Establish your team goals: equal matches for all players, just have fun, plan on winning flight and advance to championships, etc. Forward s to your co-captain and players from your District or Local League Coordinator when appropriate. Keep them informed! Obtain players addresses and phone numbers and prepare a team roster so everyone has each other s contact information. Give players the team number, along with division/level/flight/sub-flight name. 12 Dear Captains: I wish I could be there to see the launch of the summer season and see a lot of familiar faces. We have been working hard to improve our leagues and a lot of volunteer contribution is making that happen from the board of directors, the league committee and our advisory panel, to individual volunteers. The office, and Holly in particular, have taken more steps to improve leagues in the last 6 months than we have seen in years. Thank you Holly. Mostly I want to thank the captains who are the foundation of our organization and make league play happen regardless of the challenges of weather, people not showing up, rule conflicts, and facility issues. Thank you captains for being the bedrock of our organization. We look forward to hearing from you all this summer. Rich Correll, League Chair 5/7/2011

14 2010 first successful season with 90 teams and 1,111 players CD on-line registration begins in June. Objective - To create new league play in areas where there may be players at different NTRP levels that would like to play doubles together in a team competition format. Required format for progression is combined NTRP levels by gender, for Adults at 6.5, 7.5, 8.5, and 9.5 (3 doubles courts). Players must be USTA members with an NTRP rating or computer self-rating, and at least 18 years of age. Combo Doubles Leagues will not be a part of generating a player s year-end rating for Adults. Combo Doubles play only advances to Midwest Section and that is it. Seniors and Mixed Combo Doubles can play and form teams, however there is no progression to championship play for Seniors and Mixed Combo Doubles.

17 Read the Schedule Carefully - Locations, Dates, Times, Home or Away SCHEDULES/TECHNOLOGY: We appreciate the fact that you appreciate our efforts in making the schedules! Number of hours it takes to schedule? Endless and continuous.. Court availability on the date you play at your facility and the number of teams in a Division/Level/Flight drives the scheduling process. The schedules are not perfect. We make every effort to continue to improve the scheduling process in the CITA office and at the national USTA level via TennisLink. With every season that I schedule, I learn more and improve the process with pre-planning, technology, and learning the new upgrades of TennisLink along with yourselves! CITA -- NEW On-Line TEAM Registration! Team Management Tool on TennisLink iphone apps New Mobile USTA App LOCATION/TRAVEL: Updated summer facility addresses will be posted on the web next week. When traveling to your match location, plan to arrive minutes early. Allow additional time for heavy traffic and construction. Assume tennis locations DO NOT have restrooms STOP prior to arriving at your destination. No alcohol or tobacco is permitted on school or university property.
18 346 Summer Teams; 43 Court Locations (5 new/previously used); 64 Schedules; 900+Matches; 260 cases of tennis balls; 6,240 cans of tennis balls; 18,720 yellow fuzzy DUNLOP balls. Have a great season of tennis!
19 Major Regulation Changes for 2011 Blue Booklet 1. If an Adult or Senior League consists of only two teams in a level of play, each team must maintain its roster with at least 60 percent of its players at the designated NTRP level of play. 2. A player may play only one NTRP level (.5) above the player s current NTRP level in the Adult and Senior Divisions. 3. Players who play exclusively in the Mixed Doubles Division and choose to participate in the Adult, Senior, and/or Super Senior Divisions the next year must enter those divisions by selfrating with the minimum rating being the higher of the self-rating or mixed exclusive rating. 4. Each Section Association shall designate a committee to handle Self-Rate Appeals for those that appeal their assigned self-rating. 5. Any player who is 70 years of age or older prior to, or during, the calendar year in which such player plays his/her first local league match and has achieved the same rating level or lower for the three prior years, without benefit of appeal, will be granted an appeal if they are promoted at year-end. 6. A Super Senior player is eligible to advance to National Championships competition if that player has played on that same team in at least three (3) matches through Section Championships. No defaults received by the player during all league competition shall count for advancing. A retired match shall count for all players involved.
20 A supplement to the 2011 National League Regulations Red Booklet 2.03A(2)a A player is eligible to progress to local flight-playoff-level competition if the player has played on the same team in at least two (2) matches during its local league season. A maximum of one default received by the player during local league competition shall count for advancing. A retired match shall count toward advancing for all players involved.
21 Adopted by the League Committee - Greater Indianapolis 2/18/2010 All Matches Must Be Played As Scheduled It is expected that teams make all efforts to play their matches as published in the original league schedule. Any request by one captain to another to reschedule is just that a request. In the event of a delay or postponement, the scheduled match must be completed or played before the end of the local league season. The home captain must contact the local league coordinator within 48 hours of the postponed match and notify the coordinator in order to prevent a forfeit being recorded. Matches must be played at the originally-scheduled site unless the host facility determines that it cannot accommodate the rescheduling. A change of venue will only be approved if the host facility informs CITA of its approval of the change. Every attempt must be made to honor the commitment made by and to the host facility. Without the cooperation of facilities our league won t operate efficiently and effectively. In the case of summer matches moved due to rain, the home captain must inform the facility of a venue change within 24 hours if an alternate indoor site is available on the same day. Rescheduling to a different date must be attempted at the original site, following the above procedure.

If both captains agree that weather conditions do not permit the match to be played, the match must be re-scheduled. Both captains must agree on the new match time and place. Rescheduled matches shall be played at the original site whenever possible. However, if an alternate location is available on the scheduled date, teams are encouraged to play at the alternate location as a first option. 1. All completed matches shall stand as played. 2. Matches in progress shall be stopped, the current score recorded (write down) 3. Matches will resume at the point when the delay occurred.
