Ohio State and Nebraska are meeting for just the sixth time. The Buckeyes lead the series, 4-1. The Buckeyes defense has given up less than 300 yards of total offense in each of the last four games, highlighted Saturday by allowing just 66 yards to Maryland (341 yards below its average). Gus Johnson, Joel Klatt and Jenny Taft will be describing the action. The Buckeyes have scored 54 or more points in the last three games while allowing just 35. The team jumped out to an early 14-0 lead on Maryland and never looked back, rolling up a season-high 62 points in front of a homecoming crowd of 107,180. Senior QB J.T. Barrett completed 20 of 31 passes for 261 yards and three touchdowns. Both J.K. Dobbins and Mike Weber had 13 carries and each reached the endzone to lead a balanced offensive attack that produced 584 total yards (303 passing, 281 rushing). The Buckeyes defense was stifling, limiting Maryland to just 66 total yards and six first downs. Ohio State registered a season-high six sacks, forced three fumbles and gave up just 16 passing yards. Saturday s contest will be the sixth all-time between the Buckeyes and Cornhuskers (Ohio State leads, 4-1). Since Nebraska joined the Big Ten for the 2011 season, the two teams have played three times with the Buckeyes winning each of the last two meetings, most recently last season in Columbus, This will be just Ohio State s second-ever trip to Lincoln. The first came in 2011, a come-from-behind win for the Cornhuskers. OhioStateBuckeyes.com #GoBucks

5 Setting the Stage: Buckeyes versus Cornhuskers four TFL), Dedrick Young (39 tackles, two TFL, one sack) and Luke Gifford (36 tackles, four TFL, 1.5 sacks) OHIO STATE POSITION-BY-POSITION SNAPSHOT BAKER YOUNG REAL QUICK... Ohio State is 25-1 in true road games under head coach Urban Meyer and 21-1 against Big Ten opponents. Ohio State s pass defense has allowed less than 100 yards in four consecutive games. The 66 total yards allowed against Maryland was the lowest output against a Big Ten opponent since 1960 (Indiana - 60). Ohio State is officially in night games (those starting after 5 p.m. local time), including records of 15-5 in Ohio Stadium and in road (28-11) or neutral field (12-10) night games. Ohio State has won 16 of its last 19 night games dating to the 2014 season J.T. Barrett ranks in the top 25 nationally in three major statistical categories: pass efficiency (10th, 166.0), passing touchdowns (third, 16) and total offense (21st, 254 yards/game). Ohio State s special teams has yet to allow a punt return this season. Urban Meyer-coached Ohio State teams have scored 50 or more points 22 times during his 73-game tenure. Parris Campbell is third nationally and tops in the Big Ten with a 39.0 yards per kick return average. Nick Bosa leads the Big Ten with 10.0 TFLs and he is 12th nationally with 1.7 TFLs per game. SCOUTING NEBRASKA Coming off a loss at home to Wisconsin last Saturday, Nebraska is 3-3 on the year and 2-1 in the Big Ten. The Cornhuskers own wins over Arkansas State, Rutgers and Illinois with losses to Oregon, Northern Illinois and Wisconsin. Quarterback Tanner Lee is in his first year starting for Nebraska and is currently ranked fourth in the Big Ten with an average of yards per game. He s thrown 11 touchdowns against 10 interceptions. In the Huskers backfield, Devine Ozigbo leads the way with 336 yards on 67 carries, an average of 81.8 yards/game and 4.9 per carry. Tre Bryant started the season off with a bang, gaining 299 yards on just 51 carries over the first two games of the year but has been sidelined with an injury since September. At the wide receiver position, Stanley Morgan leads all Big Ten receivers with yards/game and is third with 30 receptions. The defense has four players who have already registered 30 or more tackles: Aaron Williams (40 tackles, two INT), Chris Weber (30 tackles, DEFENSIVE LINE Coach Larry Johnson (4th year at Ohio State) Briefly: Six different Buckeyes have started at least three games apiece along the defensive line which obviously boasts of depth and experience with 93 career starts among a total of seven players. Tyquan Lewis was the Big Ten s defensive lineman of the year last year and Sam Hubbard was a first-team Academic All-American. Nick Bosa and Dre mont Jones were freshmen All-Americans. No. 