3 Ongoing developments in science and research bring and call for movement. At Waldner, we have been designing, developing and building first-class laboratory furniture and fittings for more than 50 years. The following pages will show you exactly what moves, drives and inspires us and thus defines our work and our success. Acting instead of reacting has always been our strength: many of our innovations and developments have become world standards and have considerably influenced the laboratory workplace. The continuous orientation of our work to customer requirements, together with our own commitment to delivering the highest-quality, stateof-the-art systems and perfect service have made us the European innovation and market leader for a long time now. And that is something else we are quite proud of.

4 Even we had humble beginnings When we began manufacturing laboratory furniture in 1950, the Waldner company had already been in existence for 42 years. Opened as a plumber's workshop by our founder Hermann Waldner in 1908, the company continued to expand. Waldner appliances and equipment for the dairy industry and dairies had already made their mark as early as the 1930s. In the expansive climate of the economic miracle of the fifties, Waldner successfully serviced the growing laboratory requirements of the dairy industry. As the company s success grew, so too did the number of employees in the various professional areas. In the following decades, media supply, ventilation systems and electronic controls added to our progressive business offering Company founder, Hermann Waldner, opens a plumber s workshop in Wangen in the Allgaeu region. The laboratory manufacturing department is born: Waldner builds laboratory workbenches and cabinets for the needs of the dairy farming teaching and research institute in Wangen.

5 Aligned to market and corporate requirements, today the Waldner corporate group is divided into the following four legally independent companies: HERMANN WALDNER GmbH & Co. KG (Domestic Techology) One of the largest companies in our region, the Waldner corporate group currently employs over one thousand staff. More than 60% of our employees work at Waldner Laboreinrichtungen in Germany and in the five subsidiaries in Europe. Rigorous quality management combined with the extraordinary commitment of all our employees will guarantee a customer-oriented style of partnership even in the future with Waldner Waldner launches the first series produced laboratory furniture programme on the market. 6 Know-how runs in the family A company is only as good as the people it employs. Waldner as an employer is a sure thing: reliability, continuity, success our healthy company has been expanding, with social responsibility, for almost 100 years now and it offers an impressive variety of different career paths and training opportunities. Skilled employees are what make our success. That is why we have 50 young people in training with us at all times. Dedicated, qualified trainers challenge and encourage our trainees and their talents and ideas. Internal opportunities for further training and insights into other departments round off the training Waldner introduces the integration of media supply and waste disposal with the Series 70 programme. With the Programme 80, Waldner presents the first series produced laboratory furniture with services cubicles and ELTROG electrical trunking.

7 Whole families have been employed at Waldner; sometimes across the generations. There are practically no limits to professional development. As demanded by our high level of in-house production, cross-departmental exchange takes place in the different areas so that we can become more efficient and productive together. This creates a concentrated wealth of experiences that employees could only otherwise gain outside the company. Against this background, in 2001, Waldner, in cooperation with the IHK, set up an additional training course on laboratory building: as a qualified specialist with a broad range of knowledge, the laboratory builder can carry out all work related to laboratory furnishing independently and autonomously. As an internationally active company, we also deploy our cross-regional skills and experience. We both encourage and demand creativity and a willingness to learn; we solicit and give open feedback, and we communicate our ideas and opinions. Short, non-bureaucratic decision-making channels accelerate ideas and projects. This creates an interesting and dynamic working environment where employees are happy to work. 8 It makes sense to be aware of existing standards, but we prefer to set ourselves new ones The fact that many of our ideas and solutions in the laboratory sphere have become milestones motivates us daily to create new ones. At Waldner, it is a tradition and a necessity in equal measure to think unconventionally: if people can not find what they want off the shelf, they set about making it themselves. Our own in-house production and the associated development and construction work always keeps us on the ball. The creative energy generated by the interaction of our departments creates a spicy dynamic because people who look beyond the end of their own noses see more. Our in-house ideas pool is full to bursting. We have numerous patents, utility models and makes to our credit all dreamed up by our own experts. As the premier laboratory manufacturer, we have also received DIN ISO 9001 certification. For years we have been intensively investigating the interrelationships between people, workplaces, ergonomics and ecology in the laboratory. We deploy renowned specialists to help us accurately home in on any problem areas. Because we then analyse these findings in depth, we are able to design laboratory spaces as intelligent, partnership-oriented systems Waldner introduces the variable laboratory furnishing system Variolab-Mobilien W90 (Variolab Furnishings) With the Airflow Controller, Waldner develops the first fully automatic volume current controller for laboratory fume cupboards.

9 The service wing as an intelligent system solution, with its distribution from above, creates freedom for a room s particular requirements and conditions. Our ventilation management is integrated in the ventilation of the entire laboratory building. In this way we facilitate smooth workflows and maximum freedom when it comes to arranging each functional area of the laboratory. For its functional design, our mc6 system has been awarded the Chicago Design Award, among others. Going forward, we will continue to do everything possible to inspire our customers with new and innovative ideas. With our mc6 Laboratory System, we have once again broken the standards mould. As dynamic functional units with interchangeable and combinable modules, the mc6 systems meet every conceivable requirement. 10 Having success is great, but being better is a calling When you are at the top, there are few you can look up to. So it is the needs of our customers and our own ideas and possibilities that show us the way forward. We know what is expected of us we want to be and we must always be better than the imitators. Constantly forging new paths instead of taking well-trodden ones does, admittedly, make us sweat sometimes. But tailoring our product and service offering to the respective wishes of our customers is our standard, because it is only with the flexibility and variability of our systems that we can achieve the best solution to equip our customers superbly for the future. As early as the planning stage, we take into consideration the specific finer points of your project. Whether complete furnishing and whole room projects, new buildings or difficult architectural conditions are the order of the day, our engineers can handle all of the work. We cover the following areas depending on the particular project and the requirements: architecture, timber-frame systems, mechanical engineering, timber-frame construction, structural engineering, civil engineering, energy and heating systems, electronics, electrical engineering, management systems, process engineering and media supply systems. Made-to-measure not readymade. We manufacture our laboratory components ourselves with a manufacturing penetration which is unusual in the industry. This allows us to dictate our quality level and to create special solutions faster. With our process-optimised production sequences we achieve the shortest possible production times for considerable volumes. This is how we produce approximately 30,000 underbenches, 15,000 laboratory cabinets, 15,000 services cubicles and 3,000 fume cupboards every year WALDNER develops the patented hatch fume cupboard in accordance with DIN Part 3 with vacuumed sliding panels. Another new development is the patented system RL ; an integrated ventilation management system in the entire laboratory building.

Every component of every project is installed at the factory by our specialists and pre-assembled precisely. This saves time with on-site assembly; after all, meeting deadlines is important too....
