1 GOVT CAN SAVE RS.5000 CRORES ANNUALLY BY LPG SAVINGS IN DOMESTIC CYLINDER GOVT CAN PROMOTE DOMESTIC LPG 25 % BY RETROFITTING ON CYLINDER AT RS.500/- BRIEF IDEA ON LPG SAVINGS IN DOMESTIC CYLINDERS, TO BE ACHIEVED NOW:- 1. The Govt can save Rs.5000 Crores annually by lowering the subsidized cylinders from 12 to For which, the Govt to approve LPG Gas Fuse device at a proposed price of Rs.500/- only per cylinder. 3. This device is nothing but a Two stage regulator with added safety feature & meter to show LPG in cylinder. 4. Already LPG savings 25 % achieved by thousands of consumers using LPG domestic cylinder Gas Fuse device. 5. The Gas Fuse is sold by those vendors for Rs.2000 to 3000/- directly and by MLM means. 6. The gas fuse brands report shows 25 % savings after in house testing / Mentioned in their website. 7. This is confirmed by the LPG consumers and as well claimed by the Gas fuse vendor. 8. The Gas fuse vendors has sold LAKHS units all these years and the LPG savings confirmed by the users. 9. The vendors promoted this device for gas safety and not for savings and hiked the product cost. 10. The Gasfuse device is now manufactured in low volumes, hence high cost and not approved by oil companies. 11. Hence the price above Rs.2000 to Rs.3000 can be brought down by Govt by manufacturing in mass scale. 12. Allow the existing regulator vendors to produce this device is mass scale at presumed low cost of Rs.500/- 13. After approving the public to use this device then, the Govt can reduce annual consumption from 12 to The device I purchased thro Snapdeal over net costs Rs.700/- only now when the device MRP is Rs.3000/- and if the same is mass produced after Govt approves the same, the mass price can come down to Rs.500/- and 15. For the domestic consumer, the saving of Rs.100 (25 % LPG savings) on Rs.400/- in 4 months payback. 16. Instead of selling LPG stove accessories mandatorily to each consumer, the Govt can approve this device and allow the consumers to save LPG and reduce their consumption from 12 to 9 to 6 cylinders per year. 17. The oil companies are aware of this product but as on date, no one has taken the initiative to popularize this product for LPG savings. The Govt to take initiative TODAY to achieve LPG savings immediately. 18. The Govt can either approve this gas device now after scrutiny as LPG saving device and in parallel, ask the existing LPG regulator OEMs to mass produce this product so as to bring down to the proposed cost of Rs.500/- from Rs as the existing LPG domestic regulator is costing only Rs.200/- in the market now. 2 LPG SAVINGS IN DOMESTIC LPG STOVE USING TWO STAGE REGULATOR BRIEF IDEA:- The proposed idea is that the domestic LPG cylinder can be replaced with cascaded two stage pressure gas pressure regulator; the flow will be streamlined irrespective of input pressure variations arising out of full level to empty level of LPG in the cylinder. Is this not a grey area to be addressed to now? i.e. targeting to pinpoint pressure regulation to achieve steady combustion always? This is achieved by the GAS FUSE device along with extra safety features along with LPG gas indication meter. The same function can be achieved by the proposed two stage regulator which can be made by the existing LPG domestic pressure regulator OEMs. The proposed regulator will act in two stages; the first one will sit on cylinder first and will act as COARSE pressure regulator; and the second one will be cascaded to the above regulator to act as FINE Pressure regulator and achieve steady pressure & flow for varying LPG liquid level in the cylinder. EXISTING DOMESTIC LPG REGULATOR FUNCTIONING:- 1. The 14 KG weight of LPG liquid at pressure of say, 5 bars is first reduced to 0.03 bar as 30 milli bar LPG gas with variation of output from 40 to 23 milli bar for the full level to empty level of LPG in the cylinder and this pressure reduction achieves the Liquid to Gas phase of LPG from the cylinder thro the regulator. Then the low pressure LPG gas is premixed with air before burner to go for combustion. 2. Vanaz.com / Pune / The technical specifications of the pressure regulator approved by Oil companies. The details are taken from the net and from the Indian manufacturers of LPG regulators. The same needs to be ascertained from the LPG experts / LPG research authority in India. 5. We also need to know what is the most optimum band of LPG pressure say 28 milli bar (280 mm WC / 11 inches Water column) that can be narrowed down for sustained steady combustion of 14 Kg LPG. We understand that the