1 and No. 1: Led by the defensive line, Ohio State s defense leads the nation with 57 total tackles for loss and its 9.5 TFLs per game is No. 2 nationally. The defensive linemen have contributed 35.5 TFLs with Bosa leading the way and leading the Big Ten Conference with 10.0 TFLs. Bosa also tops the team in sacks with 4.0. Notable Notes & Numbers... Ohio State had a season-high of six sacks against Maryland and the defensive line contributed four of them. The sack pack from Saturday included Bosa, Lewis, Jashon Cornell, Chase Young, Dante Booker and Jerome Baker Dre mont Jones had a string of 16 consecutive starts at DT snapped Rutgers week because of a freak locker-room injury that required stitches After Bosa, Sam Hubbard (5.0 TFLs) and Tyquan Lewis (4.0) are next among the D-linemen in TFLs with true freshmen Chase Young challenging with 3.5 Lewis now has 20 career sacks and he needs just three more to move into Ohio State s all-time Top 5. OFFENSIVE LINE Coach Greg Studrawa (2nd year at Ohio State) Briefly: Already-graduated C Billy Price, senior LT Jamarco Jones, sophomore LG Michael Jordan and junior RT Isaiah Prince are in their second season starting as a unit and they had been joined by third-year sophomore Branden Bowen, who won the right guard position in a position battle that lasted all throughout spring and fall camps. Bowen suffered a left leg fracture against Maryland, though, had surgery Saturday evening and will miss the rest of the season. Starter Stats: This is the first time in Urban Meyer s tenure at Ohio State that the same five offensive linemen who started Game 1 of a season won t start the final game of the season. Saturday against Nebraska will mark just the second time in what will be Meyer s 74th game as Ohio State coach for an in-season starting line-up change along the offensive line. The only other time came in 2013 when freshman Pat Elflein replaced senior Marcus Hall in the starting lineup for the Big Ten championship game against Michigan State. Notable Notes & Numbers... The quartet of Price, Jones, Jordan and Prince has now started 19 consecutive games Price has started 47 consecutive games. The school record for consecutive starts is 50 by Luke Fickell from the offensive line has powered the Buckeyes to No. 1 rankings in the Big Ten Conference in total offense, passing 5

6 offense and scoring offense Ohio State is fourth nationally in total offense at 568 yards per game and No. 14 nationally in passing yardage at yards per game Price, like Pat Elflein last year, has moved to center for his senior season. Elflein was a unanimous All-American and the Rimington Award winner as the nation s outstanding center. He now starts for the Minnesota Vikings Price was a first-team All-American by the American Football Coaches Association, Jones was secondteam all-big Ten and Jordan was a freshman All-American. RECEIVERS Coach Zach Smith (6th year at Ohio State) Spreading the Wealth: Six players have been leading the way at the three positions: Parris Campbell and K.J. Hill at H-Back, Austin Mack and Binjimen Victor at one receiver spot and Terry McLaurin and Johnnie Dixon at the other. All six have caught at least one touchdown pass this season five of the six have multiple touchdown receptions, led by Johnnie Dixon and Binjimen Victor with four apiece. Big Play Makers: Those six wide receivers came into the season with just six combined receptions of 20 or more yards. Six games into the season the receiving corps, including surprising walk-on C.J. Saunders, has 20 such receptions and the receivers are a major reason that Ohio State ranks third nationally with 40 plays from scrimmage over 20 yards (25 receptions and 15 runs) and third natoinally with 116 plays over 10 yards. Notable Notes & Numbers... Ohio State has six wide receivers with double digit receptions and it is on the cusp of having seven: Campbell leads the way with 26 (and with 399 receiving yards) and is followed by Hill with 21, McLaurin with 18, Victor with 14, Mack with 12 and Saunders with 11. Johnnie Dixon has nine receptions All seven of those receivers have caught a touchdown pass this season Dixon had a huge game against Rutgers with three catches for 115 yards and touchdowns covering 70 and 39 yards Ohio State has four 100-yard receiving games already