LEITNER ropeways was once again able to prove its strengths around the world in From products for use in the Alps through to urban mobility solutions the company s presence on the world ropeway map is greater now than ever before. This is due in part to current projects in no less than 11 countries, which are an expression of LEITNER ropeways ambitious technology, innovation, design and comfort. The centerpiece of many projects is the LEITNER DirectDrive, still setting standards today after 15 years of pointing the way forward for drives. The industry-leading drive developed, produced, and installed onsite by LEITNER ropeways was used in 24 systems in 2016 and is impressing customers all over the world with four unparalleled features: reliability, energy-efficiency, environmental friendliness and low-noise. Besides the trouble-free, high-performance and energy-efficient operation, LEITNER ropeways continues to focus on unique products and outstanding quality in esthetics and design. 6 LEITNER ROPEWAYS AUSTRIA STUBAI GLACIER Symphony of superlatives The longest tricable unidirectional ropeway in the Alps, the world s first 3S to come in two sections with non-stop operation and the first of its kind to have the LEITNER DirectDrive the new ropeway on the Stubai Glacier has no equal. Constructed in just 16 months, the TD32 Eisgratbahn gondola lift represents a new generation of technology and meets the highest standards of performance, efficiency, and environmental sustainability. And the design is no different. The ropeway features the new Symphony cabins, styled by the legendary Italian design studio Pininfarina. Elegant contours, the spacious boarding area, the panoramic windows featuring genuine glass, real leather seats, and Wi-Fi in all cabins ensure a one-of-a-kind ride experience. 7 LEITNER ROPEWAYS MEXICO MEXICO CITY Safe and spectacular ITALY & GERMANY Premium Chair makes its debut The first urban ropeway in Mexico was built in Mexico City, with President Enrique Peña Nieto even attending the official opening. Divided into two sections, the 10-passenger gondola lift transports around 17,000 passengers in 17 hours. It is directly connected to the public transport system and takes passengers into the city in less than 19 minutes. Both ski areas have been partners of LEITNER ropeways from the word go and, with the new chairlifts, have invested in the very best infrastructure. Inspired by automotive design, the modern LEITNER Premium Chair with real leather seats, seat heating, and bubbles is a real draw for winter sports enthusiasts. The new CD6C Bierenwangbahn ropeway was opened at Fellhorn in the Kleinwalsertal-Oberstdorf holiday region. It is the first 6-seater chairlift in Germany to have the LEITNER Premium Chair, with seat heating, bubbles, and the proven child restraints ensuring top-quality, state-of-the-art comfort. 8 LEITNER ROPEWAYS PROJECTS Peak performances at a glance SPAIN TOURIST ATTRACTION At Spain s Cabárceno nature reserve, guests have been riding comfortable LEITNER ropeways cabins over the zoo s incredible landscape featuring 120 different species since Instead of discovering the park on a roughly 20-km-long car journey, or on foot or by bike as before, the panoramic windows now offer a direct view over gorillas, bears, elephants, and the impressive scenery. The cabins with glass floors are a particularly special attraction. The ropeway consists of two independent gondola lifts. One forms a triangle with three angle stations, and support towers that have roller batteries on one side only. Kitted out with the LEITNER DirectDrive and LeitDrive, the two 8-passenger gondola lifts blend seamlessly into the nature reserve. 100th system in France Plose / IT Gerlos / AT FRANCE ANNIVERSARY An anniversary of success. LEITNER ropeways is to celebrate bringing its 100th system into operation in Le Corbier, France. Thanks to the unique LEITNER DirectDrive, the two new Charvin Express and Voie Lactée 6-seater chairlifts ensure safe and comfortable travel in the ski area. Two new installations are in operation in Chamonix, a ski resort steeped in tradition, with the 6-seater La Parsa chairlift offering an impressive view of Mont Blanc. ITALY TIME FOR GREATER COMFORT A new, automatic GD10 gondola lift has been installed at the popular Plose ski resort in Bressanone to replace two chairlifts. All the skiers are delighted with the outstanding levels of comfort. The time also came for some upgrades to the Arabba Marmolada ski area. The new Portados GD8 gondola lift offers greater capacity and enhances the famous Sella Ronda ski circuit in the Dolomites. The new Laner Telemix system increases comfort and capacity at the Obereggen ski area. LEITNER ropeways created a new attraction in the form of two 10-passenger gondola lifts in Bellamonte