HORNS CAPTURE #1,000 Texas 3-2 victory over No. 23 Long Beach State on Sept. 4 marked the 1,000th victory in UT s 36-year volleyball history... TEXAS VOLLEYBALL FACTS 2010 Texas Roster/Statistics/Notes FAUCETTE LEADING THE WAY Senior outside hitter Juliann Faucette has now led the Longhorns in kills in five of its six matches in 2010, finishing just one kill off the team lead in the only other match Faucette totaled a season-best 15 kills in Texas victory over No. 23 Long Beach State. TEXAS INVITE ALL-TOURNEY After posting a 2-1 record at the Time Warner Texas Invitational (Sept. 2-4), the Longhorns landed three players on the alltournament team... sophomore opposite hitter Sha Dare McNeal and senior outside hitter Juliann Faucette earned their second-straight all-tournament team selection for their efforts, while junior middle blocker Rachael Adams picked up her first accolade of the season. HORNS SET BLOCK RECORD Texas set a UT rally scoring era record for most blocks in a three-set match with its 20-block effort against Florida A&M (Sept. 2)... senior middle Jennifer Doris posted a team-best seven blocks and sophomore opposite hitter Sha Dare McNeal added a career-high six total blocks. The Longhorns have appeared in the Top 10 of the AVCA poll for 61 consecutive weeks. Texas is the eighth winningest program in NCAA Volleyball and one of eight to win 1,000 matches. Big 12 foes Texas and Nebraska are two of just three schools that have advanced to the NCAA Regional finals in each of the last four NCAA Championships... the other school to advance to the 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 Regional finals was Penn State... Texas fell to Stanford in the 06 finals and was tripped up by USC in 07 before advancing to the 2008 and 2009 National Semifinals. PRESEASON BIG 12 POLL & HONORS Texas has been selected to finish second in the Big 12 Conference race in a vote of league head coaches... it is the fifthstraight season that the Longhorns have been picked to finish in the top-two of the Big 12 in the preseason poll... senior outside hitter Juliann Faucette was chosen as the conference preseason player of the year, marking the second-time she has been chosen for the preseason honor after garnering co-player of the year honors prior to the 2008 season...