this season: Dixon with 115 vs. Rutgers; Campbell 136 vs. Indiana and 105 vs. UNLV; and Saunders with 102 vs. UNLV. This already is the most 100-yard receiving games by receivers in coach Urban Meyer s six seasons as coach. Previous high was three in 2015 and 2013 Campbell and Saunders vs. UNLV represent the first 100-yard receiving tandem for Ohio State since Ted Ginn and Santonio Holmes did it versus Notre Dame 12 years ago, in 2005 Hill had a career-best effort vs. Army with eight receptions for 74 yards six receivers, and seven total players, caught touchdown passes against UNLV for a new school record fourth-year juniors McLaurin and Campbell were each chosen by their teammates to serve as captains for the 2017 Buckeyes. LINEBACKERS Coach Billy Davis (1st year at Ohio State) Briefly: Team captain Chris Worley has missed the past three games with a foot sprain suffered in the first half of the win over Army RS freshman Tuf Borland has started in his place at middle linebacker against UNLV, Rutgers and Maryland. Jerome Baker leads this unit with 26 tackles. Baker is the only linebacker to start all six games. A different player has led this unit in tackles in five consecutive games: freshman Barron Browning led with six vs. Maryland. Dante Booker had four vs. Rutgers. Malik Harrison led the team with five vs. UNLV. Borland led the Buckeyes with 12 total tackles against the Black Knights after Worley departed late in the first half. And Worley led with 11 vs. Oklahoma. Notable Notes & Numbers... Booker was the defensive player of the game vs. Rutgers and he had another fine game vs. Maryland. He s combined for eight tackles, 4.0 TFLs, two sacks and an interception in the last two games Worley moved to middle linebacker on Day 1 of spring drills after playing on the outside last year Borland s 12 total stops versus Army were the most by a freshman linebacker since the 2011 season, when Ryan Shazier, now a starter for the Pittsburgh Steelers, recorded 15 against Penn State Current Ohio State linebackers have a total of eight double-digit tackling games combined: Worley leads the way with four: 11 vs. Oklahoma this year and last year he had 10 vs. Clemson, 11 vs. Michigan and 10 vs. Oklahoma. Baker had a career-high 15 vs. Michigan last season and also 13 vs. Wisconsin and 11 vs. Indiana. Borland entered the group with 12 vs. Army. CORNERBACKS Coach Kerry Coombs (6th year at Ohio State) Briefly: Coombs is starting two brand new cornerbacks this year: junior Denzel Ward and sophomore Damon Arnette. Both players have started all six games. A newcomer to the program, junior college transfer Kendall Sheffield, has also played extensively for the Buckeyes the first six games of the season and true freshman Jeffrey Okudah has seen his defensive snaps increase the past two games. Notable Notes & Numbers... Ward didn t get an opportunity to increase his high national ranking in pass break-ups after he was removed early from the Maryland game after a questionable targeting penalty. He enters the week tied for second nationally with 10 passes defensed (nine pass break-ups and one interception). He is tied for first in the Big Ten and eighth nationally with 1.7 PBUs per game. In his first ever start in the season opener vs. Indiana, Ward had five pass break-ups and a key, fourth-quarter interception Arnette recorded his first career interception against UNLV. He will miss the first half of the Nebraska game.... Arnette is tied for fourth on the team in tackles with 22 and Sheffield is right there with 20 Okudah has played on defense in all six games this season Ohio State has lost four defensive backs early to the NFL Draft in the last two years with all four first round picks, including a record three cornerbacks in two years. Eli Apple went No. 10 in 2016 to the New York Giants and in this past year s draft Marshon Lattimore went No. 11 overall to the New Orleans Saints and Gareon Conley went No. 24 overall to the Oakland Raiders. SAFETIES Coach Greg Schiano (2nd year at Ohio State) Briefly: Damon Webb leads the team with two interceptions on the season and with three for his career. He is the veteran in the secondary. 