6 Advice to ensure long life and best Service from your Trulife Pressurecare products. Thank you for choosing our Pressurecare product range. Our products are used to aid the prevention of pressure ulcers and correct positioning in the surgical environment. A Patient s predisposition to this type of injury is based on many factors including intrinsic factors such as general health, age, weight and pre-existing medical conditions. The risk of patients acquiring pressure related injuries can be minimized by properly using the Trulife range of products, along with good clinical practices. Appropriate care and attention will ensure the long life and durability of your Trulife Pressurecare products. General use of your Trulife Pressurecare products. In line with good clinical practice, assess the patient s condition and areas of potential risk prior to deciding which pads and positioners to use. Please ensure the patient is correctly positioned in a safe and secure manner at all times and ensure that no excess pressure is applied to any one area. Pay particular attention to areas of high risk. A sheet may be placed over the product; however, this will reduce its shear relieving properties. If a sheet is used, it should fit loosely over the products and be un-starched and free of wrinkles or folds. Products should be handled with care. Avoid placing sharp instruments on the products as they will puncture the film. Pads may be heated to body temperature in an oven, pre-heated to 40ºC, or on a heated mattress. Please follow instructions of the oven or mattress manufacturer as appropriate. (Please refer to good clinical practices) The products can be cooled to -12ºC without any adverse effects. Avoid pulling table pads while patients are lying on them, as excessive force will adversely affect them. Avoid pulling products along rough or sharp surfaces. Products should be checked for wear and tear. If damage occurs (e.g. cut, crack or tear) the product should be discarded. A repair kit is available for the Oasis, Elite and Azure range but should only be used as a temporary solution. Products should be clean and dry before use. The Oasis + discs aid slip reduction, however they should be used in conjunction with other anti slip measures. (Please refer to good clinical practices) The Oasis + range is 100% silicone. It is 'oily to touch' as the silicone releases oil, this is hypo-allergenic and gives extra grip. Do not expose the product to a naked flame. Use correct lifting techniques when lifting heavy products. Oasis Extremity Belt (OA113) and Oasis Positioning Belt (OA110) This product is designed to assist in stabilising the patient when positioned on the operating table, and is not designed to support weight of the patient. Prone Positioners EL903 and EL904 For Maximum protection, these products should be used in conjunction with the prone headrest (EL141), and a low chest roll or universal Positioner to elevate the feet. Ensure the patient is positioned safely and securely. Please ensure straps are securely wrapped around the side rails of the table. Oasis Prone / Lateral Positioning System (EL905) EL905: For Prone The EL905 is a versatile and flexible products that can be adjusted to suit the patient. For correct assembly please align black dots as indicated in Diagram 1 page 2 For Maximum protection, the products should be used in conjunction with the prone headrest (EL141), the knee Pad (EL101/102) and a low chest roll, or universal Positioner to elevate the feet. Ensure the patient is positioned safely and securely. (Please refer to first image on page 3) To best maintain the adhesion of the Hook and Loop, peel the Positioner away from the base plate using the inside corner. Please ensure straps are securely wrapped around the side rails of the table. EL905: For Lateral Set up the EL905 for Prone Position ( See Image Diagram 1, page 2) Rotate the top two gel pieces, you will see one continuous black line (See Diagram 2, Page 2). Move the other 4 pieces of the EL905 down to the next Velcro piece, this will allow the EL101 to fit. The EL905 should be adjusted as per image, once in this position it should not be adjusted. Using the EL905 in Lateral, please use in conjunction with the EL022 / Open Head Ring and the EL101 Armboard Pad (Please see Diagram 3, page 2). An EL101 pad should also be used under the shoulder. (This will cover the black plastic base on the EL905 as illustrated in Diagram 2, page 2).The patient should never come in contact with the black plastic base of the EL905. Ensure the patient is positioned safely and securely. Please ensure straps are securely wrapped around the side rails of the table. 6

7 ELTS20 Elite Trendelenburg System 20 Set Up 1. To begin place the Anti-Slip Mat at the base of the table. 2. The Positioner should then be aligned on top of the Anti-Slip Mat. 3. Fasten straps to the rail. 4. Place the headrest as close to the Positioner as possible; noting the directional arrows. 5. When transferring the patient, make sure the shoulders are aligned with the indicators on the main body of the Positioner. (Refer to image 1&2 above). 6. Place patients head onto headrest. Once the patient is correctly positioned, please place the patient s legs into the leg stirrups. ELTS40 Elite Trendelenburg System 40 Set Up 1. Perform steps from the ELTS20 Set Up, excluding step 3. Straps do not need to be fastened. 2. Once the patient is correctly positioned, Shoulder Supports can be added. To attach Shoulder Supports, fit the L-Bracket provided by sliding the L-Bracket into the receiver, located at the front of the support. 3. The L-Bracket should then be placed into the Clamp. 4. Gently slide the Shoulder Supports forward underneath the patient. 5. If there is not a continuous rail, or if fixing prevents the attachment, move the system back to a position that best accommodates the Shoulder Supports and Clamps. 6. Manoeuvre the pockets over the Shoulder Supports. 7. Secure the system by tightening the Clamps on the surgical rail. Arm retainers can be added by pushing the flat side of the board under the mattress 8. Before surgery a tilt test should be performed, to ensure the patient is secure. Please note our system also works in lateral tilt. Products should be disinfected before and after use. Oasis, Oasis Elite, Azure and Oasis + products can be easily cleaned using standard operating room cleaning agents. Avoid soaking products in cleaning fluid. If product has Hook and Loop attachments keep it closed when not in use to reduce the build up of dust. If the Oasis + product attracts fibers. It can be easily cleaned under running water. Products should be dry before use. The Oasis+ products have been tested for Autoclave sterilisation. The tests reported no discernible change from the products after 24 Autoclave Sterilisation Cycles at 134 C and 3 minutes. For the ELTS40 system please follow cleaning instructions included with the Arm Retainer, the L-Bracket, and the Clamps. (ELT22-ELT24) The Trulife Shoulder Support (ELT21)can be cleaned using standard operating room cleaning agents For more detailed information on cleaning agents and other testing, please see the technical guide in your Trulife Pressurecare catalogue. (You can request this from your local distributor) Handling Gently remove pads from tables or surgical equipment. To transfer large table pads (not containing foam) you may roll the pad and carry it cradled in arms. To transport larger foam or gel products, fully support the pad with two hands or cradle it in arms when possible. Carts are recommended for transporting bulkier items. Storage of your Trulife Pressurecare products Fold large table pads in sections of approximately 35cm. Avoid placing heavy loads or sharp objects on any of the products. Please store all products flat. Store products at room temperature. Oasis Elite Table Pads (EL030 and EL031) For best results store product with Gel side facing outwards. Disposal instructions Any disposal practice must be in compliance with all local and national laws and regulations. All packaging materials used for your Pressurecare product can be recycled. In the unlikely event should any problems arise with your Pressurecare product, please contact your local distributor. If returning a damaged product, please disinfect prior to sending.