in the Val di Fiemme, Trentino a holiday resort and popular destination for day trips. It also built two 10-passenger gondola lifts in Roccaroso in Abruzzo. AUSTRIA BIGGER, FASTER, BETTER In addition to the Eisgratbahn gondola lift on the Stubai Glacier a project full of superlatives LEITNER ropeways has brought other ski areas in Austria up to date. In Gerlos in the Zillertal valley, guests can take the new Dorfbahn GD10 gondola lift straight from the village to the ski resort at Isskogel. That makes waiting times to enter the ski resort a thing of the past. Near the summit of Planai in Schladming, an 8-seater chairlift with bubbles and child restraints boosts the transport capacity and boasts an impressively efficient and silent drive system. The gondola lift itself ensures passengers feel really comfortable thanks to heated seats and the LEITNER DirectDrive system. Cabárceno / ES

9 LEITNER ROPEWAYS MALAYSIA HIGH TECH IN THE TROPICAL RAINFOREST The Genting Highlands Resort near Kuala Lumpur is only an hour s drive from the hustle and bustle of the city. At 1,800 m above sea level, it welcomes around 20 million people every year. The world s first 20th Century Fox theme park is due to be opened here in the near future. The new gondola lift Awana Skyway is now the third joint project between the resort and LEITNER ropeways. The ropeway improves the resort s service and offers a breathtaking view over the highlands. Highlights include the cabins with full glass floors person cabins for 20 million visitors Czarna Gora / PL SCANDINAVIA CLEARING THE WAY FOR THE MARKET LEADER Four new systems were installed in Norway and Sweden. In Trysil, Norway s largest ski resort, the new CD6C Skihytta Ekspress is winning new fans with bubbles, seat heating and vibration absorbers. Three new systems were commissioned in Sweden. The popular Kungsberget destination near Stockholm is now more attractive than ever thanks to the Kungsliften CD8 chairlift, which can transport up to 4,000 passengers per hour. The Stöten 6-seater chairlift, in the family ski resort of the same name near the Norwegian border, is the fastest and longest chairlift in the Dalarna province. In the Tänndalen ski resort, the Hamrafjället 6-seater chairlift boosts the capacity to 2,600 people per hour. POLAND & TURKEY AERIAL ATTRACTIONS Winter sports enthusiasts can expect a new attention-grabber at the Polish ski resort of Czarna Gora in the form of the Czarna Gora Express 6-seater chairlift with its striking yellow bubbles. The Cambasi I + II 4-seater chairlifts, on the other hand, are the centerpiece of a new ski resort near the Turkish city of Ordu. Genting / MY

10 LEITNER ROPEWAYS Outlook for 2017 GERMANY - BERLIN IGA Berlin 2017 SWITZERLAND - ZERMATT High-altitude 3S gondola lift LEITNER ropeways is to showcase one of the biggest attractions at the International Garden Show: the 1.5-km-long, 10-passenger panoramic gondola lift with links to the U-Bahn line 5. The 3S gondola lift from LEITNER ropeways will significantly reduce the journey time to the Matterhorn glacier paradise (Klein Matterhorn) at 4,000 m as well as drastically improving the connection between the slopes on the Swiss and Italian sides. With their expansive panoramic windows and automotive-style seats both gondolas come from the legendary design studio Pininfarina. The new Spieljochbahn 10-passenger gondola lift fitted with LEITNER DirectDrive and wide X-line cabins will take winter sports enthusiasts directly from Fügen to the ski resort in future. Also in Fügen, another GD10 gondola lift will replace a chairlift, and the Wimbachexpress in Kaltenbach, which uses an identical design, will give access to a new area within the ski resort. 11 POMA The peak of technology. Headquartered near Grenoble (France) since 1936, POMA is now at home all over the world a key global player on the winter sports, tourism, and urban mobility scene. Each new development serves energy-efficiency, environmental friendliness, and sustainability requirements. POMA has production facilities mainly in France, but also all around the world that are being developed on an ongoing basis. For instance, a new research and development division for 45 new employees was built at the 600-sqm headquarters in Voreppe in France, as well as a 2,400-sqm logistics center. The beginning of building work on the new 70,000-sqm POMA production hall was celebrated in April 2016 in Gilly-sur-Isère in the French Savoy. After the construction work is completed in spring 2017, the company offices, including the production of SACMI and COMAG and the assembly of the wind power plants under the POMA LEITWIND brand, will be relocated to the new company premises. There are also some innovations in the service division: The UPILOT training tool was launched on the market in 2016, meaning operators can now optimally train their staff to deal with all situations and maintenance work, before the system has even been built. 