2 Work safely or don t work at all There are strict procedures when working on installations and systems. After all, there s a risk for noxious substances to be released. Therefore read the Permit to Work carefully and check if the described control measures have been taken. Then take the precautionary measures which belong to your job. Speaking the same clear language regarding Health, Safety and Environment, and harmonization of regulations by focusing primarily on agreements between companies and contractors. That s the goal the member parties of HSElife UNIO pursue.
3 HEALTH AND SAFETY SIGNS Clear health and safety signs play an essential part in safety during operations and in the health of employees. That s why at a location everyone (visitor, employee and contractor) must be familiar with the meaning of the H&S signs and follow the rules.

12 H&S SIGNS IN PRACTICE At a location we often use warning signs, prohibition signs and mandatory signs side by side or together. Location sign (onshore) General information about the location. The H&S signs that apply here, can also be found in other specific places on the location.
13 Loading area sign (onshore) General information about the rules that apply to the tank truck loading. Specific hazards are recognizable on the pipes that are used for loading.
14 Storage vessels and storage tanks Storage tanks > 1 m³ (for usage onshore) are indicated by: equipment identification number and volume substance name danger symbols NFPA-coding ( hazard diamond ) hazard identification number substance identification number (UN-number) Example: tank coding Natural gas condensate
15 Pipe lines All pipe lines on a location are indicated by: substance name group s color danger sign direction of flow Example: pipe coding Natural gas condensate
16 Hazardous substances Storage facilities and storage areas are indicated with the general H&S signs.
17 Gas cylinders Gas cylinders must carry: color marking UN-number proper shipping name danger symbols

24 LMRA Last Minute Risk Analysis ASK YOURSELF THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS: Do I know what I need to do? Is the workplace safe? Are all safety procedures explained to me? Am I familiar with the hazards of my work (assignment)? Do I have proper safety equipment (PPE)? Do I have the right tools? Are my tools certified? Have I done everything possible to minimise the risk? If anything goes wrong, do I know what I m supposed to do? All YES: start (of continue) the activity. If NO or in doubt: go to your supervisor and discuss the situation. HSE LIFE
