Last season, she averaged 6.45 assists and 1.82 digs in NU s 6-2 offense, helping NU hit.322 as a team. She is seventh on NU s career assists list with 2,901 and is the second player in school history on top-10 lists in both assists and digs, joining former NU All-American Val Novak. Last Time Out: No. 1 Nebraska 3, Baylor 0 Behind a match-high 23 kills and four aces from All-American Sarah Pavan, No. 1 Nebraska clinched a share of the Big 12 title with a 30-17, 30-20, sweep of Baylor on Nov. 18. Pavan led the offensive barrage, reaching 20 kills for the seventh time this season, as she hit.528 on 36 swings and matched her career best with four service aces including three in a row at one stretch in the opener. Pavan also totaled eight digs and a pair of blocks against Baylor. Behind Pavan s offensive efficiency, the Huskers were like clockwork, committing a season-low eight errors en route to hitting.450 in the match, including.500 in each of the first two games. The Huskers limited Baylor to just three blocks and out-dug BU Redshirt freshman Rachel Holloway picked up her 10th double-double of the year with 37 assists, 10 digs and chipped in a pair of solo blocks, while piloting a Husker attack that saw three players finish in double figures in kills. Jordan Larson totaled 11 kills on.393 hitting and a career-high seven assists, while Dani Mancuso chipped in 10 more on.381 hitting. What to Watch For on Wednesday -With a win, the Huskers clinch the outright Big 12 title, as NU would finish no worse than 18-2 in league play. -Sarah Pavan needs 20 kills to move past Virginia Stahr (1,395 from ) into sole possession of fifth place on Nebraska s all-time kills chart. -With 450 kills this season, Pavan is also within striking distance of NU s single-season top-10 list. She needs 31 kills to tie for 10th place on the Husker single-season list. -With 432 digs this year, Dani Busboom is five digs away from passing Jennifer Saleaumua into third place on NU s single-season digs list and is only nine digs away from sole possession of second place. -Jordan Larson is four digs away from reaching 300 digs for the second straight season. Pavan Earns Big 12 Honor Nebraska right side hitter Sarah Pavan was honored by the conference office on Nov. 20, as she was selected the Big 12 s Player of the Week. The selection marks the second time this season and the fifth time in her career that Pavan has earned the Big 12 s weekly honor. She averaged 7.67 kills on.557 hitting, 1.17 service aces and 1.67 digs per game in sweeps of Texas A&M and Baylor. Pavan recorded 23 kills and hit over.500 in both matches last week, recording her sixth and seventh 20-kill efforts of the year. The CliffsNotes Season in Review Nebraska takes a 25-1 record and a No. 1 ranking into Wednesday s contest at Kansas. In honor of CliffsNotes (which was founded in Lincoln in 1958), here is a quick refresher of the season to date. -The Huskers graduated two AVCA All-Americans in middle blocker Melissa Elmer and outside hitter Jennifer Saleaumua from last year s NCAA runnerup squad, while reigning AVCA National Player of the Year Christina Houghtelling underwent season-ending shoulder surgery in July. -The Huskers opened No. 1 in the AVCA preseason poll for the third time in school history (2001 & 2005) and have remained No. 1 in the first 13 polls. -NU sold out its entire season ticket package prior to the season, needing less than two weeks to sell out all 17 home matches. -The Huskers are 7-0 against ranked opponents, including six sweeps (No. 20 San Diego, No. 20 Louisville, No. 25 Cal Poly, No. 17 Oklahoma and Missouri, which was ranked 15th and 16th in both matches). -NU held Middle Tennessee to hitting, the third-lowest percentage by a Husker opponent since the 2000 campaign. -NU s victory over Long Beach State on Sept. 3 snapped a three-match losing streak to the 49ers dating back to Nebraska held No. 20 Louisville to 13 points in two of the three games - the Cardinals lowest-ever total in rally scoring. In addition, it was the eighth and ninth times that NU held a ranked opponent to 15 points or less. -The Huskers opened the season with six straight sweeps for the first time since Sarah Pavan earned Big 12 Player-of-the-Week honors for her performance at the Ameritas Players Challenge. In three matches, she averaged 6.70 points, 5.90 kills on.409 hitting and 2.30 digs per game.

The Big 12 Freshman of the Year in 2005, Larson is enjoying an All-America-caliber year this fall. She ranks in the top 10 in the Big 12 in kills (4.20, fifth), services aces (0.45 third), digs (3.44, 10th) and points per game (5.12, third) and is the only player in the Big 12 on the top-10 list for both kills and digs. The Hooper, Neb., native has a team-high 18 doubledoubles (kills-digs) in NU s 27 contests this season. She recorded her 18th double-double of the year with 13 kills and 17 digs while matching her career high with six blocks at Colorado on Nov. 11. Larson saw her string of 10 consecutive double-doubles snapped against Missouri on Oct. 25. The streak was the longest by a Husker in the Big 12 era and included a careerhigh 20 kills and 10 digs against Kansas State on Oct. 4, a 14-kill, 14-dig effort at No. 15 Missouri on Oct. 11 and a 13-kill, 13-dig performance at No. 9 Texas on Oct. 18. Nebraska is 22-1 in Larson s career when she totals a double-double. Comparing Larson & 2006 Year K/Gm Hitting Pct. D/Gm SA/Gm A/Gm Busboom Digs in at Libero After serving as the Huskers setter for three seasons, Dani Busboom has been a star for NU at the libero position this fall. The senior shared setting duties last year in NU s 6-2 offense and was a threeyear performer at setter, guiding NU to a 63-4 in 2004 and Busboom adapted quickly to her new position, leading the Big 12 with 5.02 digs per game, a fact that is more impressive when you consider the league also returns its Libero of the Year in both 2004 (KSU s Angie Lastra) and 2005 (MU s Tatum Ailes). Busboom is on pace to become only the second player in Big 12 history to average over 5.00 digs per game and is already fourth on NU s single-season digs list with 432. She has been a model of consistency at the position, recording double figure digs 24 times, including a school-record stretch of 21 straight matches earlier this season. She has had at least 20 digs on six occasions and has tied her career high of 23 three times, most recently at Iowa State on Nov. 8. Busboom, who ranks seventh on NU s all-time assist chart with 2,901 assists, is one of only two Huskers ranked in the top 10 in both assists and digs (also Val Novak). On Oct. 25, Busboom became the eighth Husker in school history to record 1,000 digs and is now in sixth place on NU s career digs list. The Set-Up on Holloway Rachel Holloway made Husker history in the season opener against San Diego on Aug. 29, becoming the first NU freshman in the NCAA era (1981-present) to start a match under the 5-1 system. While two other NU freshmen have shared time in a 6-2 offense, neither were on the court for the start of their collegiate careers. Holloway, who graduated high school a year early and enrolled at NU last fall, has been impressive during her first season on the court, averaging assists per game to rank third in the Big 12 and 11th nationally, while helping the Huskers hit a Big 12-best.301 on the year. She already holds the NU freshman assist record and tops all freshmen nationally in assists per game.