12 POMA CHINA CHIMELONG Safari from a bird s-eye view An 8-passenger gondola lift opened at Chimelong Safari Park in Guangzhou (China), the world s biggest wildlife park. What makes the 2.5-km-long system so special is its incredibly quiet DirectDrive (15 db) which avoids disturbing the animals and the triangular cable route. An astonishing 6,000 passengers can admire more than 20,000 animals from the air every hour. Some 73 of the 224 cabins were even fitted with glass floors and, with a lick of paint, were transformed into zebras, leopards, giraffes, and white tigers in keeping with the safari theme. 13 POMA COLUMBIA MEDELLÍN Green corridor The fourth inner-city ropeway line was brought into operation in The route is 1.4 km long and climbs 197 meters. With 42 cabins, the ropeway can transport 1,800 passengers an hour. It forms a key component of the local transport network and an integral part of the Corredores Verdes (Green Corridors) project. The chairlift and gondola lift can now carry 3,300 people an hour. A real high-point in the 80-year shared history of POMA and the Alpe dʼhuez ski resort. 14 POMA PROJECTS Systems around the world at a glance ELBRUS RESORT MOUNTAIN CHARM At 5,642 m, Mount Elbrus is the highest mountain in Russia and the Caucasus mountain range. It is also where POMA is now building Europe s highest gondola lift and thus playing a significant role in the continued development of the enchanting ski resort. NEW YABULI MAJOR PROJECT IN CHINA New Yabuli is north of Harbin and a two-hour flight from Beijing. It is the most important network of ski resorts in China. The national team trains here and ClubMed has already set up a complex too. The heated gondolas of the new MULTIX 8 gondola lift climb past a middle station to reach the highest point in the ski resort. Collet d Allevard / FR COLLET D ALLEVARD ON A HIGH-SPEED MISSION Two lifts were replaced by a new POMA 6-seater chairlift (EEZII 6) in Collet d Allevard (France) in just 6 months. Skiers can now get from the end of the piste back up to the top in just 6 minutes instead of 25. New work processes reduced the environmental impact of the building work by up to 30%. CHAMROUSSE TIME FOR MORE TRANSPORT CAPACITY Transport to the men s Olympic downhill run of 1968 in Chamrousse (France) has been updated with POMA s help after three years of intensive planning to protect the fauna, flora and livestock farming. A 6-seater chairlift has now replaced the old ski lift. MÉRIBEL-LES-ALLUES COMFORT MEETS AESTHETICS After Tignes, Vaujany, and Nice, an inclined ropeway has now been installed at a residential complex in Méribel-les-Allues (France) too. The cabins meet high aesthetic standards and radiate first-class comfort. Elbrus / RU

15 POMA Kuelap / PE KUELAP FLOATING TO THE INCAS The Incan Kuelap fortress (Peru) is nestled in the Andes at a height of 3,070 m. An 8-passenger gondola lift was installed to ease access to the tourist attraction. Instead of a 1.5-hour car journey, now all it takes is a 20-minute ride on the gondola. The company Consorcio Telecabinas Kuelap was set up to help Ingenieros Civiles y Contratistas Generales S.A. to build, operate, and maintain the system. BRITISH AIRWAYS i360 VERTICAL AERIAL ROPEWAY The highest observation tower in Great Britain was opened in Brighton in The unique, floating observation platform was created in collaboration with our subsidiaries SIGMA, SEMER, and COMAG. Overall height: 162 m Height to climb: 138 m Cabin capacity: 200 people Cabin diameter: 18 m Speed: 0.4 m/s Brighton / GB Santiago de Chile / CL SANTIAGO DE CHILE ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY LEISURE ROPEWAY This is not the first time that POMA has been awarded a project in South America. The journey begins down in the 737-hectare urban park in the heart of the city. A DIAMOND 6-passenger gondola lift leads up to a public swimming pool (midway station). After a 200-m ascent, the gondolas arrive at the Cerro San Cristobal peak at 860 m above sea level. The route is 2 km long and the ride takes 10 minutes. Brighton / GB Arizona / USA ARIZONA SNOWBOWL WITH A VIEW OF THE GRAND CANYON Just 7 miles north of Flagstaff (USA) in the middle of San Francisco s volcanic mountain range is the Snowbowl ski resort. The new detachable 6-seater chairlift is not called the Grand Canyon Express for nothing you can admire the northern side of the Grand Canyon from the top of the ascent. Brighton / GB