7 to his credit. Jordan Fuller has joined Webb in the starting lineup at the other safety spot in all six games. Notable Notes & Numbers... Webb, on the strength of consecutive career-high tackling games with nine stops vs. both Oklahoma and Army, is the team leader in tackles with 29 and Fuller is right behind with 27 A non-linebacker has led the Buckeyes in tackles for a season only six times since 1970, with safety C.J. Barnett most-recently leading the team in 2011 with 75 Erick Smith, a true senior, was outstanding for the Buckeyes versus Army. He broke up two passes, including one diving pass break-up that would have been a sure touchdown for Army, and he also had a career-high nine tackles, part of a 22-tackle afternoon for the three top safeties. He also had a TFL and a fumble recovery Fuller grabbed a tipped pass at the goal line and returned it 40 yards to stop a first-half Indiana drive in Game 1 this season. It was Fuller s first career interception Webb actually had more plays on defense last year than Hooker: 810 to 808 Hooker was a unanimous All-American in his one season as a starter last year. He led the nation in pick-sixes with three and ranked third nationally with seven interceptions. He lis among the NFL leaders with three interceptions for the Indianapolis Colts. QUARTERBACK Coach Ryan Day (1st year at Ohio State) Briefly: J.T. Barrett is 31-5 as an Ohio State starting quarterback and has claimed 28 school (25) and/or Big Ten (3) records, with his most recent records huge: he broke Art Schlichter s 36-year-old school record for passing yards and Drew Brees Big Ten record for touchdowns responsible for. He enters the Nebraska game with 7,894 career passing yards and 119 touchdowns responsible for. Dwayne Haskins and Joe Burrow have each looked good off the bench. Haskins completed 15 of 23 passes for 228 yards vs. UNLV and the first two TD passes of his career: 28 yards to C.J. Saunders and 38 yards to Rashod Berry, and he had a lovely 35-yard TD toss to Demario McCall against Rutgers. Burrow, who broke a bone in his throwing hand about a month ago and is just now returning to form, is 6-for-6 for 57 yards so far this season. Notable Notes & Numbers: The Barrett-led Buckeyes are 14th nationally in passing yards with yards per game, a figure that is first in the Big Ten three touchdown passes against Maryland gives Barrett 16 on the year - 3rd nationally - and his 16-1 TD-to-INT ratio is second nationally to Baker Mayfield s 15-0 the Buckeye offense has tied the school record with four consecutive games of 500-or-more yards of total offense Barrett, Haskins and Burrow combined to throw for a single game school record 474 yards versus UNLV and they also threw a schoolrecord tying seven touchdown passes to a school record seven different receivers Barrett has moved into eighth place in Big Ten history with 10,670 yards of total offense. He passed Illinois Juice Williams (10,594) and Nathan Scheelhaase (10,634) last Saturday. Up next: Nebraska s Tommy Armstrong (10,690) and Michigan s Denard Robinson (10,745). Barrett trails only Art Schlichter (36) in wins as a starting quarterback at Ohio State. RUNNING BACKS Coach Tony Alford (3rd year at Ohio State) Briefly: Ohio State has a quartet of running backs who have combined for a 7.28 yards per carry average and H-back Parris Campbell averages 10.2 yards per rush off his one rush per game average. Weber is rounding into form after missing much of the first four games with a hamstring issue first incurred in fall camp. He has 104 yards rushing and four touchdowns the past two games. True freshman J.K. Dobbins has starred in his six starts: rushing for 669 yards off 88 carries with four touchdowns and a terrific 7.6 yards per carry average. He is 16th nationally in rushing at yards per game. Antonio Williams has played well: 153 yards rushing and three TDs while averaging 5.9 yards per carry. Demario McCall had a breakout game vs. Rutgers with 103 rushing yards off 11 carries, including a 48- yard touchdown run. He also caught a 35-yard touchdown pass against the Scarlet Knights. Notable Notes & Numbers... Ohio State running backs have lost just nine yards rushing all season (148 attempts) Dobbins averaged 13.2 yards per carry against Army, with 172 yards off 13 carries. Only one player in school history has topped that yards per carry average with at least 10 attempts in a game: Ron Springs rushed for 151 yards off 10 carries