3 pressure band around 28 milli bar if narrowed down, we will get a steady pressure & flow of gas output to be premixed with air before the stove burner. PROPOSED TWO STAGE CASCADED PRESSURE REGULATOR:- 6. The present LPG pressure regulator s Turn down ratio is say in the order of 200: 1 ratio. Here the ratio is huge that the output regulation band is widened now. Now if we provide a two stage regulator; that is the coarse regulator in first stage to bring down the pressure to 1200 to 2000 milli Bar as 1 : 4 as ratio of Primary compression. Then the secondary compression in the ratio of 50:1 will give finer pressure regulation downstream. 7. And by fine regulation in the second regulator from above to the secondary pressure of say 28 millibar, this will make the flow steady for any level of the LPG in the cylinder. We find in other process that this ratio is optimum to achieve better regulation. This cascaded turn down ratio will optimally give better and precise, pinpoint pressure regulation of LPG outlet pressure. VENDORS PROMOTED GAS SAFETY DEVICE YEARS BACK:- 8. The Gas safety device vendors at present in India are either branded / Foreign collaborated/ small scale industry / Assembly vendor / MLM vendor etc and the prices vary from Rs.700 to Rs.2500/- 9. It is a pity that many MLM traders are selling this gas safety cum saving device thro hiked margins. Presently, the snap deal purchase over net is Rs.700, that is the minimum price available to consumer. I think, without Govt initiatives, the energy saving devices will be sold like this way only with 5 times hiked margins. What I got now from Snapdeal is the Gas Safe product name in March 2014 and labeled from the company called Gas Safe India Marketing, www:gassafe.net.in vide the image given below. The Specs given by one of the MLM gas fuse vendors: - Inlet pressure 0.7 to 15.6 Bar. Outlet Pressure: Kpa / 1.2 Bar to 2 Bar. Flow: m3/hr 10. Invariably all the vendors are selling the product as only as Gas Safety Device giving priority to safety in the Automatic shut-off mechanism of gas in case of high flow & low pressure at the outlet. 11. Either the vendors are giving the least priority to the savings or not highlighting / silent on the savings. But, the entire local to branded vendors show LPG savings of 20 to 30 % on retrofitting their product on cylinder over the few years.

4 12. The King fuse brand report shows 33 % savings after in house testing / Mentioned in their site. They say IIT reports confirm their savings. This needs to be confirmed by the experts and by the users who are monitoring the usage strictly. They claim that they have sold tens & thousands of devices all these years and I checked with their users and confirmed the LPG savings.

5 PAYBACK :- The conventional cylinder regulator costs only Rs.250/-. For the subsidized gas of Rs.400 for 14 Kg cylinder, this 25 % savings works out to Rs.100 and the cost of the regulator can be paid back simply in 4 months say for the proposed new two stage regulator mass scale price of Rs.500/- 13. And for commercial cylinder usage in the stove application, the payback will be just a month. Leave alone the payback; we will be delighted to anticipate this LPG savings. 14. Presently, the Gas Fuse device vendors sell their product for the sake of safety only and hence quoting a high price of Rs.2500/-. If we work out the LPG savings on their device, the simple payback will be 24 months and it is not worth trying for this high price pay back. 15. By this proposed device (same like GAS FUSE device) the consumer is benefitted with 1) LPG savings of 25 % 2) Gas fuse device gives added safety to kitchen compared to existing regulator 3) The LOW gas indication meter allows the housewife to plan for LPG availability in cylinder.
