the supplied check weight. Warranty expires when opening the balance BA-defs-0118
