It marked the Longhorns 14th sweep of the season. Senior Haley Eckerman led UT in kills with nine, but senior Khat Bell, junior Molly McCage and sophomore Paulina Prieto Cerame all added seven. McCage also led Texas in blocks with seven, while Prieto Cerame had six. Freshman Cat McCoy led in digs with 11, while junior Amy Neal had 10. As a team, the Longhorns led in blocks, 11.0 to 6.0 and hit.238. The Longhorns have out-blocked or tied their opponent in blocks in 21 out of 23 matches this year. In the last two matches (at Baylor and vs. Kansas), Texas has recorded 27.0 team blocks to its opponent s Texas continues to out-hit its opponent, extending its streak to 47-straight games. The Longhorns are holding their opponents to an average of a.140 hitting percentage. 8 OFF THE COURT Khat Bell -high school coach persuaded her to try volleyball when she was a freshman in high school. She was a basketball player and wasn t interested in volleyball, but tried it anyway. Tiffany Baker -lived in Germany when she was two years old Pilar Victoria -dad was a pitcher in Puerto Rico, credits him for her strong arm. He influenced her to start playing volleyball in Kindergarten -made up a song to help her remember all of her volleyball gear for practice and matches Molly McCage -when she was little, she begged her parents to let her skip practice or play on the B team because she was so uncoordinated -owned 28 cats at one point in her life Kat Brooks -family relocated from Hawaii to Austin -went to the same high school as President Obama Nicole Dalton -comes from a seven-sibling family -comes from a volleyball family--mom and dad played for fun, older cousins played in college and overseas, older sister played -enjoys drawing and painting -was born three months early and weighed two pounds Cat McCoy -just turned 18--is the team s youngest player Amy Neal -grew up attending Longhorn events -didn t want to start playing volleyball because she didn t want to wear spandex -is about to become an aunt of twins Haley Eckerman -mom played volleyball until her junior year of high school. She got hurt and got into coaching, so Haley was always around volleyball Chiaka Ogbogu -middle school coaches saw that she had exceptional talent and forced her to start playing even though she didn t want to -can wiggle her ears Kate Palladino -transfer from Texas A&M -older sister influenced her to start playing -has a golden retriever Sara Hattis -played basketball with dad growing up, but high school coach convinced her to start playing volleyball -is Jewish Mirta Baselovic -father was a volleyball player in Croatia -speaks English, Croatian and some French Paulina Prieto Cerame -uncle managed a pro team in Puerto Rico.
