QB Dwayne Haskins, who has already set the single-season completions record, is 278 yards from the single-season yardage record, currently held by Joe Germaine. WRs K.J. Hill and Parris Campbell have at least one reception in every game this season. Ohio State and Michigan State are the No. 1 and No. 4 winningest programs in the Big Ten over the last 15 years. The Buckeyes have 149 wins since 2004 while Michigan State has 120. No. 10 OHIO STATE (8-1, 5-1) vs. MICHIGAN STATE (6-3, 4-2) Nov. 10, 2018 Noon East Lansing, Mich. Paul Keels and Jim Lachey will have the call on Ohio State s flagship radio station, 97.1 FM The Fan. Matt Andrews will be on the sidelines. SCOUTING MICHIGAN STATE Michigan State enters Saturday s contest with the nation s top-ranked run defense, allowing an average of just 71.7 yards per game. The Spartans have allowed over 100 yards rushing just twice this season vs. Penn State (205) and Michigan (183) while holding opponents under 50 yards on four occasions. They are allowing an average of just 2.5 yards per carry. Linebacker Joe Bachie leads the defense with 68 tackles, including 6.5 tackles for loss, one sack, one interception and five pass breakups. Teammate Kenny Willekes is the team leader in both sacks (7.0 for minus 50 yards) and tackles for loss (13.0 for minus 65 yards). Quarterback Brian Lewerke, an honorable mention All-Big Ten player in 2017, is completing 56 percent of his passes in eight starts for 1,740 yards (217.5 yards/game) with eight TDs and eight interceptions. He is also second on the team with 68 rushing attempts. Leading receiver Felton Davis was lost for the season against Michigan, but Cody White recently returned from a hand injury and played last week against Maryland. He s made 22 catches this year in five games for 320 yards and two touchdowns. Running back Connor Heyward is MSU s leading rusher, average 5.1 yards per carry on his 70 attempts to go along with five touchdowns. BIG GAME FROM BRENDON WHITE When junior safety Jordan Fuller left the game in the second quarter because of a targeting call, the Buckeyes were down three key players in the secondary: Fuller, injured SAF Isaiah Pryor and injured CB Jeffrey Okudah. In stepped Brendon White, who played outstanding. He led the Buckeyes with 13 tackles, not only a career high for him but a season high for the Buckeyes, and had two tackles for losses totaling six yards. He had nine tackles in the second half when the Buckeyes forced punts on the first five Nebraska offensive series to come back from a deficit and lead BACK-TO-BACK HIGHS FOR HARRISON Brendon White wasn t the only Ohio State Buckeye with 13 tackles vs. Nebraska: junior linebacker Malik Harrison matched White with 13 stops of his own with five solos and eight assists. The total represented a career high and gives him consecutive career-bests. He had 10 tackles in the prior game vs. Purdue. ON DOBBINS, WEBER, & THE O-LINE. Ohio State s rushing game produced an eight-game best Saturday vs. Nebraska with 229 yards rushing and three touchdowns. J.K. Dobbins led with a season-high 163 yards with a long of 42 while Mike Weber led with a 10.1 yards per carry average and 91 yards. The efforts helped snap a six-game streak of games of under 200 rushing yards, a total last seen in 2002, when that national champion team went seven consecutive games with 200 or fewer rushing yards. HAVE A DAY, J.K.! J.K. Dobbins rushed for his season high of 163 yards in the win over Nebraska and, in the process, recorded the first threetouchdown day of his career with rushing touchdowns of 10, 3 and 42 yards. 8-0 & 7-0 WITH MIKE & J.K. 100s The Buckeyes are 8-0 in games that J.K. Dobbins rushes for at least 100 yards and the team is 7-0 in games that Mike Weber rushes for at least 100 yards. Weber s 100s: 2016 vs. Bowling Green, Oklahoma, Rutgers and Michigan State; 2017 vs. Michigan State and Illinois; and 2018 vs. Oregon State. Dobbins 100s: 2017 vs. Indiana, Army, Nebraska, Michigan State, Michigan and Wisconsin; and 2018 vs. TCU and Nebraska. 5 OHIO STATE LEADERS Passing... #7 Dwayne Haskins (69.7%) 3,053 yds TD 6 INT yds./game Rushing...#2 J.K. He scored on a 42-yard touchdown pass from Dwayne Haskins, the 13th career TD reception of his career to move into a tie for 16th in school history. GOOD STATS FOR THE WRs Ohio State s receiving corps includes a top six group of players who all have at least 500 career receiving yards and at least 34 career receptions. PERHAPS FOUR 1,000-YARD WRs Tracking the progress of Ohio State s outstanding corps of receivers has been a chore... but a fun one! Ohio State is not only on the cusp of having three 1,000-yard career receivers for the first time in school history, but after Johnnie Dixon s big game vs. Nebraska, the Buckeyes could have four 1,000-yard receivers this year. There have been 12 sets of 1,000-yard career receiving tandems Ted Ginn and Anthony Gonzalez the most recent in 2006 but never three... our four on one team. Career Receiving Yards 1,506 K.J. 20 HEAD COACH URBAN MEYER Ohio State head football coach Urban Meyer is 78-9 through six-plus seasons leading one of the most storied programs in college football. He has coached the Buckeyes to a national championship in 2014 the program s eighth by winning the first College Football Playoff (CFP), to a repeat appearance in the CFP in 2017, to six consecutive Big Ten conference divisional titles, to Big Ten championships in 2017 and 2014, to a 51-4 record in Big Ten games and to a 20-5 record versus ranked teams. He has done this by developing and overseeing a program culture that requires accountability, promotes respect, prepares young men for life after football and develops football skill sets and talents at an unsurpassed rate: his program has produced 40 NFL draft picks the last six years (fourth-most, nationally), including 12 first-round picks (second, nationally) and record numbers of draft picks through the second, third and fourth rounds of the 2016 NFL Draft. And his team members are getting it done in the classroom, as well. Ohio State Buckeyes have earned five academic All-American honors the past four years, one National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete award and a total of 34 players were named Academic All-Big Ten Conference for the academic calendar. These first 16-plus years as a head coach for Meyer, featuring three national championships and a record of 182 wins against just 32 losses for an.850 winning percentage, have been full of accomplishment, achievement and success for which few can compare.
