FRESHMEN FORECAST Kredich on: Alton - Abbie is one of the best athletes on the team. She has speed, endurance and a beautiful feel for the water. She has all of the physical tools to be successful. This year she ll have to learn how far she can push herself. Brackens - Lindsey is an intense trainer and racer with an outstanding work ethic who will step up the level of competition in our distance group. Her tenacity has made her a formidable miler, but she has shown some real speed as well and could be a leader on our 800 freestyle relay. Connolly - Jenny is known as an elite backstroker, but she can do so much more. She will give us depth in fly, free and IM events, and could be on any of our relays. Jenny s positive outlook and relentless drive to improve will make her a powerful leader by example as well. Garrett - Maddie is tough, comes from a great background and has already added a real spark to practices. She gives us some power in both butterfly events, and we expect her middle distance free events to develop as well. Gelb - Samara has four strong strokes and excellent fundamental swimming skills. She will make our breaststroke group very competitive and our IM events more powerful. If Sam continues to approach practice with openness and aggressiveness, she could make an impact at the national level. Perks - Caitlin is a strong middle distance freestyler with outstanding fundamentals, impressive focus and a great work ethic. We feel she has the ability to extend her freestyle range in both directions, making her someone who can give depth and punch to any of our relays. Richmond - We re looking to Tori to do just about everything for us this year. She has four excellent strokes, has the speed to sprint and the tenacity to swim longer events, and the team-first mentality. We are really excited about her potential as a 200 and 400 IMer. Wilkins - Atlantis brings a tremendous amount of speed and athleticism to our team, as well as a clear sense of the values that have given the Lady Vol swimming and diving program its identity. We are really excited about her potential to impact our relays and our training environment. Parrington on: McGroarty - Jodie comes to us with a wealth of talent and significant international experience, having competed worldwide for Great Britain, which will bode well in the tough SEC. I look forward to helping continue her development as a top notch competitor both at the collegiate and international level. Trudeau - Gabrielle hails from an extremely strong program in Montreal where she has had the opportunity to train daily in a world class environment. She is physically strong, which will benefit her immensely on springboard. She also likes to dive platform, where the door may be open for immediate success. 31

16 LADY VOL QUOTE BOOK I couldn t be more excited about the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Athletic Center! It is a beautiful facility, and I feel so lucky to have resources like this available to me! Freshman Abbie Alton My biggest swimming thrill was swimming in the lane next to Natalie Coughlin in the 100-meter back at the Olympic Trials. Freshman Jenny Connolly I love the energy and atmosphere of a race. Everything is on the line and it s your chance to stand up and prove how hard you ve worked and how strong. mentally and physically, you are. Freshman Samara Gelb There are so many reasons why I love being a part of the Lady Vol swimming and diving team, but I think what it comes down to for me is that these young women are my family. Some days we may not always get along, but to be able to know that at the end of the day they will always be there for me is, priceless. Senior Katie Gehring I m a really good snowboarder and surfer. Water is my love. Combine water with sand; that is my paradise. Sophomore Martina Moravcikova The best thing about Knoxville is that it is a city full of UT spirit, and the people truly support their school. They love to show off their southern hospitality, and it adds to the friendly atmosphere of the city. Freshman Maddie Garrett Going into my senior year I don t want to base my swimming on time, but instead embrace every moment, race, practice, meeting and enjoy the end of my journey. Senior Ashley Quinn What I like about Matt is how he pushes me to be truly spectacular. He has given me the confidence I needed to be one of the best swimmers in the country. I know that I would not be where I am now without coach Kredich helping me take my swimming to the next level. Sophomore Aleksa Akerfelds I worked at a law firm for a few weeks in Jacksonville this summer. I did legal research for Florida s class action lawsuit against tobacco companies. I have always been interested in law, and this experience just fueled the fire a bit more. Freshman Tori Richmond Jen Arndt has been a huge motivation to me since the moment I met her. I believe Jen is not just a coach, but an amazing role model and such a strong woman that every single one of us can learn from. Senior Ashley Quinn The best view in Knoxville is across the river looking at Neyland Stadium, it always gets me excited and makes me so proud to be an athlete at Tennessee. Junior Alex Barsanti The thing that I like the best about being a Lady Vol is being able to say that I have 25 girls that are pushing me and helping me become not only a better swimmer but a better person. Sophomore Aleksa Akerfelds Coach Kredich brings an attitude of excellence to every practice and meet, along with the expectation that we share that attitude as well. Senior Maria Jugan To be a Lady Vol means that you have a family away from home. It means you have teammates and coaches that will support dreams and talents to the very highest level. It means you can never settle for being good when you are expected to believe you can be extraordinary. Senior Sarah McCall I swim with a group of girls who give me their best every single day and will always be there for me. Being able to say I swim for the Lady Vols is a great honor. Sophomore Morgan Farrell I love the pride that comes along with wearing orange and the Lady Vol T. I know it s an honor to be a part of this program Junior Michele King Last year, we all had a gigantic ice cream fight at Matt s house that was unbelievable. Not many times in your career are you able to top your coach s head with a mound of whip cream and sprinkles and have him laugh. It was amazing!!! Senior Sarah McCall Knoxville is a beautiful city, but my favorite part is that it s rarely cold. I know it will be colder in the winter but I m used to -40 C and I don t like that at all. Freshman Gabrielle Trudeau 32