in 1977 vs. Purdue Dobbins is only the sixth true freshman to start the first game of season for Ohio State. The others: QB Art Schlichter in 1978; LT Orlando Pace in 1995; LB Andy Katzenmoyer in 1996; RB Maurice Clarett in 2002; and RG Michael Jordan in 2016 Last year Weber was just the third Ohio State freshman to crack 1,000 yards rushing (1,096 yards with nine touchdowns) and he was the ninth Buckeye to capture Big Ten freshman of the year honors Dobbins has joined Archie Griffin (1972) and Maurice Clarett (2002) as the only freshman running backs to rush for at least 170 yards in a game twice. Dobbins went for 181 vs. Indiana in addition to his 172 against Army. TIGHT END Coach Kevin Wilson (1st year at Ohio State) Briefly: 2016 starter Marcus Baugh has returned from off-season surgery and is leading the way here once again with 10 receptions for 98 yards this season. Redshirt freshman Luke Farrell and sophomore Rashod Berry are next in line to play and each have multiple catches this season. Notable Notes & Numbers... Baugh has started 21 times in his career, including in all 13 games last season His first TD reception of the season Saturday vs. Maryland was the fourth of his career. He s second among current Buckeyes in that category Berry broke four tackles on his second career reception which turned into a 38-yard touchdown reception against UNLV. Berry, who played tight end as a red-shirt in 2015 but moved to defensive end last year before moving back to tight end this fall, had three catches for 57 yards in the game Baugh is a fifth-year senior who has considerable experience with 44 games played and 37 receptions for 401 yards and four touchdowns. He made a key block to spring J.K. Dobbins on his 52-yard touchdown run against Army. He was also cited by coaches for his key block that enabled Johnnie Dixon to score his 39- yard touchdown against Rutgers. SPECIAL TEAMS Urban Meyer and Kerry Coombs Briefly: Liam McCullough is in his second season as a long snapper and Sean Nuernberger is in his second year handling all placements. Nuernberger was the team s kicker in 2014 but red-shirted last season. Drue Chrisman is a red-shirt freshman in his first season as the team s punter. Notable Notes & Numbers... Parris Campbell is third nationally in kickoff return yardage with an average of 39.0 yards per return. He has a long of 82 yards Chrisman has stepped in nicely for departed and talented Australian punter Cam Johnston by averaging 42.6 yards per punt through the first six games. Chrisman was terrific vs. Oklahoma: a 45.8 yard average off four punts with all four landing inside the 15, at the 13, 11, 9 and 8 yard lines. Chrisman and the Buckeyes are 18th nationally in net punting at 41.6 yards per punt Ohio State is one of only seven schools to not allow any punt return yardage yet this season Chrisman had a string of seven consecutive punts downed at or inside the 15 against Oklahoma and Army Nuernberger is 23-for-33 in his career in field goals. He has also connected on a school record 140 consecutive extra point tries to move within reach of the Big Ten record of 141 consecutive extra points by Michigan s Brendan Gibbons between True freshman Amir Riep has a team best five tackles on kickoff coverage, including three at or inside the 20 (at the 13 and 20 vs. Indiana, and at the 18 vs. Army) Elijaah Goins had three kickoff return tackles inside the 15 vs. UNLV. 7

8 Ohio State Notes and More J.T. THE RECORD BREAKER In addition to becoming Ohio State s all-time leader in passing yards against Rutgers, J.T. Barrett also moved in to the top 10 in Big Ten history in total yards, passing former Iowa great Chuck Long. Barrett currently has 10,670 yards of total offense and counting. With 31 career wins, Barrett is the fourth 30-game winner in school history, joining Art Schlichter, Cornelius Green and Bobby Hoying. Schlichter owns the school record with 36 career victories. LAST TIME VS. NEBRASKA Curtis Samuel had 178 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns, including a 75-yard touchdown reception on Ohio State s first play of the second half, and the sixth-ranked Buckeyes defeated Nebraska 62-3 last November in Columbus. This was the most points scored against a Top 10 opponent for an Ohio State team. Damon Webb got it started