16 POMA Outlook for 2017 FRANCE TOULOUSE Major urban project France s first urban tricable circulating ropeway will be brought to life and integrated into the public transport network in Toulouse by The ropeway will connect the academic institute for cancer research Oncopole with the university (30,000 students) on the other side of the river Garonne as well as with the hospital (210,000 medical examinations a year). The journey in the 14 SYMPHONY cabins in a Pininfarina design will take 10 minutes instead of the usual 30 by car. Only 5 support towers are planned for the whole route to minimize the system s impact on the city s skyline. Bab el Oued / DZ ALGERIA BAB EL OUED A quick tour of the old city FRANCE COURCHEVEL Greater comfort The two districts of Bab el Oued and Bologhin Zʼghara in Algeria s capital city are to be connected by two gondola lifts. The roughly 2-km-long route leads through the narrow old town. POMA is to build a new GL8 system in Ariondaz with the capacity to transport 2,400 people an hour, meaning greater comfort for skiers in the popular Savoy ski resort. 18 AGUDIO PROJECTS Flyingbelt and cable cranes FLYINGBELT IN BRAZIL SETTING RECORDS The Flyingbelt in Barroso (Brazil) is the longest suspended belt conveyor in the world. 7.2 km long, the new AGUDIO system at the Lafarge Holcim cement works overcomes a protected area and is an especially environmentally friendly and efficient way to transport material. At 1,500 metric tons of limestone an hour, the transport capacity saves 40 dump trucks per hour, drastically reducing the burden on the environment. 7.2 km long 18 support towers 60 km steel rope 25,000 rollers a single, roughly 15-km-long rubber belt conveyor Yusufeli / TR CABLE CRANE IN TURKEY LIFTING 48 METRIC TONS Three AGUDIO cable cranes came into operation on the Yusufeli dam (Turkey) in February As a key means of transport, they support the excavation work for the foundations and the construction of the 270-metre-high dam, the third-highest in the world. The cranes work automatically according to the tandem principle in order to achieve the necessary load-bearing capacity of 48 metric tons for transporting the excavation machinery. CABLE CRANE IN ETHIOPIA BUILDING DAMS FASTER The 250-metre-high and 630-metre-long dam in Ethiopia saw its Gibe III hydroelectric system put into operation in late An AGUDIO cable crane with a load-bearing capacity of 28 metric tons was used on the construction project to transport machinery and move belt conveyors. The cable crane was in use for 10,000 hours, proving that cable cranes play a major role in saving time and money when building dams. Outlook for 2017 The company will continue expanding into strategic areas in 2017, as well as investing in research and development in order to be able to offer more effective technical solutions in future. AGUDIO is currently involved in a feasibility study into a long-distance and high-performance transport system on one of the biggest mining projects in South America. The invitation to take part in the study and the growing interest in the innovative Flyingbelt technology as well as in cable cranes bodes well for Barroso / BR

19 MINIMETRO Fully automatic mobility was another chance to show how MiniMetro, the cable-hauled railway transport system can successfully meet all manner of different requirements. An APM system was successfully installed at Miami International Airport (USA) and an existing line in Pisa (Italy) was used to connect the airport, car park, and station. Its flexible system, reliable operation, environmental sustainability, and above all its low installation and operating costs make the MiniMetro a fascinating project. Pisa / IT

20 MINIMETRO PROJECTS Airport Highlight MIAMI PRECISION LANDING The southern line of the MIA E train was brought into service in July 2016, with the northern line to follow in February The MiniMetro links the main terminal of Miami International Airport in Florida a key international hub with Terminal E. The two train units can each carry 150 passengers in 3 separate carriages. The trains are fitted with new bogies on rubber tires. The particular challenge in this project was to replace the existing APM system. MiniMetro will be responsible for operations and maintenance for the next 15 years. 30 million passengers a year Pisa / IT PISA EASING TRAFFIC AND COSTS The PisaMover has been in operation between Galileo Galilei Airport and Pisa Centrale railway station since February It can carry around 2 million passengers a year. Being a public-private partnership project, the costs were a key deciding factor when awarding the contract. With its low operating and maintenance costs, the innovative LEITNER DirectDrive can really come into its own here, accompanied by more cost-effective carriages with new bogies in the Jacobs configuration. A stopover at a Park&Ride station helps ease traffic in Pisa itself. Outlook for 2017 Passengers will soon be able to float underground in Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis, Austria. The new subway will boast a chassis complete with air cushion technology and will be laid entirely under the town s main road. The carriage train with a transport capacity of 3,000 passengers per hour will float on an Air Flux system and cover the almost 1.3-km distance and 20-meter difference in altitude almost silently and without any vibrations. MiniMetro is always an attraction. Miami / USA

