They were my friends, and so, when Steve passed away I asked Val if there was anything I could do to help out. She requested that I paint the living rooj#1*"%i*#>-*)*,2 East Coast relatives arrived to attend his funeral. So, Val & I spent the next 2 days chatting away, she lying in her bed while I worked in the living room. On the second day, I was rolling out the ceiling when she got around to telling me about her adventurous/athletic brothers and the large old family home in the Berkeley Hills where her parents still lived. I, of course, asked her if there happened to be any old surfboards hanging around this big old family housefgg#8p%6#+%#%0e#1%(ie2#(-#j$#b(e,2#'%&2*?#2'*#i*2k%+e*e in a high reedy voice. 8Oh well? I thought, 8no hurt in asking? and was just starting to roll again when I heard her continue 8nope,,J#-'*#%+0$#%+*#4+#-'*# family with an old surfboard.