with a 36-yard interception return for a touchdown on Nebraska s first drive of the game. J.T. Barrett led three long touchdown drives, including a 15-play, 85-yarder that ended with 1-yard jump TD pass to Samuel with 3 seconds left in the half. NUGGETS FROM THE MARYLAND WIN Urban Meyer improved to 10-1 in games against his former assistants teams. Maryland head coach DJ Durkin worked as a graduate assistant under Meyer at Bowling Green and later as linebackers and special teams coach at Florida. Ohio State outgained the Terrapins in the first half. Ohio State s defense has held each of its last four opponents to fewer than 100 yards passing. The 66 yards of total offense that Ohio State allowed vs. Maryland was a 57-year low for the Buckeyes in a Big Ten game, or since allowing 60 to Indiana in The Buckeyes held Maryland to 16 passing yards. It marked the least passing yards allowed by Ohio State in a Big Ten game since it allowed zero to Wisconsin Nov. 18, DOMINANT DEFENSE Ohio State s defense has played well over the course of the last four games. Consider: The Buckeyes have given up an average of just 10.5 points per game and surrendered just four touchdowns over 16 quarters. The pass defense is allowing 53.8 yards per game. Opponents are averaging just 3.3 yards per play. Led by a defensive line that includes Sam Hubbard, Nick Bosa, Jalyn Holmes, Tyquan Lewis and Tracy Sprinkle, Ohio State has 39 tackles for loss (minus 145 yards). Bosa leads the way with seven TFL and two sacks. The Buckeyes secondary limited Maryland s DJ Moore, the top receiver in the conference statistically, to just two catches for 11 yards last week. The game prior against Rutgers, Ohio State s secondary didn t allow a Scarlet Knights receiver to make a reception. Opposing quarterbacks are 27-for-68 for 215 yards and four interceptions combined over the last four games. AND THE OFFENSE, TOO The offense has been equally impressive over the last four weeks. Consider: Ohio State has amassed over 550 yards of total offense in each game, including back to back 600-yard performances vs. UNLV and Rutgers. The Buckeyes are averaging yards/game in the stretch. Led by QB J.T. Barrett, who has thrown for 1,026 yards and 13 touchdowns, the Buckeyes have gained 1,446 yards through the air (361.5 yards/game). Against UNLV, Barrett, Dwayne Haskins and Joe Burrow combined to throw for a school-record 474 yards. Barrett has a passer efficiency rating of He s completed 72-of-104 passes (69.2 percent) with 13 touchdowns and zero interceptions. He s been responsible for 15 touchdowns (13 passing, two rushing). Built in 1922 at a cost of $1.3 million and refurbished in 2001 for slightly more than $194 million, the horseshoeshaped stadium is a monument to college football. As part of the renovation, the once portable South Stands became a permanent fixture. Ohio Stadium is listed in the National Registry of Historic Places. 20 GAME 7: AT PENN STATE GAME 9: NEBRASKA Head Coach Urban Meyer Ohio State University head football coach Urban Meyer is 64-7 through five-plus seasons leading one of the most storied programs in college football. He has coached the Buckeyes to a national championship in 2014 the program s eighth by winning the first College Football Playoff (CFP), to a repeat appearance in the CFP in 2017, to five consecutive Big Ten conference divisional titles and a Big Ten crown in 2014, to a 38-2 record in Big Ten games and to a 16-5 record versus ranked teams. He has done this by developing and overseeing a program culture that requires accountability, promotes respect, prepares young men for life after football and develops football skill sets and talents at an unsurpassed rate: his program has produced 33 NFL draft picks the last five years, including 10 first-round picks and record numbers of draft picks through the second, third and fourth rounds of the 2016 NFL Draft. And his team members are getting it done in the classroom, as well. Ohio State Buckeyes have earned four academic All-American honorees the past three years, one National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete award and the team is coming off its finest academic semester under Meyer last fall with record numbers of students with 3.0 (or above) grade point averages for the semester and cumulatively.