With partners like Snowpark Developments, F-Tech, FIS, Snowpark Consulting, White Industries, and Snow Operating, it s time to lift the curtain on the latest generation of X vehicles the BISON X and LEITWOLF X both specially designed for park building. 24 PRINOTH Tracked Utility Vehicles 2016 saw a range of positive developments in the construction industry. The oil and gas and forestry sectors also seem to be continuing to offer some interesting opportunities for tracked utility vehicles. The energy supply sector has been relatively stable over the last few years. PRINOTH was able to foster numerous business relationships with reputable manufacturers and rental partners. PANTHER T22 PANTHER T8 AND T16 Top innovation The pipeline and mining industry gained new momentum towards the end of the year, when PRINOTH showcased the PANTHER T8 to the international mining industry at MINExpo in Las Vegas. The PANTHER T16 also smashed every record and was listed in the top 100 product innovations by the prestigious Construction Equipment magazine. In addition to its incredibly low ground pressure, a highlight of the T16 is its rapid attach design (RAD) chassis that helps mount accessories quickly. PANTHER T14R Bestseller With the PANTHER T14R, PRINOTH has developed a Rotating Dumper with a patent-pending innovation able to reset the vehicle s upper and lower portions' alignment once it has turned 180, which is attracting attention in the construction industry. The T14R combines the greatest payload with the highest speed in its category, opening up numerous business opportunities for PRINOTH. Rental companies and sales partners in particular were especially impressed with the new model. As the first ever mulcher with rubber tracks, the newly introduced RAPTOR 300r was a milestone for us and is opening up completely new areas of application. Eastern Europe recorded high demand for mountable mulchers in particular. Fitted with the PANTHER T8 undercarriage, the powertrain structure of the RAPTOR 300 and the new Mulcher M550, the RAPTOR 300r stands out for its unique rubber track. When mulching it can adapt to any soil, no matter how soft, and can even cross asphalt streets. It is even used in swampy areas in Florida and Texas. Extreme applications in mulcher technology require special solutions like the RAPTOR 800. An example of this is the transformation of a former eucalyptus plantation into an agricultural area in Australia. This requires a huge amount of power no problem for the RAPTOR 800 with its HDDL (heavy-duty drive line) drive system and rotavator. The simple mechanical drive is extremely robust and reliable, and can tackle even the very toughest demands. Some RAPTOR 800 vehicles are already in use in this combination and customers seem impressed with the power output and reliability. One of the world s most famous ski areas, Kitzbühel could previously only operate with natural snow but snow is now 100% guaranteed. The biggest single contract in the Alpine region went to Schultz Group last year. LEITWIND was able to establish itself on the Italian, Polish, Turkish, and French markets in The support of wind energy is particularly strong in Turkey, where you can generate electricity for personal use without a license and sell any surplus to electricity companies one reason why demand is increasing. 30 LEITWIND TURKEY ÇORUM Tailwind on the Black Sea Outlook for 2017 LEITWIND has long been a familiar name in Turkey. The company managed to win another public tender in September A contract for four LTW80 1 MW was signed with the mayor of Çorum, a city in the Anatolian Black Sea region. The contract also covers the connection to the power grid and operating and maintenance works for 10 years. POLAND ITALY POLAND A MAJOR OPPORTUNITY Poland is currently the market with the greatest potential. An impressive 550 MW wind power in turbines of up to 1 MW power will be installed by LEITWIND is one of the most prominent suppliers here and has already managed to win the tender for the first nine 1 MW wind turbines. CERTIFYING THE LTW90 The new LTW MW prototype has already been installed in India. The certification phase has begun for the three variants of the LTW90 the 1 MW, 1.5 MW, and 2 MW. The LEITWIND 1 MW turbines are particularly efficient and thus ideally suited to less windy areas the perfect conditions for further growth.
