3 Levels of Emergencies Level 1: A Level I emergency is a major disaster that has an immediate and significant impact on the entire campus community and will require outside resources This type of incident may involve casualties and significant property loss. The Emergency Communications Center will be activated immediately Level 2: A Level II emergency will impact the entire Recreation Center and will require a response and resolution by Campus Safety Services. Initial response will be determined by the type of emergency. These events may escalate quickly or may threaten lives and safety. Level II incidents will require activation of Emergency Action Plan. Level 3 A Level III Emergency is a localized, contained incident that is quickly resolved with internal resources or limited help and does not affect the overall functioning of CSU Recreation Center. This type of emergency may not require activation of the Emergency Communications Center.

5 EAP Chart SILVER: Life threatening Medical (Example of EAP) Aquatic Supervisor (AS) Respond to area with AED, First Aid & Oxygen. Provide Care Facility Supervisor (FS) Respond to area with First Aid &AED. Direct EAP & personnel. Stay in contact with all personnel. Intramural Supervisor (IS) If out of building: Call 911 immediately. Contact Facility Supervisor If in building: Stop activity, respond as directed by FS Lifeguard (LG) If incident is in pool: clear pool, call code, attend to victim. If in another area: Rotate so AS can respond. Membership (MB) Terminate all activity. Call Maintain Radio contact with FS

6 EAP Chart (cont.) Equipment Issue (EI) Close and shut down EI. If incident is on 2nd or 3rd floor go to elevator and hold for emergency response personnel. Direct them to appropriate area. If incident is on the 1st floor, proceed to area. Fitness Attendant (FA) Respond to area. Provide crowd control and other support as directed by FS. Building Maintenance Assistant (BMA) Respond to area. Provide crowd control and other support as directed by FS. Group Fitness Instructor (GFI) If incident is in Studio: Call Code over Radio & and administer care until AS arrives. Office Manager (OM) Assist as needed at Customer Service Professional Staff (PS) Respond to area. NOTES: REMAIN CALM ACT PROFESSIONALLY

20 Code: Silver Severe Medical Emergency Call Code Silver for the following situations: Breathing Emergencies Cardiac Emergencies Severe Shock Persistent chest pains Loss of consciousness Severe bleeding Head injury Head, neck or back injury Deep burn to the face and neck Pressure or pain to the abdomen that does not go away Vomiting or passing blood lasting Multiple seizures or one longer than 5 minutes Poisoning Compound fracture broken bone showing through the skin Sudden severe headache Slurring speech

21 Code: Blue Minor Medical Emergency Bloody nose without life threatening symptoms Sprained ankle Knee injury Dislocation Minor bleeding First and second degree burns not on face or neck Abrasions Muscle cramps

22 Code: GREY Severe Weather warnings and watches Rain Flood High Wind Tornado Blizzard Other: depending on where in the country you live

23 Code: PINK Missing Person First Responder calls code Identify person missing with age, gender, hair color, clothes they were wearing. Everyone should focus on gender when searching, this is easiest to spot.

24 Code: Violet Violence: Fights or Riots First Responder should call code Neutralize the situation without causing harm to self or others. Contact Facility Supervisor for back up Give care to victims once situation is diffused Facility Supervisor should assist with neutralizing situation without causing harm to self or others Contact Aquatic Supervisor if needed Have Customer Service contact 2020 if needed. Stay in contact with all personnel. Other personnel should remain in their area unless directed otherwise by Facility Supervisor

25 Code: Black Bomb Threat If a Bomb threat is called in: REMAIN CALM Listen carefully, be polite, show interest, keep the caller talking to gather as much information as possible Use explosive device date record to question caller. Write everything down you can. Upon completion of call or before if possible, call Campus Police If a threat is written or a suspicious parcel is found or sent Keep anyone from handling it or going near it Contact Campus Police immediately Write down everything you can remember about receiving the letter or parcel or finding the object. Follow Police instructions

26 Code: Red Fire (Real or Drill) First Responder activates fire alarm, calls code, identifies extent of situation, where the fire is located and initiates evacuation of area.

27 Code: Yellow Power Outing A power outage in all or part of the Facility requires evacuation of those areas. During a power outage at night we need to get members to the most naturally lit areas: Gym/MAC. The following areas will have emergency flashlights available. Natatorium Front Desk

28 Code: Orange Chemical Spill or accident First Responder contacts Facility Supervisor Cover nose and mouth Evacuate staff and patrons from area.

29 Code: Brown Armed Intruder An intruder is an individual who has entered the building without authorization and could cause harm to individuals. An active shooter is an individual actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a populated area, typically through the use of firearms. All personnel should REMAIN CALM as patrons will follow your lead. Direct patrons in immediate vicinity to an area out of the shooter s view preferably in a windowless area that can be locked or secured. Silence all cell phones pagers, and radios
